So, we were in town for business, but also to catch a Tigers game. I was greeted and welcomed as a Club Member, but as with so many hotels in the chain was not offered an upgrade. Was it possible there were no upgrade rooms available? Sure. But not even a mention of upgrade, unavailable or not. This is a common theme among hotels in the chain. My experience with the chain is about 40% mention the upgrade.
Even though there was a game the night I stayed, I suspect an upgrade was available. It was a Monday night, and it just wasn't as crowded as I've seen it there. Even breakfast the next morning wasn't very crowded. So I suspect the location doesn't follow the policy of free upgrades for Platinum members. I don't think there's any "penalty" from the IHG, so why offer one?
Speaking of breakfast, it was basically standard HI Express fare. I don't suggest the sausage, though. Interestingly, the bacon was the thinnest sliced bacon I have ever seen. Paper thin. Overall not horrible and I'll consider staying here again. You can't beat the location if you're going to a game. But call ahead and ask if they are doing maintenance on the water supply. I feel sorry for my neighbors when at 5:00 am I turned the water on to take a shower and an amazingly loud screeching noise came from the pipes.

shuttle service was the best I have experienced.
Very good, responsive drivers.
They only had one shuttle vehicle, could use at least 2.

My husband and I stayed there for an overnight stay, for a military function we had going on Downtown. The hotel was very nice inside and the rooms were very nice and the bed was comfy. The water pressure in the shower was really good as well. My only complaint is that the elevators could be redone in the inside and move a little quicker. Other than that it was a nice experience. I would definetely stay there again.

We had to wait for an hour to check in when we got there when check in started. More staff were needed to clean all the rooms and to check people in. You had a wedding and a tigers game that day, so you would expect to be busy and thus add more staff. The elevator didn't work sometimes and we were on the 17th floor! Room door and bathroom door sticks so hard to open them. I had to shove the bathroom door open when I took a shower. The location is great for a Tigers game, but the experience is not worth it.

I traveled 5 hours the day before I was to attend an all day conference which was critical to my job. After arranging a wake up call the night before, I was shocked to be awoken by a phone call from one of my colleagues the next morning. I had received no wake up call which meant i was tremendously late for my meeting. I did not have time to either eat breakfast that morning or even shave for my meeting. I was sure to point out to my employer General Motors) that it was as a result of the hotel that I was forced to show up late and unshaven to a senior management meeting.
