Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thanksgiving Visit We had stayed here before during the previous summer and returned because we enjoyued the hotel, staff, accommodations and it overall location in the heart of NYC. We were treated very well and some of the staff remembered that we had been there over the summer. This is always a welcome surprise as a hotel guest- it makes you feel like your home. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Size of the room and calmlness The room was good, but not what I expected, booking a deluxe room. It was rather noisy, because of the neighbors, located just next door, in the adjacent room. There is no minibar. Bath-room is too small for the room which I paid for. However the location of the hotel and room rate are still attractive for short term staying. January 15, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I expected a little more service We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights at the very end of a 3 week vacation. The experience was very average. No real positive memorable moments. I would have liked to see a proactive approach to service. Simple little example; Day of departure. I was travelling down the elevator with a number of bags. A little more than what would be normal for two people. Two male members of staff walked in to the lift on a level below us. They greeted both of us with a good morning. We got to the ground floor and the two men just walked out of the lift. I guess one of the gentlemen was a room attendant and the other could be found at the Concierge desk - he looked like management. We had 5 big cases and 3 reasonably sized pieces of hand luggage. A little offer of help would have been appreciated. Pretty much sums up the experience throughout. Nothing special. I also don't understand why the touch screen panel to book transport to the airport was priced differently from what was offered by the bell captain. circa $50 different from the touch screen to what we paid by booking car through the bell captain. I am glad I asked a little more about the service. Free Wifi service was pretty slow. Thankful for it being free but I actually would have considered paying more to get a better speed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 great We had a very nice stay here! The staff goes over board to make you feel at home. January 14, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Old and tired Ok for road warriors and single night but not the facility for long stays. Has all amenities to stay on property. January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and extremely clean property I was impressed by this IHG property. I stayed here for its proximity to the ABC studios where I attended a show taping, but will definitely be back to this hotel for other trips to New York City. The staff was great at the Front Desk and the room was very clean and well maintained. The rate was also very reasonable for the location. January 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great accommodations! Very nice, clean and close to everything we wanted to see and do. Will definitely stay there again. January 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good experience Excellent Price, and the hotel is located near from the subway station and central park, i think is important to considered include the continental breakfast or buffet in the Price and not part of an add for this. January 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place, bad room We have stayed here many times. It is in a convenient location. there is a TON of restaurants on 9th ave and some great bars nearby. They did put us in the Tower in a room right next to the elevator shaft and every night they clunky noisy elevator would wake me up with skreatching and clanking every time someone used it. I was in town on business and busy so I didn't have time to complain or I would have had my room changed. I should know better. The tower rooms are not as nice as the front rooms. January 12, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by January Stay The Holiday Inn was spacious and warm on a very cold day in NewYork. The individuals working the lobby were more than helpful calling a cab as frigid as it was. I had to ship a package, they were helpful with that as well. Compared to the Holiday Inn located on 31st Street this location could use a decorative update in the lobby and bar area. I normally stay on 31st Street but thought I would try a more central location. I will consider coming back, however the entry way needs a "face lift." Other than that the stay was pleasurable. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Experience A very good experience with this hotel. Staff was helpful and friendly. Overall, the room was spacious and comfortable however, it was a little warm. The heater was difficult to control the temperature. January 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and good location. I really appreciate you for your kindness to have let us check in early in the morning. After the long flight , we could feel relaxed. Location is good. We can walk to many famous places, such as Central Park, Broadway or The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Atmosphere in the hotel was comfortable. We felt at home. January 11, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Return Visit This is my second stay at this hotel. Very comfortable and good location January 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lost and Found I stayed at this site before Thanksgiving and forgot some clothes from the closet upon leaving (in a hurry to avoid an incoming storm). Returned 6 weeks later and they not only had my clothes, they were neatly folded and in a bag...delivered to my room within 10 minutes of arrival. Very impressive. January 9, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Con I recently stayed with my Boyfriend for 1 night. We came in our car and called multiple times to inquire about parking and the information we kept receiving was unclear. Once I went in to register, the older man in the front (concierge) that attended me was extremely rude. He kept saying I hadn't paid although I had reserved online, and basically made me feel unwelcome. This was my first time registering online and since I had to put my credit card info I thought I had gotten charged. Of course as a customer service representative he could have easily and nicely explained this to me without barking at me like if I was an animal. My boyfriend and I spoke to the manager in charge (who was very professional) and she said she would handle it. I gave her my room number, however, in our 2 days stay we never received an apology. The room also had a funky scent but not unbearable. The room was clean and other staff were extremely nice. The location was great and it was clean. It wasn't bad for a night and I would recommend. