This hotel needs to go SMOKE FREE. There is always a smell of smoke in the hallways and this time there was cigarette smoke coming out of the maintenance office and into the dining area.
I stay here several times per year and usually the staff is very friendly and readily acknowledges my IHG rewards membership. However, this time it was not mentioned and no arrival "gift" was given to me. Incidentally when two adults are booked, there should be two bottles of water and two snacks.
I really like the new healthier choices for breakfast. Still, when eggs are provided, there should be a choice between with and without cheese. How about adding low-fat chocolate milk for us runners?

Front Desk Lady sold us immediately. She was great when we checked in and friendly when we checked out - called us by name! When we need to stay again for the hospital, we will stay there.

I will go ahead and list the "pros" first since there are not that many.
This hotel is very close to Interstate 40, which makes travel and commute very easy. Traffic was a little congested, but I did not mind this at all. Staff and service was very good. Front desk attendants were very courteous and helpful.
Now, on to the "cons"....
I noticed the second floor had a faint body odor smell, but I was will to overlook this. When I arrived in my room, the smell had lingered its way there as well. The next day, the smell was still there and had not gotten an better. Breakfast choices were average, but the cleanliness of the food area was a joke. The pans and plates had rings on them where they had not been cleaned properly. The orange juice dispenser was constantly empty. The beds in the room were not comfortable at all. One guest had their car broken into and luggage stolen. When the guest had mentioned it to the staff, they were unresponsive and acted as they did not care. A major letdown.
Compared to other HIX hotels I have stayed at in the past, this was probably the worst! I have a return conference to Clemmons next March and I will NOT be staying at this hotel in the future.

Was here during a ice storm and could not have ask for a better stay. The breakfast was great and the rooms clean. The staff was excellent.

Good value and location. Close to Interstate and several descent restaurant choices. Staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful.
With 3 people in a room, it was very nice to have the sink / vanity separate from the bath/toilet.
Bed was a little hard and could use a bit better insulation around the windows.
We did not partake of the breakfast, so I cannot comment.
We were in-town for a funeral. Kind of sad that hotels have discontinued a bereavement discount.

Thanks for another great stay, the staff and management always makes us feel welcome. The breakfast was great , the rooms clean , lots of restaurant's in the area to choose from and right off the Interstate.

If You want a hotel that is very clean and priced reasonably .. then You should really consider this hotel. It's not the hotel with the marble floors and fancy chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. But it is the hotel which has a manager and staff that really cares about their guest and does so with "genuine" southern hospitality. I always stop at this hotel anytime I am anywhere near Winston Salem and Clemmons. The breakfast lady there always has the best breakfast .. and most importantly .. she makes sure everything is ALWAYS clean.
Thanks for the "Southern" hospitality !!!

Our room had a clogged sink that made a weird noise when the shower was turned on. We informed the front desk who had us to move to a different room. The new room did not have all the amenities of the previous room so we felt a little slighted. My son went to take a bath and there was hair in the tub. At this point it was late and we were all tired. So we decided to head to sleep. Needless to say that was easier said than done as the bed was very lumpy and the covers were tucked in weirdly. Last but not least we found a stink bug on the window curtains the next morning. The only bright spot was the staff during breakfast as they were very friendly and responsive to our needs. Something I ate however really made my stomach hurt. Insult added to injury! Needless to say, I won't be back.

Bed was to soft, almost wore out. Hair dryer in room was ancient and took so long to dry my hair it started smelling burnt. Staff was friendly but seemed to laid back on cell phones, watching tv etc. elevator cold.

Motel shows its age. Heavy rains caused leak in roof near elevator that is an add- on at one end of building. A little inconvenient to half of the rooms. However, the staff is wonderful, friendly and very responsive to any request. Breakfast was excellent. We shared adjacent rooms with two daughters and two grand babies and loved every minute of it. There for 3 days and 2 nights.

We have stayed at various chains in many cities in the U.S. and abroad and we have found this Holiday Inn Express in Clemmons to consistently be a good value. The manager and the rest of the staff are on the ball and always willing to help with any request you may have. It's location is convenient to many restaurants and shopping. We plan to stay at this Holiday Express again when we're in the area.

