Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best hotel in Norton/Wise area but some issues I've stayed here many times while moving and visiting my kid at UVA-Wise. I've generally been satisfied with my rooms. I was pleased when I arrived 2 hours early for check-in and was immediately given a room. However, this time I had a room on the 1st floor, where the room window faced the hallway running the length of the indoor pool. The hallway was lighted all night and the privacy curtains weren't enough to keep the light out of the room, distracting me while I was trying to sleep. One issue was that the lighting in the room was sparse and used CFL bulbs that were cold-white in color and not very bright. I had to move the reclining chair next to the bed to have enough light to read. The doorway area and bathroom were also dimly lit, particularly the shower. Please change to daylight-temperature bulbs and get more/stronger lights in the room. Another issue was the small size of the pillows on the bed: they pretty much fit my head with a small margin on either side. That meant that every time I moved, my head was off the pillow. Building a nest of the four small pillows was a small improvement but not optimal. Please use standard-size pillows. January 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Trailrider811 I stayed one night for business. I was not expecting this hotel to be anything special but I have to tell you I was very surprised. Nice big parking area as I have a large truck. The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. Told me about the restaurant upstairs, and the food available close by. He was great, answered all my questions. The room was clean and spacious, comfortable bed. Quiet. Restaurant on 5th floor was great! Pasta bar was amazing. The lady that seated me was very nice and recommended the homemade cake for desert. (SO DO I) The chief at the pasta bar was great. All the staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home and comfortable. I cant say anything at all bad about this hotel.. I will visit there again, I stay in hotels 4-5 nights a week for work. If I had to find a bad thing I would say I wasn't overly impressed with the pillows but they were ok. Price was very reasonable. Great great hotel!! Highly recommend!! December 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Over and Above! While in town for family we stayed at the Holiday Inn, Norton, VA. We called while traveling in for late check-in and the desk clerk checked us in no problem. Upon arriving we were greated by kind staff (front doors are very loud) we made our way to our room and it was very nice and spaceous. We were assigned a streetside room which was very loud and disturbing, however this was quickly addressed and rooms were changed (parking lot side) upon talking to Wes at the front desk, he was so helpful and accommodating! We were promptly moved to the first floor where for the remainder of our stay we enjoyed the pool, resturant, lounge, free coffee in lobby and new comfy cozy room. When checking out Wes kindly asked how our new room was and how our family enjoyed the stay, we were in town for a funeral and it was so nice to stay in such a comfortable accommodating environment. Stayed here several times on business trips and plan on several more times Some noise from road. 2 suggestions to hotel, return to giving guests complementry breakfasts and have enough refrigerators so they do not have to be moved if you want one. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kitchen Disaster and Average Quality This hotel needs to look itself in the mirror and figure out what it wants to be. The restaurant is a disaster. Every time I'm there, my breakfast is either incorrect or takes way too long. Oh, and it's not free, either. At dinner, the managerial staff was too busy socializing amongst themselves to notice their staff was having equipment issues and patrons were not being taken care of. The rooms are ok, definitely could be cleaner. The elevators feel like they'll breakdown any second. Will I stay there again? Probably, but only because it's the only big name show in town. But I'll definitely consider making my way to Pikesville next time. November 17, 2013

I have stayed at numerous hotels all over the USA, and we were thoroughly impressed with this hotel. The staff was awesome and the food at the restaurant was impressive! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No shower curtain amoung other problems Poorly organized staff! In fact, upon checking in, the check in clerk seemed to be overwhelmed. The cleaning staff were evidently very behind (this was at 530 in the afternoon). There was a lobby full of people waiting for their rooms to be cleaned. When we finally got in our room, it didn't have a shower curtain or a refrigerator. I called the front desk to tell them about the shower curtain - they said they weren't surprised because she had seen some in the washing machine earlier so she figured she'd get some calls about shower curtains. She offered to bring one to us. When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess seemed to be the only one there and took our order although she seemed rather confused: i.e. she thought when I ordered blue cheese for my salad that I wanted blue cheese instead of blue cheese dressing. They were out of blue cheese but they did have blue cheese dressing. By the way, we were not told when we checked in that in the packet with the keys there was a 25% off coupon for dinner at the hotel. The food was very good when it came. Breakfast was much better with a waitress who was very well accomplished and the food was very good. I will not be staying here in the future. October 26, 2013
