Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No customer service! The staff was not very friendly or helpful at all. I am an Priority Club member and they did not acknowledge that I was a member in any way even after I told them I was one I got the impression they could have cared less. Then they put me in a room with no fridge. or micro-wave. Then at breakfast the hostess was more interested in making sure I was a guest than taking care of me. All in all it was a pretty bad stay....I will not stay there again for sure. April 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mt. Vernon I am staying at this hotel every week for a couple of months. Everything basically is fine. I've stayed at other Holiday Inn Express, and have found different amenities. This facility gives you shampoo but no conditioner where others give you both. The same goes for breakfast items. This facility doesn't offer orange juice, bagels, English muffins, hard boiled eggs, or pancakes at the breakfast buffet. Other facilities offer much more variety of items for breakfast. Occasionally I am recognized as priority club member. April 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs to be updated. Not worth the money. Staff was informative and nice. Not worth the money. Hotel is very outdated. Nothing like the pics on the website. Room was small, beds not queen size. Bathroom very small. Breakfast bar is a contracted restaurant food and drinks limited. April 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by very nice great place to stop on the way home. great service and staff. thanks, for we will stay again April 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Run down The Internet router was broken, the desk chair in the room was broken, and the stopper in the sink was broken. All of these were reported, but nothing was done to resolve the situation. Overall condition of the hotel was run down. I won't be back. April 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by food we've stayed here now at an ave. of 6 times a year for over an 8 year period, an each time the quality of food has seemed to of gone down hill. there seems to be less an less people eating there also, only one other couple the last time while we ate. they changed breakfast also in the last year an it is no where as good as it used to be. bring back the biscuits an gravy April 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Handy location Hotel is located close to many restaurants & close to the interstate. A bit dated but clean. Noticed door of bathroom inside veneer chipped/stripped away from the bottom upwards about 1 foot or so. Otherwise, no issues & downstairs bar/grill economical. Free breakfast is always a bonus. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and clean I was disappointed that the front desk did not provide us a suite upgrade from our room as we are Priority Club platinum members. Got 2 bt of water, wow. Discuss this with me or offer something for down the road? Thanks, Steve March 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great service Great place to stay I stay here all the time in my travles.Always clean. March 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Missed Specifics on Reservation We always like the facility. We stay there twice a year. We make a reservation for the first floor so we can wheel our bikes into our room. This time our request was missed. We were lucky to get a handicapped room. We will hope for things to go a little better next winter. Just a small problem. March 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet room I had a room on the first floor, directly off the lobby. My window was a view of the parking lot. I was pleasingly surprised that I didn't hear any noise from the lobby or the parking lot all night. The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities that I wanted. It was a good stay. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Stayed once on the way to NC and then again on the way back! We were driving to NC to look at graduate schools and made it to this hotel that evening. Great service, wonderful room. The other two were really happy with breakfast--I always have a hard time as I am allergic to butter, milk, cheese, and all that make them up (eggs are okay) So, often at these sorts of breakfasts, there is not much to eat. Here there were not even bagels (most bread, though not all, contains milk or whey or casein) Nor was there oatmeal (also usually a good thing to have at these sorts of hotels) At least there was a cereal that I could eat--and they did have apple joice I could use in lieu of either almond, soy, coconut, or rice milk. I sure wish I could have eated the eggs, though, as they did look good! There was sausage instead of bacon, which is okay if you like sausage (I prefer bacon) On the return trip, in the morning, the exercisers tried to find the stairs as the elevator was shut for service and had a hard time finding the stairs. We decided that, for safety, signs might be a good idea. Room was clean. We were given a great room wtih refrigerator and microwave on the way out--the initial room we were given on the return trip did not have them, but they found a room with them and switched us. Greatly appreciated as we brought popcorn in hopes that we'd have access to one! Other than that--we arrived, on the way back, too late for our potential grad student to use the gym and that was kind of sad and there was no leeway on that--whereas a lot of places allow the gym to be open 24 hours. (I don't know why it was not--there is no one there in the daytime, either, so it was not because of an oversight issue) Again--we liked it so much that we made sure to stay there on the return trip, so obviously it was a nice place. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth the Money Our floor had both smoking and non smoking rooms and although our room did not smell like smoke, then entire hallway would make you gag. The breakfast not not even close to the normal HI breakfast, the pool area was nice but very outdated (hot tub was kind of scarry). We always stay at Priority Club hotels but if we are ever in Mt Vernon again, we will most definately find a different hotel. Very Dissapoointing Prioirty Club February 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel needs help Front Desk not helpful and rude to my daughter who was traveling with me trying confirm a reservation. Hotel not great shape. Best bargin was breakfast. February 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wash me Old and worn out. Start over with a clean slate. The odor of roach droppings sealed the deal for me. No mas. January 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Meeets Hotliday Inn Expectations Taking a road trip and picked Mt. Vernon out of the hat. Great choice, room was clean and updated, easy access from I57 and many major food chains a stone throw away. We however, dined at the restaurant on site and meal and service were excellent. For those interested, pub had a video game. We would definately recommend! January 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great night stay ( two separate occasions-same week) This was my first time staying here. While going to Kansas City from Atlanta, I split the trip both ways by staying in Mount Vernon. The receptionist found me a room on the first floor both nights. The rooms were clean, and in very good condition. NO problems at all. There is an attached sports bar/grill which has good drinks and fine food. