Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not What I Expected From Holiday Inn We have always had consistent, predictable excellent service with Holiday Inn. It was a complete shock to us that this Holiday Inn did not provide a free Continental Breakfast. On the contrary, it was $7ish, and the full buffet...$$$. When I got up early and did not want to wake my husband, I went to the lobby to get coffee (every other location has had coffee for guest). NO COFFEE! They said I had to come back after 7 am.! NEVER, has that been the policy at any location. I would not recommend this particular location. They seem more interested in money than service. July 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Surprised We had a good experience with our Holiday Inn stay in St. Augustine. We were close to attractions as well as close to the beach. What surprised us was that this Holiday Inn charged for breakfast. Other Holiday Inns where we have stayed have not. In an area with much more impressive dining options for tourists, we chose to spend our money somewhere else. We did have to report a toilet seat issue that the cleaning service should have easily discovered and rectified. The spa tub needed some cosmetic repairs on the outside of the tub. We found the window next to the tub in the bathroom a bit odd.. Opening the blind so someone soaking in the tub could see the TV at the end of the bed was one conclusion we found for adding the window. We had never seen a window in any bathroom in all our years of travel. I am not a fan of tubs out in the open in a bedroom either. So this was a clever compromise to give people a choice. The only issue I noticed was that the heating/cooling system did not appear to work as well as it could have. The breakfast buffet was decent. July 12, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Confortable beds and great parking We are glad that as always we spent our vacations at Saint Augustine Holiday Inn downtown. We saw a big change in the rooms, including bathrooms, claning etc. The only thing we didn't like was the change of the provider of the channels, Direct TV.... why?... because you are not giving the spanish channels, and we saw only HBO, and channels that doesn't have a big interest, we liked weather channel of course, but at list one spanish channel could be wonderful, like: Univision, we can see news in spanish, musical shows, novels(novelas) and children shows. We like to wash spanish channels, we don't understand that big change, we use to enjoy over there spanish channels always! We know you have a new manager etc. show them this and maybe we are going to spend our vacations at your hotel, as always. Thank you, July 4, 2013

If you use the Old Town Trolley, they will send a shuttle to pick you up and take you to the first stop to catch the trolley. The location was so convenient we had time to stop back to have a bite to eat, change and clean up between the end of the regular tour and the beginning of the Ghost tour. Our room was very clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job. July 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great room and location we took our 4 grandchildren for the week end and they didn't want to leave. they loved they had their own tv and could watch what they wanted to. there was plenty of room and close to everything. it had a nice pool and everyone was very helpful and kind. we would recommend it to everybody. We were greeted with very friendly staff members who took the time to direct us to the main highlights of the city. The location is perfect and just minutes from all the main attractions. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. I can't wait to come back and would recommend this hotel to friends and family. June 17, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel We were unable to get room keys during our entire stay and our traveling companions were actually unable to access their room. The staff had to break into their room in order to obtain their possestions, they were then moved to another room on another floor (no key for that room either). It was very inconvenient having to have the front desk escort us to our room everytime we wanted to gain entrance, This prevented us from coming and going because of the inconvenience. We were surprised that there was no emergency override for such a situation. We were also disappointed to see that there were no bar and really "no" restaurant. When we booked we were told the hotel had both. Other than that, the staff was very helpful and curteous. The hotel was very clean and the room very comfortable. And it is in a good location, we were able to walk everywhere and really enjoy the city as well as the people we came across. I would definately stay there again (as long as we could get a room key). Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant It was nice, after a long drive to be greeted by a young man sitting at a table, asking us if there were any questions about the area, where to visit, where to eat etc. Also the clerk at the desk was also pleasant and helpful. I think the bathrooms, especially the tile floor should be upgraded to help the appearance of the room. June 10, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DIRTY< DIRTY< DIRTY Our white socks were black after just a few minutes walking in the room. Outdated and dirty. There was a sign in the suite that offered a kitchen pack that included some paper plates, bowls, etc. at the front desk. When I asked the clerk she took me into the closed restaraunt where she started pulling items. She did the best she could but there was no " kitchenette pack." Location is not bad but it is not in the Historic District. Air conditioning system was very noisy. High pressure salesman in the front lobby pushing a "travel club." Gave him $20 to leave me alone. I thought he was selling tickets to attractions like the Hotel we stayed at in Savanah. May 29, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Security and cleanliness We're there for 3nights. After first, found both side doors to hotel would not close. Girl at desk looked at it. The next night I reported doors again. The next night one door closed, other still open. Third night report, no results. No one seemed to think this security was an issue. Also, salesperson set up in lobby trying to sell tix to events; I.e. trolley, tours. Obviously you get what you pay for. Reported bugs in bathroom. Just not what we would expect from HI. May 21, 2013

