Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, nice hotel, very quiet We had a weekend get-a-way to Detroit in order to enjoy a baseball game and a little time away. The hotel was in a perfect location, just a 10-minute walk from Comerica Park, and in a decent part of the city. The hotel staff was super friendly at check-in, the food from the attached restaurant was pretty good and our room was very quiet -- no complaints at all about the noise, despite being there over a weekend where they were sold out. We would have no problem staying here again in the future. August 18, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Slept like a baby Isn't the whole reason for staying at a hotel to get a good nights sleep? I fell right to sleep, slept all night, and awoke totally refreshed. After a quick shower, we went downstairs for breakfast ( we did have to hurry, they only serve to 9:30). If there is any drawback it was the time table for breakfast. Other than this I would totally recommend Holiday Inn Express August 18, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Needs improvement Here were the issues I had: 1. The water on one day was not warm so my wife and I had to take a cold shower. 2. Parking is $20 and it took about a half an hour to retrieve our car. The main issue is that multiple people who showed up after us got their car before we did. There is a lot behind the hotel that charges $10 and you can park yourself. I recommend that. I am a member and was charged parking. The two people I traveled with had their parking waived due to AAA membership. Odd that AAA membership gives better benefits than IHG membership. 3. The breakfast ended at 9:30 during the week. The pancake machine was empty at 9:10. I asked for it to be refilled so I could get pancakes around 9:20. I was told the breakfast would end by 9:30 and they had to throw the mix away if they opened a new bag and it was not all used so they did not open a new bag for anyone who wanted pancakes near the end of their breakfast. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible Would never stay at this hotel nor recommend. The area can be contemplated and sadly the receptionist and hotel does need serious working on. I'm not impressed one bit. August 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Recommend if you love a great breakfast We came back home for a family reunion and most of the out of town family stayed here. The staff was friendly and most helpful for our five day stay. The rooms were clean and smelled nice, the bed and pillows were comfortable. What we liked the most was breakfast. I travel a lot and appreciate that I can get my day started with a good meal. This was the best breakfast offering I have had for it to be free or that is included with the room rate. You get a full meal including meat, pancakes (pancake machine) eggs, and biscuits as well, and all the fixings to go with it. Not just the sweet rolls and croissants, you got the works. There were plenty of places to walk and visit, with lots of concerts downtown while we were there. We were also able to sit downstairs in the great room without being charged extra for using it, it was public space. The staff even late night was patient and even then helpful if needed. I would recommend this hotel to visitors downtown and would come back again. August 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1 Have stayed at this particular hotel at least half a dozen times in the last 5 years. We have never had an issue and will continue to stay here on our future visits to Detroit. August 14, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This hotel not like others Curtains dusty, dust in vents, some parts of ceiling dark, small restrooms, damp rooms,my car got dented under the valet service care, elevator stopped with person in there. This hotel not like the other chain holiday inns. Very disappointed. August 12, 2014
