This Holiday Inn Express was recently renovated and looks great. The property is clean and well maintained.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
The location is great. I traveled to Grand Prairie on business. It is easy to get to the airport, Dallas, and more. Walking distance to 6 Flags and the sports venues.
Restaurants are accessible, but only one is easily walkable. The rest are fairly close though.
I stay at a lot of HIE for business and this was one of the best

Booked a stay from 27 Jan -30 2013. There was no mention of the ongoing construction (roof being re-shingled) on the website. Had I known there was going to be folks pounding on the roof I would have booked elsewhere.
When I went to check in I wasn't greeted as a platinum or told about the hotel feature/ amenities. I had to ask the desk clerk if my priority club number was on the reservation. She said NOPE... I showed her the confirmation email on my phone that showed my number was on the booking.
Getting my room required me to go through a maze of hallways and doors. The room smelled like mildew and the window looked directly at a wall. Maid service was slow and inconsistent. I returned to the hotel at 4pm and my room hadn't been cleaned. Also found long black hairs on the toilet.
The business center is 2 computers (one which didn't work) crammed into a corner of the lobby.
I was surprised to learn after returning home that the hotel had a breakfast and I hear a manager’s reception. The desk clerk said nothing about either. There were also no signs for either. As I was staying in the wing furthest from the lobby I wasn't using the lobby entrance… Would have been nice to know.
I have been using Holiday Inn hotels for 20+ years and can honestly say this was the worst yet. I am returning to Arlington in a few weeks. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn a few miles away from this one.

After a long day at work, I checked in and found that this hotel offered for a couple of hours, free hot snacks and ice cold drinks. All week too. Very nice to be able to sit with other road warriors and vent the day. Wish more hotels did something like this. Thankyou.

Be careful. Website did not say they were undergoing construction process of renovation. If you like sleeping with thump sounds all over your ceiling, it might be your cup of tea. I hope that the renovation finishes soon and makes it a more comfortable stay.

The beds are as hard as a brick....not nearly as clean as other HI Express locations I have stayed in the past. Hotel/motel is definitely older and starting to show its age....

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MJS1 Housekeeping Staff Needs to Do a Better Job
There was a tiny blob of some substance on my night stand with a long hair attached to it. This was disgusting and something that the housekeeping staff, if they were doing their job, could have easily cleaned. It leads one to believe that they were not obviously doing the basics in the room. There was another long hair on the bathroom wall above the toilet.
I did not report this because as a business traveler, I came into the room late, ready to crash, and I didn't want to be moved.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by JohninArlington Required room change - Smoke
Upon checkin, I was put into Room 108. This is the same room my business partner stayed in in prior weeks. He complained about the smell of smoke. After unpacking and going to sleep, I requested to be moved because the room is saturated with smoke. It appears to be masked, but I will NEVER stay in a room that smells like smoke. The staff relocated me, but this should not happen.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Orange49 SLOW DRAINING SHOWER
EVERY THING FROM TIME I CHECKED IN UNTIL I WOKE UP WAS JUST AS CUSTOM TO HOLIDAY INN STANDARDS... GREAT.
THE NEXT MORNING AROUND 6 A.M., TURNED ON SHOWER AND LATHERED UP HAIR AND THE WATER BACKING UP ANKLE DEEP. IF THE HOUSE KEEPING CLEANED THE TUB, HOW DID THEY NOT NOTICE THE WATER BACKING UP. GUESS I SHOULD START CHECKING THE SHOWER DRAINAGE BEFORE SETTLEING IN A ROOM. GRANTED ALL DRAINS WILL NEED CLEANING SOONER OR LATER, BUT PLUMBING SHOULD A MUST ON ROOM CHECKS. SLOW SHOWER DRAINAGE NOT A GOOD MORNING FOR ANYONE ANYWHERE.
I LEFT A NOTE OF PROBLEM WITH DESK ALONG WITH ROOM KEYS WHEN LEAVING.

Hotel is kind of hard to get around in. I was up in the far right wing so getting to the front desk was confusing. Also the toilet broke. Needs updating. Compared to other Holiday Inns it's not as nice. People working there were friendly and helpful but the value is not as good.

