Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Pets can stay, but it's not pet friendly This is the 2nd holiday in the past 5 plus years we wouldn't stay again. The other was Gainsville,FL. 1st when we arrived at Mt. Vernon at 4:00PM our room wasn't ready-check in time is 3:00.. The attitude of girl at front desk was not good to say the least. Also, outside the entry door there were 5 signs to take your pets away from the property to do it job. To where that was we don't know. We walked around the entire building and could find no "designated area". Most pet pet friendly holiday Inns & other hotels have a basket & bags for pick up &to place in the basket! One last thing the attitude of one we were in contact with for breakfast was same as one checked us in . The one only bright spot of our stay was the bartender, she was very pleasant, even tho she was not our server. Our server was ok also. July 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A little disappointed with housekeeping & breakfast Very clean comfortable room. We stayed 2 nights. Our room was not serviced after our 1st night. Beds not being made was ok, but we needed clean towels & toilet paper. Called the front desk and they sent some up, but we should not have had to ask. Breakfast was good, but we were disappointed that we had the same thing Saturday & Sunday. I really expected for breakfast to be changed up a little. We also found the breakfast staff was very unfriendly. July 2, 2014

Very clean, crisp and neat inside and out They accepted my small dog which alot of hotels won't. I won't stay at any other hotel in this city but the Holiday Inn. June 25, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WE ALWAYS STAY AT THIS HOTEL When traveling cross country on I-24 / I-70 we always plan to stay at the Mt. Vernon, Il Holiday Inn. It's updated, clean, spacious rooms, friendly staff, has a great indoor pool that my wife always swims in. The only minor concern I have is that if the hotel is very busy the hot, buffet breakfast replenishment is slow (some foods run out and are not refilled quickly). Other than that, a keeper! We slept wonderfully and enjoyed all the TV stations they offered. If we are ever in Mount Vernon again, we will stay here! June 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Way back to KC An outstanding place to stop between KC and Knoxville. Old Holidome that has filled in the pool and resort area. Older facility but very well maintained. Breakfast bar leaves a lot to be happy about. Limited selection but good food. The most outstanding thing about this unit is the quality of the staff. They are second to none. Great service. The staff is friendly and helpful. Common areas are also clean and lovely. The continental breakfast exceeded our expectations with a nice variety of breakfast items. I found hair all over in the bathroom and on my towels. The breakfast did not have very many choices either. I will not be staying here again the next time I am in the area. June 19, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Mt Vernon We pulled in after driving 880 miles to find a room that left much to be desired. The sheets were not crisp and clean looking and the air conditioning unit fan was very low and didn't do much of a job drowning out the highway noise. We just came from a Holiday Inn the previous night in Wyoming and the experience was good so what we found in Mt Vernon was unexpected. To cap it off, the breakfast the following morning was one of the worst continental breakfasts I've ever seen. Based on this experience, I will think twice before staying at another Holiday Inn. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by breakfast was lacking I stay at many Holiday Inns and this was the most lacking breakfast I have seen in years. Small selection, only apple juice and it was so hard to get it to come out the staff helped older folks and acted put out about it. Sorry but you all can so much better. Left there and went to McDs which I don't like but needed something for the long drive. Disappointed. Room was OK and bed was fine. June 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Cut Above the Rest My husband and I were really impressed with our one night stay. We wished we could have stayed longer. Starting from the welcome at check in until we checked out, we enjoyed every minute. The breakfast buffet was really upscale and included which was a surprise. Also glad to see they use re-useable kitchenware. Pet fee was reasonable as well. All in all this is a four star hotel. Front desk was very friendly. Thanks Travis! June 11, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Unbelievable We arrived at this Holiday Inn after a long day of driving. My husband was not feeling well and we struggled with getting him comfortable enough to sleep. At 6:30 a.m. in the morning the front desk calls and says another guest has reported an alarm going off and wants to know if it is in our room. What on earth would cause her to do this? Did she call all the rooms on the floor or pick a room at random? Wasn't it possible for the complaining guest to go out in the hall and try and pinpoint the alarm or better yet, an employee come up to the floor and investigate? After this we went down to discover a breakfast buffet that provided cold eggs and cold ham. June 8, 2014
