Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the renovations The rooms have been renovated & have new furnishings. I especially like the many electrical outlets. This has always been a problem at all hotels, now this HIE has added outlets and all the new lamps also have heavy duty outlets in their base. I used the shuttle this time since it was just a overnight stay. Both drivers were friendly & knowledgable. May 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Experience I have been staying at this property for over a decade. This property has never been in this poor condition in over 10 years. The staff is unable to post invoices or help a Platinum customer. I have been very disappointed in my last stay, each time I stay at this property the staff degrades. I have stayed at 2 different times this year alone. The bathrooms are in poor conditions the amenities are poor. The only thing that was a positive was the excellent job the person in the breakfast location, she was excellent in performance and personal attention to customers. May 27, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extra mile service We used this hotel for our out going flight and our return trip before going home. We left at 4 AM and the staff was excellent and very ready to put us in an easy to leave room without disturbing other guests. We arrived at 2 AM on our return and the room was once again an easy to get to room and ready for us. We were able to get a good nights sleep that morning also. The service of the front desk was awesome. They even offer us snacks when we checked in so late at night. Thank you Holiday Inn Express. The location of this Holiday Inn is awesome for air travel and there is a Village Inn and a Wendy's within walking distance. May 19, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room and Super Great Breakfast I stayed at this hotel on my way out to Adak, Alaska. While it was a brief stay, it was very comfortable and my room was very nice. The hotel was very clean, the staff very friendly and professional, and the breakfast was hearty, healthy, and delicious. I would like to make a special shout out to Jovie and her co-workers in the breakfast room for preparing the most delicious breakfast ever! She is very friendly, always has a smile on her face, and she looks like she enjoys her job. Thank you Jovie for helping to make my stay one to remember! April 3, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lazy/inefficient staff The housekeeping was particularly lazy. I stayed almost 3 weeks and after the first couple days they stopped cleaning. My housekeeper most of the time was "Lika". She didn't even come in some days. I had to ask the front desk for soap and towels. The breakfast room kept running out of fruit, oatmeal, and coffee. How do you run out of coffee?? A few times the garbage was overflowing too. However, the room was spacious. The pool and hot tub were maintained and a great place to relax after skiing. The stationary bike was broke in the fitness area but the treadmill working fine. Aesthetically, the hotel was beautiful. I loved the taxidermized animals and the fireplace in the reception area. From someone from the lower 48 it was very Alaska. Also was a good deal for the price especially considering the good locale. March 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, but airport shuttle is lousy. Nice, clean, comfortable, close-by place to stay for a night. However the airport shuttle experience leaves a lot to be desired. On pick-up it can take up to 20 minutes for the shuttle to arrive. When it's 10 degrees and windy that is a long time to be standing outside waiting. And if you're not out there when they pass by, forget about it. You can just start the wait over. Then when you do get picked up it is a 50/50 shot on whether you go straight to your hotel or first to the Microtel which shares the van with HIE. And from the Microtel they always take the long way around to HIE. I'll never understand that. Then in the morning they have a set schedule for shuttles to the airport. Odd times too. And sometimes their set times just don't work out right so you end up getting to the airport wayyyy early. For this reason, the shuttle alone, I just can't stay there anymore. There are too many other choices in the same area. March 24, 2013

Excellent hotel pick-up service from the Airport with Ben the driver, a local guy with loads of information and a super great attitude! Check-in was super fast with friendly staff, a great room with a view, and the breakfast the next morning was second to none. While enroute to Adak Island, this was the perfect rest stop before the final journey. Great job Holiday Inn Express! I'll be back! March 9, 2013

We requested and fan and they did get one for us. Loved the water pressure in the shower. Breakfast didn't look that appealing to my husband, but he had his heart set on Gwennie's down the street. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Bed, Plumbing and Heating not so good Room 334 had shower-bath plumbing that needs maintenance or replacement.. The thermostat was not working properly. These two items together made the stay a bit frustrating. I have stayed at this facility many times and normally have a pleasant stay. I was in somewhat of a hurry and did not take the time to report these issues to the front desk. January 27, 2013

Staff has gone out of their way many times for us even helping jump my vehicle on a miserable morning. Most of the Holiday inn express locations have been safe stays for us during our travels with the exception of Mission Texas- that one is a dump- poor maintenance, staff uncaring and nonresponsive . I was staying in a room in the middle of the top floor and had plenty of water pressure & hot water so if there was a problem previously they definitely corrected it because I took many long & hot showers. It was great. They also upgraded their television channels while I was there so most of the channels are HD now. The entire staff was friendly & helpful. I will definitely stay again. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lack of service Upon arrival I had to wait at the front desk for over 30 minutes for a worker to show his face. The only reason why He did is because I screamed and woke him up in the back room. He had indents in his forehead from sleeping in the back. I actually let him know sleeping on the job is not acceptable. He never acknowledged my Platinum status or was offered an upgrade or anything for that matter. During my stay there was 3 days I never received cleaning service in my room. It was not a pleasant experience at all for me & my son. November 30, 2012

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Night Staff This was a somewhat complicated stay as a present to my daughter on her 20th birthday. We didn't have enough points on either of our Holiday Inn accounts (we love to earn and use those points!) so we booked two days under one and one under the other. The hotel was able to combine the reservation and not force a change in rooms. My daughter checked in late and, being only 20, needed my permission to check in alone. The staff called me right away, got the form to me and let my daughter go on to her room after a long hard day of travel. I got the fax sent back, she let me know immediately that it was recieved and all was good. They gave her good recommendations on things to do near the hotel and offered her a late checkout. Excellent customer service is hard to come by, but they made it happen. November 25, 2012

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst experience yet at HIE I have stayed several times at HIE Anchorage, sometimes good, sometimes bad but my last saty was the worst. I have learned not to expect much in the way of Priority Platinum recognition from this hotel but this time there was none. The room was over priced, uncomfortable, with noise from neighbors through the walls and ceiling, and children running and crying in the hall through out the night. I travel to Anchorage 5 or 6 times a year but will not stay at this hotel again. October 23, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pool - poor. I always stay at your hotel whenever I get a chance to travel to Anchorage. The pool had so much chlorine in it that is made my Grandchild and daughter cough when they were in the pool. As soon as this was noticed they were taken out of the pool, given a long shower to get it off of them. It took a few hours before they were able to quit coughing. On sunday, my daughter was taking a shower, she could not take a nice relaxing hot shower, as it suddenly turned cold. When we alerted the staff, none were apologetic about these two circumstances. We were told we had to talk to the manager who wa not available until the following Monday. We were leaving on Sunday, so my daughter left him/her a phone number. He/she finally called on Monday, very sorry for all this, but that was it. Every spring we travel to Anchorage for the President's Day Hockey tournament and we always stay there with my grandson's team. This year I will not recommend that this hotel to the group. My suggestion is that they look elsewhere with a well maintained pool. October 19, 2012
