Even though the hotel has been around for awhile and is a little bit outdated it is a great place to stay. The value for what you get is absolutely great. The staff is helpful and friendly and can answer all your questions. My room was clean, fresh and the bed was extremely comfortable.

I called 1-800-holiday for this reservation while on the road and asked for a Holiday Inn EXPRESS in Joplin, Missouri. This was the hotel I was given - which is NOT an Express. While it was a very nice hotel, it was not what I asked for. I was expecting a free breakfast and got none. Your representatives should not assume that a customer wants a Holiday Inn when he asked for a Holiday Inn Express.

This room was the smallest and the bathroom was the most out of date I have encountered in all of my years of travel. Extremely disappointing to be treated this way as a "valued rewards member."

not a 3 star, shabby run down hotel, I have family in Joplin and visit often, but not at this hotel again.

I am very sad to say this Holiday Inn was so disappointing, we checked out after the first night and went to stay at a competitor's non-IHG property for the duration of our trip. Not only was the indoor pool not operational (and we were not informed of us when speaking to hotel staff before our staff), the front desk staff was less than helpful and courteous. When we checked into our room, it had a terrible smell of alcohol and remnants of a possible New Year's Eve party the night before our check-in on January 1st. False eyelashes were found laying on the bathroom floor. We put the do not disturb sign on our door so housekeeping would not enter our room while we were out. However, upon our return to our room, we discovered someone had indeed been in our room and replaced the dirty towels with clean towels; but, left the false eyelashes laying in the middle of the bathroom floor. We also had to argue with the front desk staff over breakfast vouchers that were supposed to be included with our room. A wonderfully nice gentleman at the restaurant, the only hotel staff person we ran into who was courteous and treated us in a normal IHG Platinum member fashion, stepped in and resolved the issue for us as the front desk personnel were not going to do anything to resolve the situation. Bottom line -- as sad as I am to say this, I would NOT recommend this property to any fellow IHG patrons. As a Platinum member, I have stayed in numerous IHG properties and this property by far is the worst experience I have ever had at an IHG property!!!

John Q. Hammond must be rolling over in his grave. My wife and I had the misfortune of staying at the Joplin Holliday Inn New Year's Eve. There were no rowdy people cutting up because the bar and dining room where empty. We ran into other guests who told us to stay away. In years past, the place was booming!
The check in process was normal for IHG - very well done and we were recognized as Platnium level. The front desk was the only pleasant thing about the property.
The whole hotel is dated, dirty and in desperate need of a full remodel. I'm shocked this property hasn't had its IHG accreditation pulled.
The halls smelled, the elevator was dated and dirty, our room was smelly. The carpet was dirty. The whole experience was poor.