We were in town for a family funeral, when I booked I asked about berevement rates, i ws told yes they offered them but those rates were already booked, but I could use AAA if I had it. As it turned out there was a Cowboys game that weekend and they wanted to have the room to sell at a higher rate. The was fine, the food was fine. Location was great, close to everythig, if we had been there for a vacation. Need to install screens on the windows. When my son and I check in I was given a courtsey priority club bag, with one small bottle of water, nice, but 2 bottles. one for each person would be nicer. Housekeepers were pleasant, as well as staff.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by guido34a The trains
The staff is absolutely the best here. The room was more than comfortable but the location suffers from the nearby location of several trains which blow their whistles at all hours of the night. I’m a light sleeper and this was a problem for me. Otherwise, this is a great property.

This location itself needs some upgrades, it looks very out dated inside of the rooms, and I changed to three different rooms.
The first room we had, our fridge was not working, having a little baby we need to store milk, so we changed rooms. The next room we had there was an annoying truck alarm that was going off for about three hours every 15 min. right outside our window, so we had to switch rooms again, for the baby. The third room we had we finally got some sleep.
The experience itself was overall fair, but the staff was excellent, they did everything in their power to help us out, that is the reason i would recommend this location to friends and family, helpful and friendly service.

This is an older property that HIE must had acquired. U shape property and had to go to the otherside to use elevator, with our rooms on the opposite side. Need to do something about that.
Not good for elderly people or disable folks. Breakfast bar was good. Well stocked and clean. Front desk staff very helpful.
Liked the towels located at the end of the tub/shower.
Property could use some updating, but it not that bad to not stay there. Close to Cowboy Stadium and Texas Rangers ball park.
I would stay here again.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TiredWeddingGuest A little tired looking
Have stayed at several Holiday Inn Expresses recently and looked forward to relaxing at another one when in town for a family wedding. This Inn seems to be re-purposed from some other hotel chain or something. The lobby was up to what I expected and the breakfast area was OK but not as nice as my stays elsewhere. The hallway in my wing of the hotel was tired looking with stained carpet. I had been "upgraded" to a two bedroom which I didn't really need and my guess is that it once was a suite with a sitting room that they just put an extra bed into. I couldn't open the door all the way without hitting the rolling desk chair. I would have preferred just having a place where my wife and I could have sat down at the same time!. The fitness area was tiny and equipment sparse. Wasn't horrible but certainly not as nice as what I was expecting from other Holiday Inn Express stays in other cities.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Zeus Poor housekeeping / This facility is in need of updating.
This stay was disappointing. Toilet seat rocked back and forth.
Bathroom sink was clogged. Also ketchup packets were on floor when I arrived and continued to be there for my 3 day stay.
Sheets were very old and uncomfortable.
Also, Saturday evening I went down to front desk and asked for late check out on Monday and he proceeded to act like it was a big deal and told me I had to speak to a manager the following morning. Which I was unable to do since my schedule didn't allow. So,I actually had to call Sunday while I was attending a seminar.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CathyP Only one elevator in the building & no blow dryers
My daughter and I stayed at this Holiday Inn this past weekend. Overall we had a good experience. Hotel was clean typical Holiday Inn. Staff was very nice. Bathrooms had excellent lighting and great shower pressure, which are some times not so great in hotels. Bathroom was small, but had a really neat set up for the towels, etc in the back of the bath tub, have never seen this before, but really liked it. Breakfast was very good.
I think this is a new Holiday Inn property. But you can tell it is an older building. The building is U shaped. When you check in and you are on the second floor as we were, you are directed up the stairs to your room. No elevator in the lobby, just stairs. When I asked about an elevator to take our luggage up we were directed to the other side of the hotel where the elevator was located and of course our room was on the opposite end of the elevator. Got to the room and there was not blow dryer. Called down to the desk and was told they would have maintenance bring one up, but got a call a few minutes later that there were no dyers in any of the rooms that they were on order. Had this been stated on the amenties list or somewhere I could have brought my blow dryer from home, but instead had to go buy one.
I hope they can do something about the elevator issue, this is a neat hotel with high ceilings.
