Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by All good! One night stop over en-route to France for family holiday. Usual very high Holiday Inn standards in terms of arrival, check in, room, staff and food. Great room with views towards the docks - made a very ship mad 9 year old very happy!! Everywhere very clean but in need of updating. Simple things like rusty shower gel holders in the leisure club showers are easy to change and don't give a good impression. IHG really need to spend some money on the hotel to bring all elements up to speed. It really didn't detract from the stay but couldn't help feel that some financial investment would make a real difference. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely stay again when in the area. August 11, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Post Cruise Stay Hotel was very clean, was most impressed by the overall attitude of all staff at this hotel. Appeared that they enjoyed interaction with all guests. Hotel was busy but they never looked rushed. God size rooms with air con which I have not found in any other similar priced rooms in Southampton. Very convenient for Port , shopping and night time entertainment. Will use this hotel on future visits to Southampton. August 9, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Parking becoming a problem. We have stayed at your Hotel many times and have always enjoyed the hotel and find your staff very polite and professional. We found the parking was a problem this visit with so many cruise passengers having left a car for many days at a time and taking up the bulk of the spaces in the rear car park . It is easy to check which vehicles are left by cruise passengers from the windscreen tickets.If you loose room residents the simple mathematics show that the income from the parking of the non residents is vastly lower than the day to day room revenue . Many people had to park on the lawns , this would not have been an option in wet and therefore muddy conditions. You need a formula based on anticipated room occupancy which should limit the number of spaces available to cruise parkers. August 8, 2014

The reception staff were friendly and efficient and we were checked in extremely quickly. The room was great with huge windows overlooking the water. The only fault we had was that the room could have benefitted from a black blind for the window. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all excellent with great service from the team including the bar staff. All in all we would go back. August 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staying at Holiday Inn Southampton with my daughter My daughter and I stayed one night and loved it. The staff were fantastic really helpful and friendly. Holly on reception organised a DVD player for my daughter so we could watch Frozen (again) before bedtime. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent value and delicious - Courtney and the team made a special effort with my daughter to keep her entertained at the table. Really impressed with the staff and facilities, swimming pool was great too! Will definitely recommend to friends to stay here when visiting Peppa Pig World which is, of course, a must! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service, Beautiful View We booked a room for me, my daughter and my mother based on two sharing a double bed and one on the sofa bed. The sofa bed was a bit springy and fairly uncomfortable. We stayed on the 7th floor and had a beautiful view of Southampton docks and enjoyed watching the ferries coming and going. The options for breakfast are brilliant and caters for all and the serving staff are lovely too. One lady even helped my 5 year old choose something to eat when she couldn't decide. Overall the hotel is an ideal stay for families with children and they offer good deals if you are planning on visiting the nearby Paultons Theme park. August 4, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cruise Holiday We stayed here the night before our cruise holiday. We had a very warm welcome, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was also good. All the staff were very nice. The location is perfect if you are needing to be near the cruise / ferry port and there are also shops and bars nearby. We also had hotel parking for the duration of our holiday. The taxi turned up on time to take us to the cruise port and it was also very simple to arrange for the taxi to pick us up on our return to Southampton. We would definitely stay here again. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room, great view We had a spectacular view over the docks (although not all rooms would have this of course). The hotel is certainly popular, but that did make the car park rather over-full one day when there was a business conference and the lifts were struggling to keep up with demand once or twice. It's nice to have aircon in hot weather of course, but it was set a bit too high in the lobby and bar for me and I found myself fetching a jacket from my room. These are small niggles - overall it was a very enjoyable stay with excellent staff. The breakfasts are good and at last you get free wifi in Holiday Inns! July 29, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by bad experience stayed at holiday inn Southampton on 12 july despite requesting cruise stay and go package on arrival was told we had been put on different package ,this did not include breakfast or cruise transfers .on question this with reception girl she agreed and said she would sort out taxis but could do nothing about breakfast.we were booked into a executive room not much different from normal room in size only one chocolate bar between two of us ran out of milk after two cups of coffee after a long drive we just wanted to sleep so didn't want to bother with this. next morning taxi arrived to take us to port only to be told we had to pay for it as not on account as we had been told.If we had not already booked to come back on the 30 September I would be thinking of looking for another hotel ; This experience was not usual as we have stayed several times before and always enjoyed it and have recommended the hotel to people we have met on the cruises don't know what happened this time? Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great option before a cruise. We have stayed here a few times before going for a cruise and it is excellent value with one of the Stay and cruise packages. You get Bed,breakfast,parking, taxi to and from the port and free WiFi if you join the loyalty scheme. This time we were upgraded to a suite and had a good breakfast buffet in the morning. This turned out to be a good choice since we could easily access the City Terminal through Gate 8, located right next to the hotel (Gate 10, the other gate, turned out to be much farther away). The room we stayed in was clean but was small and the furniture a bit old. The staff members were friendly, and overall, we would stay here again. July 17, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel is tired and basic, but location is good. Location is near city center. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, it has to be said that this is about the most basic Holiday Inn we have stayed in (and we have stayed in many as we travel the world). The room lacked storage space for clothes so we were forced to live out of suitcases for three days. The pillows were hard. On three occasions we had to wait 15 minutes for the elevator to arrive to take us down to the ground floor. It was very difficult to get in contact with reception. We tried several times during our stay, and no one picked up at reception. We were charged an extortionate amount for 4 short local phone calls, all in Southampton area, so we would advise anyone staying at this hotel not to use the phone. The wireless band width at the hotel is weak so we did not have good connection most of the time. The bathroom did have a nice strong shower, although the tiles were cracked on the floor; and both bathroom and room were very clean, so the staff cannot be faulted for trying to make guests comfortable. From the start the checkin went smoothly,and staff were attentive but not to intrusive,,got to our room which was comfortable enough, but without a small fridge,that was the downside. Great location for anyone travelling on a cruise as the liners where a small walk away, but also very close to Southampton city centre which we enjoyed some nice pubs and great restaurants close by. The bar and outside could do with a makeover but don't let that stop you staying their as ALL the staff that we spoke to were very attentive and nothing was to much trouble especially reception staff and the lady on breakfast who always had a smile.