Overall, the hotel was better than expected, but not as nice as many Holiday Inn Express hotels. They do nothing to recognize thier Platinum Elite members and the breakfast at the hotel is overpriced for the average person. Most HIE provide free breakfast coupons to Platinum Elite members but not this one. Unfortunate. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and good quality This is second time I have stayed here and can only endorse my first impressions. Linen was exceptional quality and ultra clean. Room spacious and well equipped with large flat screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee and tea maker, table and chairs and great storage. Bathroom again spotless and great quality towels with nice soap etc provided. I took the breakfast package price this time and I am glad I did. the breakfast was great, good choice of hot food, cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. It was buffet style but staff on hand to cook eggs your way and help with coffee and assist persons unable to get their own food. Staff were all very courteous and polite with a happy demeanour. The walk to the historic district is easy, pleasant and safe. Took us only a few minutes and allows you to see more of this charming city than you would driving and then having the problem of parking. There was no bar open when we returned but really, do you visit St Augustine to drink at the hotel? Not a problem. April 21, 2013

The hotel was in an excellent location, close to everything.However, I booked the King with Whirlpool. The room itself could use some updated carpet and tubs. My husband and myself had to clean the whirlpool before we could get in it. Also, room service is only served during certain hours. I've stayed at many holiday inn's and I guess I just expected more for the room. April 12, 2013

Had extra stocked the second day. The room is really large compared to others we have stayed at in the area. Location was very good and bus took us to Ripleys and back the first day. Close to good resturants and to the attractions. Spent very little time in our car. Only downside was we had to wait for our room to be cleaned the second day and it was 3:00PM. I was done quickly and throughly. I would stay here again if we were to return to St. Augustine. April 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service by excellent staff Reserved about 20 rooms for a wedding in the area and had guests arriving from 3 days beforehand to the day of the wedding. Staff couldn't have been any nicer at coordinating the handing out of our hospitality bags, trolley tickets, room change requests, helping our guests understand what was going on when...and our wedding wasn't even AT their facility, we just all had rooms there! They know their stuff! In the weeks leading up to our event, every phone call we made with questions or requests was treated as if it was the most important thing they had to do at that time. Weather was horrible for the wedding day and they made sure we were comfortable in a side room so we could meet and greet family members all together. They made phone calls for us, supplied forgotten personal items - they made us feel welcome and cared about. The housekeeping staff kept our rooms clean and stocked with extra linens and amenities; all TVs worked great; internet access was free and worked well. Location is within easy walking distance of St. George Street and the trolley center. The dining area was clean and neat and we found the food more than acceptable in price, choice, and flavor. Our family farewell breakfast was staffed well and the ample amount of food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Both check-in and check-out were flawless. I cannot thank the staff enough for all of their help! March 30, 2013

We had some car problems and they helped us get in contact with a dealership that was able to help us. The hotel was located in a convenient location and the room was very comfortable. We were somewhat disappointed that the trolley tours stopped at 4:30 PM but that's life. March 24, 2013

The equipment in the gym was good. There are no free weights but that did not matter to me personally. There were no towels in the gym or wipes. March 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor front desk service and less than average room While the evening staff person who checked me in was very pleasant, the next morning I was very dissatisfied with the treatment by the male staff member running the front desk. He was less than helpful and bordered on rude. I decided not to eat breakfast at the hotel based on his treatment of me and my family. When I checked out, he didn't say "thank you", "hope you enjoyed your stay", "please come again" or anything. He just took the room key and smiled. After the FANTASTIC treatment and wonderful room my family received as a Priority member at the Savannah HIE, I was very disappointed with St. Augustine; both the service and the room were lacking. If I ever return to St. Augustine, it will NOT include a stay at the Holiday Inn Historic District hotel. March 21, 2013