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do not stay here Stayed here for 2 nights and really wished that I hadn't. The service was rude, curt and couldn't care less. I was told the wrong floor and when I finally got to my room it was disgusting. The wallpaper is coming apart at the seams and pealing off the walls, the armchair was absolutely disgustingly filthy and ripped and the whole room was so shabby. The toilet flushing system is awful and I have never heard anything so loud. I asked for another room and they offered me a room with an inter-connecting door so I asked for another as I could hear every word the couple in the next room were saying and they offered me another room with an inter-connecting door! I was amazed that either the receptionists are not familiar with their rooms or they did it on purpose. I gave up and kept the original room. At no point was I recognized as a Platinum member, offered an upgrade or offered any courtesy. Going by past reviews this seems to be a recurring problem and management appear to be unconcerned about it. It is so very different in Europe as you automatically are given an executive room. I went to the bar and asked if I could have a china cup as there were only paper cups in the room. (In European hotels you get china mugs and proper teaspoons). I was treated like I was some sort of criminal and lectured that if I didn't personally bring the mug back I would be charged $5. After about 5 minutes the staff member slammed a mug down on the bar and I am very surprised that she didn't break it. Thankfully she didn't because no doubt I would have been charged for it. This meant that I could not do an express checkout because I needed to return the mug to reception. I have to say a thank you to housekeeping because I was cold and called them for another quilt and they were there within a few minutes. That is the service I expect and they could teach the front desk staff some lessons. I have to say that I moved to the Holiday Inn Express on 48th Street after my stay here and the difference was absolutely amazing. Perhaps you could send your front desk staff to them for a couple of days so your hotel can learn how to treat and relate to guests. January 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, Comfortable, Great Location My family and I (4 of us total) stayed here the week of Thanksgiving. Yes, the Lobby and interior are obviously older and could use updating, but it was clean and the staff friendly. We were able to check in early and found our room to be quite spacious. There wasn't much drawer space to unpack for the 5 days we were staying so my teenager lived out of her suitcase on the luggage rack but the closet is large and there was still plenty of floor space and surfaces for stuff with the dresser top, desk and little table in the room. It's nice that the sink area is separate from the actual shower/toilet which helps when everyone's trying to get ready to go out. There wasn't much of a view from the room itself but the location was awesome! So close to lots of different kinds of restaurants, several subway stations, shows, and shopping. There are also a couple of local shops and drugstores within a block or so if you need forgotten things, drinks, or snacks for the room. I was worried about just picking a hotel without really knowing if it was a good area or location and was quite pleased with how basically safe the area and hotel felt and how conveniently located it was. We never ate in the hotel restaurant or bar so I can't comment on them, but the staff we did interact with in housekeeping or at the front desk were all very friendly and basically helpful. After Thanksgiving when it got busier the lobby would get quite crowded and there would be a wait for the elevators both in the lobby and on your floor, but on the plus side there was always a taxi out front dropping someone off that you could hop in if you needed to get somewhere! So, while not luxurious or posh by any means it is overall a clean, comfortable, well staffed hotel that is in a good location and a great value for the price. If I went back to NYC and wanted to stay in that part of the city again, I would stay there. January 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by New year's eve week We staid there for a week and was an excellent stay, position wise, cleanliness, staff and rooms. Price was not a disaster, but could have been a bit cheaper for what it offers. January 7, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent option in Midtown Mnahattan This is a good Holiday Inn. Yes, it may be a bit old but the staff and location make up for it. Give it a try next time you're in NY! I'll be definitely coming back! January 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 holiday inn 57th street midtown ny The stay was good but the service and care about customer not so excellent like in your holiday inn in Europe. Thanks January 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Find! Comfortable stay, good service, great location conveniently located to everywhere we wanted to go. Reasonably priced for New York, especially the parking. January 4, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by I normally love Holiday Inns...but The only GOOD thing I can remember to say about this Holiday Inn is great service in the lounge and the location in Mid-Town Manhattan is good. The hotel has tourists visiting from all over the world, so that's interesting. But now the "not so good" part. Of course NY hotels don't come cheap. The "particulars:" There is no recognition for being Platinum or even a member of Priority Club. No upgrades; no bottled water; no free breakfasts; no suites; no Club or Executive level...nothing. they offered $5 discount coupons that could be used for toast or for a glass of wine, but not both; and not enough of those for my wife and I to have toast every morning. It's a very old building. old carpeting. hairs all over the room. no room thermostats, no ventilation system, tiny tiny sink area with no place to put anything. Even though it was super cold outside, the room was super hot most of the time, and with no ventilation system, the only way to cool the room down was to open