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend this location to other travelers. January 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Room and Staff Friendliness Staff was very friendly and helpful but I discovered later that I could have gotten 2 rooms for a price for less that I paid for the one adjoining room my daughter and I stayed in. I don't think the desk clerk was trying to rip me off but she could have done a better job. She was very friendly. I was not acknowledged as a Priority Club member and did not get my free water :( Room was nice and peaceful. The lower marks were simply based on value for the $ January 15, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rude Staff My husband, daughter, and I stayed at the Holiday Inn on a long trip from North Carolina to Kansas. It was New Year's eve so we decided to stop and get a hotel. We found the Holiday inn online and stopped in. We enjoyed a great night and really enjoyed the room. Since he is in the military and had been gone on a training exercise it was nice to spend some time together. HOWEVER! The next morning we woke up to get back on the road and our 1 1/2 year old daughter was not having a good morning. My husband went downstairs to the continental breakfast to bring something back for her to eat so as to not bother the other people eating breakfast. When he started to leave the food area to come back to the room one of the kitchen staff yelled at him to stop. When he did he was told (VERY rudely) that he could not take food up to the room. When he asked if he could have a to go plate she told him (again, very rudely) that he would have to pay 6 dollars for it. So we have to pay 6 dollars for FREE breakfast? She was so rude that he just walked upstairs when she went to the kitchen and she charged him the 6 dollars. Granted its only 6 dollars but not only was she rude but we have never been charged for taking food to our room at any other hotel we have ever stayed at. We usually stay at the holiday inn express's but after how rude the staff was we will no longer be staying at any Holiday Inn affiliate. All we wanted to do was feed our baby without bothering everyone in the place and having to chase around a screaming baby. If she had been pleasant about the situation maybe I wouldn't be so upset. But she wasn't. January 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by staff was very courteous and attentive to our needs We have stayed at this hotel in the past and have always had a wonderful experience. The staff is very courteous and helpful. January 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by internet service There is a local hacker using the Public Access to get into guest computers and put a virus on their machines. I gave the IP address to the front desk but don't think they will do anything about it. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient & Comfortable We stay at this hotel every time we travel to Grandma & Granddad's. It's always a much better value than staying right inside St. Louis, it is very easy access from the highway, and the rooms are really comfortable. The restaurant is also a great place for dinner - you can't beat 'Kids Eat Free', especially when you don't even have to get back in the car. January 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hospitality!!! Our vehicle broke down on our way down to our daughter's in Georgia on Christmas Day, and had to spend three nights in Mount Vernon. AAA recommended Holiday Inn while we waited for a "verdict" about our vehicle. In spite of us being "stranded", all the people at the front desk and the hotel manager went over and above to make our situation better. Mount Vernon just had blizzard conditions in town, and because we were on foot, the hotel manager drove us to the movie theatre to see a movie. The hospitality of this hotel was exceptional! They all made our stay much more bearable considering in the end we found out it was a major repair with our vehicle. Thank you to all of you! January 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor Service This hotel has never been our favorite since the first time we stayed here a few years ago and the lady at the front desk informed us that they do not give upgrades for Platinum Priority guests. We were traveling this time and this happened to be the location that we needed to stop. If we ever stop in Mt. Vernon again we will look for another brand name! I asked for an upgrade and the lady said their were no rooms available for upgrade. Later I looked online and there were plenty of rooms that were better than what we received. The room was dirty and I am sure that we heard a mouse in the night. The pillows were so hard that both of us woke up with a sore neck. We will not stay at this location again!! December 31, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice We have stayed here four times, and every time is the same.......Great! December 7, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MICE!!! I am staying long term, because I am here working.. the rooms are not very clean.. the WORST part is I can't even open a window and I have no vent what so ever. I was sitting in my chair one evening after work and a mouse stuck to a sticky trap came crawling across the room at me. Some of the staff are friendly, but some of them need to work on their people skills. I think they need to do some serious deep cleaning and fix the windows so you can open them!!!! December 6, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and big complex Although I liked most features of this stay, there is some room for improvement. For example: Exercise room was always full, I couldn't get in Wed or Thu. Heater in room ran about every five minutes for five minutes, difficult to hear TV and when sleeping. Green policy was good although I never saw a notice. Staff didn't refill/replace kleenex, shampoo, body lotion. Breakfast always had same eggs & sausage. No bacon or mixed fruit, no oatmeal or other hot entree. Apple juice only, no orange juice or other option without an additional fee. Staff asked for room number each morning at breakfast. Not a problem, but unusual. December 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay This Holiday Inn location has the most attractive lobby/eating area. We were pleasingly surprised that our stay included complimentary breakfast, which has never been the case at any other Holiday Inn. The breakfast buffet had better selection and service than the Holiday Express motels we have visited. The hotel appeared much newer than it is. Rooms and common areas were well maintained and nicely decorated for Christmas. The hotel is conveniently located off the interstate and across from a winery on the opposite side of the interstate. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for a one night stay I stay at this hotel every time I'm driving through the area. It's well located- near lots of restaurants, clean, and the staff is friendly. There is also always plenty of parking. December 3, 2012