Although this hotel is beginning to show its age (i.e. some things are noticeably worn), it was peaceful, clean and a good value. The shower/bath and toilet are in a small room with a door but the sink is really in the hotel room itself - this is (in my opinion) less than ideal but was tolerable and didn't present much of a problem. Breakfast was the standard HIE fare - the breakfast area was kept neat and clean.

The only issue we have is the pricing. It seems the further in advance a reservation is booked and paid, the more discount from the regular rate would be gained.

We've stayed at this hotel previously but the quality has gone down. The hotel staff was great, except for the housekeeping. They do not do a good job of cleaning the hotel rooms. The bathroom floor corners were thick with dirt. The wall in our room had what looked like wet Kleenex stuck to it, like something a kid might have done, and even when we moved the table so it was more noticeable it wasn't removed. They never restocked the coffee and we stayed for four nights. We didn't have a do not disturb sign and they were at our door early every morning even though we weren't checking out. They didn't put away the iron and ironing board. Just the kind of things you normally expect from a hotel housekeeping staff. Plus the shower did not have any pressure. When the room is not clean it's hard to enjoy your stay and I wouldn't stay there again.

They always say .. breakfast is the most important part of the day !! I have to agree. I would just like to share what I have seen and noticed from this Holiday Inn Express hotel in Clemmons. The staff and management both are very prompt, courteous and nice. But this time .. the breakfast lady caught my attention. Please know that I stay at Holiday Inn hotels all the time. It's my work .. and it's my life.
But there is a breakfast lady at this hotel (I believe her name is LaDonna# that stands out in my mind .. beyond ALL of the Holiday Inn hotels I've ever stayed in. I am hoping her Manager will get this review.
I was eating breakfast one morning and I noticed a hotel guest #adult) was using their fingers to get the bacon out of the tray .. and NOT the tongs. She quickly intervened and asked the man "politely" to please use the tongs.
I have never seen anyone at any of the Holiday Inn hotels in the U.S. stand up for their guest like this lady did at HIXClemmons. I was "speechless". I have never seen anyone correct the guest when they needed it and when they were in the wrong .. like this lady did. ALL while looking out for the hotel guest in mind. She did what was right.
I want the Manager .. and the Manager's manager to please read this review.
And most importantly .. I would like to "Thank" the breakfast lady for what so few never do.
But she did what was right.

Stayed for a football weekend with friends. Staff were very nice and we enjoyed our stay. Property was convenient but it has seen its better days. Rooms especially need a bit of TLC as the paint is worn and chipped. The bathroom is in need of updating as the plastic tub was a bit stained and the faucet dripped continuously. If property condition is not updated I expect it will soon not meet Holiday Inn standards.

I picked this place for the location. It is dated compared to other similar hotels I have stayed at. It is right next to a busy interstate so not very quiet unless you have a room away from that end of the property. I was surprised that the room was not fully cleaned as I had not seen a place like that in awhile. I think they need to update this location and try harder to keep it clean.

I had a really good stay when I was in Winston-Salem on business. Clemmons is only a couple of miles west of town on Hwy 40 but it is definitely cheaper to stay there then in town.
The staff was friendly and the service was great. As always breakfast was fantastic.
My only complaint was my tub was a little noisy and made "creaks" every time I moved.
Good value for the money.

The good thing about this hotel was the room was quiet. If you stay there when it is full, be prepared for a lukewarm shower. On the third day of our 5 night stay, our room was not made up. When we called the front desk to ask for towels and tell them about the room not being made up, the first thing they said was, "Did you leave the privacy note in the door all day?" I would expect them to apologize first and solve the problem; not try to pass the blame to us. (We did not leave the privacy note on, by the way.) After asking, they did take a little off the cost of the room. If cleanliness is next to Godliness, this hotel is in purgatory. It's not dirty really, just dated and grungy. The day after our room was not made up, they made up the room but did not leave extra toilet paper, glasses or make up wipes. When I went to the front desk to ask for some, the lady was not really very happy to help. We stayed here only because our other choices were filled for parent's weekend and hopefully will not ever have the need to stay here again.

The suite is fairly big compared to regular guest room and the Jacuzzi is gorgeous! We really enjoy the stay and the bed is quite comfortable. Lots of good restaurant around and the environment is very quite. Highly recommend.

Typical of what we consider a room with Holiday Inn Express being clean,well furnished, and well above the standards of Choice Hotels. Grateful, since we had a pet, of being located on the first floor.
