The staff at the front desk, the Valets and shuttle drivers are great. ReAlly like the people working there, with exception of housekeeping. They entered my room daily, but didn't make my bed or empty the trash. By the time I left, I had 8 bars of soap still sealed, sitting on the counter. Apparently soap is a priority even if you brought your own. It was noisy both from street noise and other guests stomping around. I stayed for 23 days straight, so none of this was a fluke. I will ask my company to put me somewhere else next time and will gladly pay the difference out of my pocket.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Beds were less than comfortable
When we usually stay at a Holiday Inn Express, we have been very comfortable on the beds and bedding. However, this stay was much less than comfortable - in fact, the beds were flat or sagging - we did not have the best night's sleep. And the hotel equipment that was outside of our room on the roof didn't lend to a peaceful night either. We were disappointed in our stay at this Holiday Inn Express.

We were in town for Red Wing games and chose this hotel for its location... great choice! The location was perfect... easy on/off of the People Mover and within walking distance of Joe Louis Arena. The staff was genuinely friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast had a lot of variety and was restocked frequently. We will definitely stay here again!

I really enjoyed the stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Detroit Downtown. It was 2 blocks in walking distance to the Cobo Center. Very convenient. The staff was friendly and had great customer service. I would return in the future.

-Staff was disrespectful and snarkily commented how we booked through an online third party website when we checked in
-Breakfast was ridiculously crowded and items could not be replenished fast enough, so there were only 1-2 options to eat instead of the full breakfast bar. Milk tasted stale. We were forced to eat somewhere else.
-Our smoke alarm went off at 5 AM, we evacuated down 9 flights of stairs in our pajamas and asked the front desk why no one else was evacuating. They said the alarm was only in our room and blamed us for smoking. None of us smoke and we were all sleeping.
-Some guy followed us (4 ladies) off the elevator to our room and kept knocking on the door. Called security. They took forever to respond, that we had to call again. Security called us after they made him leave: accused us of having his jacket and not letting him get it, said they did not believe that we do not know him. (We never let him in the room and have NO CLUE who this guy was. Literally some creeper from the elevator.)
-Housekeeping kept continually knocking to start cleaning even though we had the 'do not disturb' sign hung and it was hours before checkout.
-We were never given a bill under the door, as all other hotels do. Turns out I was charged several random extra fees and two days later still have not been emailed a bill.
-Do not count on the shuttle. There are too many people trying to take it and it was super slow. We had to call an Uber to make our show on time.
-Room was falling apart (carpet threadbare, many things broken); ice machine was broken; maid didn't replace our room's coffee each morning.
-Valet was super slow, we missed reservations even though we gave them 20 minutes to get car
-This is the worst hotel experience I have ever had, and I travel ~6 time a month for both personal and work purposes. I understand we happened to be in town during the auto show, but that is no excuse for ALL these issues.

Estuve en el hotel con mi hijo para el autoshow de Detroit del 2015. El hotel esta ubicado perfectamente accesible a todo el centro de la ciudad. Muy cerca de la estacion del "People Mover" que es una gran alternativa para moverse por las areas adyacentes. El Personal fue muy amigable y atento especialmente Miguel que se preocupo que todo fuera excelente. La tranquilidad y limpieza de la habitacion y las areas comunes fue de maravilla. El desayuno era uno muy variado, delicioso y nutritivo. Definitivamente volveria a quedarme en este hotel.

I traveled from Puerto Rico and stayed 4 nights at this hotel to bring my son to the 2015 Auto show at COBO Center in Detroit. Upon arrival the staff was very helpful and polite, especially Miguel. He was very nice and helpful and made sure we were comfortable in our room and all our needs. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was great. The hotel is ideally situated to hop around to various parts of the downtown. Also very close to the People Mover, this is another great way to get around downtown. I would definitely use this hotel again and recommend it to my friends and anyone.

Everything was great except my mattress too large for the bed, which caused one side to sag, and a water leak in my room 805 bathroom.