the windows. So our windows were open most of the time, even though it was below freezing outside. The elevators are also really old and really small. So when the elevator finally came, it was too crowded to get on. So people often resorted to the stairs. we took the stairs from the 15th floor, for the elevators often came full. Then the stairs didn't open to the lobby but to the parking garage area outside, so then we had to walk around to the entrance of the hotel to go back in to find the restaurant. my guess is that this hotel won't be a Holiday Inn much longer. It's just too old and not up to normal American hotel standards. If you want to step back to hotels built 1962, this is the place! I'll still be a good and loyal IHG hotel guest, just not THIS IHG hotel. January 3, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel brand The location of the hotel is good for visiting newyork .The room is quite roomy. and the customer care is great and I am very satisfied. January 3, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great location-great service They let us check in extra charge. They were great bringing extra coffee and towels. Pay for the parking through the hotel..was easy and convenient. Great location..close enough but far enough away. Front desk recomended a great late night diner that delivered to the room. Room was clean and comfortable. Bar has great martinis. Thank you for a memorable holiday stay. December 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Only Concierge was great! I work for a hotel within the IHG brand and I am also a member with the Rewards Program. So the decision to stay at a IHG property was easy. The location is great. Close to Columbus Circle subway station and withing walking distance to restaurants and cafes. Check in was cold, like the weather warm welcome, what I would normally expect. I wasn't recognized as a Reward member and even after asking if my number is on file there was no comment about that. I had to ask, if a late checkout would be possible (I did that a day before departure). My keys were handed to me and that was it. I had requested a nice room, maybe with a view, since it was a special trip for my Mom and me. We got an old room on the 4th floor. Working in hotels myself, I know how hard it is to fulfill all wishes. But there was no comment about my request or that it couldn't be acknowledged. We sticked to the room we got, since we were tired and just wanted to get some food and then rest. The room itself was spacious and the separation of toilet and vanity is very nice. Unfortunately we didn't have any glasses or cups for the toothbrushes, so we used the paper coffee cups... Housekeeping service was always clean, yet they always rearranged the blankets (we were each using more than one and they always pulled it back apart and folded one separately. Nothing to really complain about, but it sure was a hassle for us when wanting to go to sleep.) Since we prepaid our reservation, there was no need to stop and check out. Whenever we were leaving or returning to the hotel nobody seemed to care. There was no welcoming at any time. No smile. Nothing. It rather seemed as if personal conversations were more important and answering questions were disturbing them. The only one worth mentioning is Domingo at the Concierge Desk. He made us feel welcome to NYC and gave us tips on what to do when and where to go first. He did an outstanding job recommending a musical and was always very friendly and positive. He always had a smile on his face and kept asking us what we wanted to do and see in order to find the best deal for us. Thank you for that! To wrap up this rather long review - I would stay there again, but only because of location and room size. December 30, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay at Holiday Inn 57th Street - A great place to stay at. Room is cozy, bed is comfy, TV works great and so does the wifi. The only small thing that needs a little bit insight is the bathroom door - doesn't close properly on the first try ever, have to put an extra effort in - otherwise, really a great place to stay at - with a little bit over 10 mins difference from Central Park, this hotel is a great deal for all the amenities it provides. ! December 29, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel scruffy and staff indifferent The hotel location is good but it is badly in need of renovation. The rooms are scruffy, carpets dirty, lifts noisy, corridor noisy and exterior noise even of 19th floor is very bad. The general attitude of staff is one of indifference and very poor. They seem to be in need of renovation like the property! There was no recognition of being an IHG member. Most of our experience of Holiday Inn hotels has been in Europe, Middle East and Asia where they are generally of a good standard. This was the second experience of Holiday Inn in the USA within a 3 week period and both were very poor but this was the worst of the two. December 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice bed, good neighborhood Not far from Columbus Circle and subway lines, this Holiday Inn property featured a nice bed and room, but the bathroom was so small the door hit the toilet when it was closed. Elevators were slow and there were too few of them for the number of people there, especially when a couple of tour buses dropped off about a 100 people with their luggage late one of the evenings during our stay. Overall, a good location and value, but not ideal. December 26, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Average Good location but the walls were thin. Couldn't sleep all night bc the people next door were so loud until 5 am! December 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by The bathroom ruined it The staff was exceptionally friendly and our room was very clean. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were particularly nice. There were two points that took away from the experience and made me not want to stay there again. 1. The curtains were sheer; there was no option to close a full curtain over the window. 2. The bathroom was a problem. It was clean, but the door didn't want to shut all the way. It reminded me of someone's first college apartment or something. Then the toilet sounded like an earthquake whenever it flushed. It was so loud that my husband laid awake for two hours the first night, needing to use the bathroom but not wanting to have to flush the toilet. It was truly a horrifying sound and it wasn't just our room; we could hear our neighbor too. December 23, 2013
