Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by to much noise.. We were not really happy with our stay. The main thing is the walls are like they are made of paper. On one side of our room we had a baby that wouldn't quit crying and the the other side we had a man that when he blew his nose I could actually hear it. My husband heard his cell phone ring at 11::30 and you could hear his conversation as though he was in the same room. First time that has ever happened to us at a motel. July 26, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, but way overboard on the air freshener. We stayed in a pet friendly room, because our dog was with us. Everything was great, except the over abundance of air freshener. Really made me wonder what odors they were trying to hide. I knew that my allergies were gonna drive me nuts it was so strong. Sure enough, I've spent the rest of this week fighting off a cold. It really looked clean, everyone was great. Krieger's bar and grill was great. The little pregnant bartender was awesome!! So, except for the air freshener, everything was perfect. July 20, 2013

Comfort Inn had over booked and had made me reservations at you motel,i did not get the same accomidations I had at comfort .which was a king suite. The room was payed by comfort she insited that she could not help me that It would be moor money I understood this. I called the clerk at comfort to explain the problem she tried to contact her boss to to get more money but no answer. Your clerk insited that I take what was offered or go somewhere else, had to stay nowhere to go its the overall manner she handled this that made me extreamly upset. When I travel thru this area again I will not stay at the holiday inn exp July 20, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, customer service was poor The hotel was very nice, clean and welcoming; however, the staff at the front seemed fairly disinterested in the customers. I was the only one at the counter and the two desk staff were a few feet away chatting. About two or three minutes later one finally came over and checked me in. I chose to sit and wait and see how long it would it take for one of them to help. I was given a nice room and it was clean and well air conditioned. I went to the restaurant (sports bar) and the staff were equally detached from most of the customers. My daughter and I were appalled at how disconnected they were with all of us in there. Some people just got up and left. As I walked back towards the room the front desk staff were chatting again and not paying attention to people coming in. A few minutes passed before a customer got their attention. There behavior was stand offish and non attentive. I was very disappointed. July 13, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pet room was not good We had 2 cats and needed a pet room. The one we got totally smelled like wet dogs. There was dog food still on the carpet. The staff reduced our rate as a result but, of the 5 hotels we stayed in on our cross country journey, the total price of this Holiday Inn was still the highest price we paid of all the hotels. With a cleaner room, we would consider returning. July 3, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good stay for the value Overall a good experience. The rooms were not ready when we got there but they made every effort to get one ready quickly. We had a room right near the elevator which I thought might be noisy but it was not until the 2nd night when there was a noisy wedding party but thats to be expected. 1st day the food was refilled slowly at the buffet but their was a large crowd, next day there were no issues, food was constantly replenished. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Event Facilitation While staying at your facility I found the staff to be remarkably pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable. However the next morning when I went downstairs to facilitate the our programs in Salons A & B I was quite disappointed. The room was not set up properly, the Audio equipment was not in working order. Chanlder was so gracious trying to get it working, but it just kept quitting on us. There was a distinct odor of urine outside of the Salons where we had the registration table set up. I had to go into the salon for the day which limited the work that I could do that day. The restrooms were not adequate. I am amazed that you have a facility of that size with only one women's restroom and with such a limited number of stalls. I would not recommend this facility for any event to others. June 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Making a bad day good We arrived at the Mount Vernon Holiday Inn via tow truck -- that should tell you we were having a very bad Sunday! A deer had leaped into our car completely smashing the front end. After calling highway patrol and AAA, Rick's towing came to haul our car back to Mount Vernon and the driver brought us to the Holiday Inn. A warm welcome from the front desk staff and nice comfortable room helped to take the edge off this bad day. The business center was a great resource as we searched for the best options to deal with a disabled car hundreds of miles from home. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. After a good night's rest and a good breakfast, we were ready to hit the road again with a rented truck to tow our car back home. Special thanks to Juanita at the front desk and to all the rest of the staff for helping make a bad day good. June 17, 2013

I had a priority club coupon to order breakfast off the menu, the waitress didn't wait on us we were unable to order from the menu. The eggs and ham from the buffet was cold, did not eat them! waitress did not stop by our table once to see if we needed anything. She was unsmiling and had a scowl on her face..She not someone I would want representing my business!!! June 9, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Graduation weekend May 2013 The staff went out of their way to assist when we had a sick child in our group and they moved our grandchildren & family to another room. The staff always wore a smile and wanted to ensure your stay was comfortable. The pool area was very clean and maintained. Nice drive to Carbondale for graduation. We will continue to stay in Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express for our "homes away from home". May 17, 2013

The room I was in was on the 1st floor and the room window wouldn't close and was open as I entered the room. I alerted the staff but really didn't feel it was much of a concern to them. The room was kind of dated along was the bathroom, honestly the Pool area was the most enjoyable area to me and made up for the other areas. Other than that it was an ok stay! May 7, 2013

Cons - very poor wifi in our room, reasonable signal only by going down to lobby area. Breakfast included very spartan choices. While clean the property is definately showing it's age. Vernon, .....when we arrived the back and front parking lot was FULL of various different county sheriff's vehicles. We were frightened at first that something had happened (due in part to the recent bombing in Boston etc....) and then saw that all was calm and so went in to register. We ate at the small place across the drive and the patrons there seemed to be associated with those filling the motel. There were men and women, walking guard dogs on the grounds etc........we ate relaxed and slept like logs...... If ever traveling near Mt. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Horrible experience Had to call down to the desk 3 times to report the family next to us yelling, swearing and jumping off their beds until they finally stopped around 2:30 am. The front desk said they could hear them from downstairs and the only comfort I got was they could move us to another room...at 2:30 in the morning...packing everything up...and moving my kids...great idea Holiday Inn. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable and good location We were on our way home from a vacation and we usually stay at a Holiday Inn Express. However, this hotel was in a good location and the price was reasonable. The lobby area was nicely furnished and the front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was plenty big and included a frig which is always nice for traveling. The room and bath were "just ok" as far as cleanliness is concerned. Nothing too serious but appears that housekeeping did a rush job or just skipped cleaning the floor. WE especially enjoyed the individual coffee maker in our room. The breakfast area was nice although the food choices were rather limited. Overall, this was a decent hotel and would definately stay again if we were in this area. April 18, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs updated and better service It is typical of the older HI locations, needs updating. This hotel has a sort of an unusual breakfast situation, buffet or menu so they have "waitresses." They don't even tell you about the menu unless you fall upon it by accident. They worry more about getting your room number than keeping the food stocked, then have the nerve to put out a tip basket. I have stayed a few times and have yet to figure out what these "waitresses" even do. Like most hotels the exercise room is a joke. I am a member at Anytime fitness and there is one 2.7 mile run from the hotel. April 17, 2013

I am an Priority Club member and they did not acknowledge that I was a member in any way even after I told them I was one I got the impression they could have cared less. Then they put me in a room with no fridge. or micro-wave. Then at breakfast the hostess was more interested in making sure I was a guest than taking care of me. All in all it was a pretty bad stay....I will not stay there again for sure. April 14, 2013
