Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tired hotel Hotel was selected for a large group function. If we ever come back to Charleston, we will go 2 doors up to the Holiday Inn Express. Hotel looked and felt tired. Staff was friendly and helpful, but not enough of them. You just felt like they were cutting costs every way they could at the expense of the guests. Room was average. Comfortable bed. Soft pillows (which I prefer). Bathroom was small. One sink. Very low lighting. Hard for wife to put on makeup. No safe in the room, and when my wife asked at the front desk if everything would be safe in the room, the attendant got indignant that she would ask. Food was a joke! Breakfast was to be available starting at 6 am, but buffet was not set up until 7 am. We ordered from menu because we were in a hurry. Ordered one fried egg, English muffin, and cup of fruit. First came the one egg on a plate by itself. Then a couple of minutes later came the muffin. Then a couple of minutes after that came the fruit cup. Took us 50 minutes for one egg breakfast. One server for whole room, until 7:30 am when 2 more showed up. Our server was great! She was by herself, and while I am embarrassed I can't remember her name, she took care of us by herself with her foot in a boot from ankle injury. Some went on a tour and when they got back, they wanted lunch. No lunch service available. The problem is, that you have to get in your car and drive to get anything to eat. There are no restaurants in convenient walking distance. We had 2 banquet functions while there. There was about 160 of us. Hor-dourves were good, but skimpy. Dinner was average. About what you would expect for large crowd. Drinks were ridiculous! Even wanted $2.50 for a bottle of water! So if you are spending one night and leaving the next morning, you can stay there. I would not recommend this for any extended stay. November 14, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Southern Disappointment We often stay at this chain of hotels as we travel. We stayed four nights because of attending meetings held in this location. The fitness center equipment is very poor quality and does not work properly. For someone who rides a recombinant bike every day, this equipment was useless. The food service provided to our group was poor. Pre-ordered prepaid meals were served to part of the group one hour later than others. The rooms were very clean every day. That part of the staff service was great. The location was convenient to major highways. The grounds are clean and neat. November 7, 2014

The rest service was friendly and very good and I would recommend this property to anyone being that it is close enough to Charleston and personal or business needs. It was somewhat difficult to find the entrance at night. Need some lights or signs to to show entry way due to one way traffic, etc. November 7, 2014
