Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by No room at the Holiday Inn Having booked and paid for 2 rooms (in May) for a stay in July after a transatlantic flight we were told on checking in that our rooms had been given to another guest. Alternative rooms could not be found at other nearby hotels and after having been in the hotel lobby for an hour we were told we could have one room for 5 of us to share. Given it was 1am by this time we felt we had no alternative but to accept it. The manager of the hotel chose not to reply to an email asking for an explanation as to why the rooms I had booked and paid for were given to another guest who presumably had not paid in advance for these same rooms. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and great location I had a longer than usual layover between planes and traveling from Europe. I felt like crashing for a few hours of sleep at a nearby hotel and was glad I chose this one to spend a night. The staff was very friendly, gave me perfect directions to their shuttle and the room was cozy. The only minor drawback was that i had to wait for the shuttle to take me to the property longer than i expected (over an hour). I must have just missed the one before. Had no problem getting on the first one back to the airport at 4 am. Great, very close location to JFK! July 25, 2014

The room was neat and well presented. coffee and tea machine was a welcome gesture. Got us picked up from airport quickly and checked in super fast so we could get a few hours of sleep. Rooms clean and spacious. Bed very comfortable. Next morning staff helped us find a cab....once again very quickly! Next time I'm in area I will stay here again. Much larger cleaner rooms than the Holiday Inn JFK. July 24, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly counter folks but dirty room My wife and I stayed at the JFK Holiday Inn Express the weekend of July 18 2014. The folks at the front counter were very friendly but when we got to our room, it had a "non fresh smell" and the bed sheets were obviously from the previous resident. We called down to the front desk, and they quickly sent up a fresh set of sheets but the fact that we had to ask, was a disappointment. The breakfast was served from 5am-9am but when I arrived at 6:30AM they were out of fruit and pancakes (another disappointment) This was the worst experience, I've had at a Holiday Inn Express, but at least the people were friendly. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worth the price We booked a double queen room but got in late and they upgraded us to two rooms for the price of one. King beds this time. Everything was perfect except we were at basement level and the noise was a little much for us. Otherwise they run a great hotel as far as we could tell! Value for $ for sure. Comfortable beds, delivery close by. Outstanding front office service. We would stay there again if needed to be in JFK airport area again. Thumbs up! July 23, 2014

The hotel is a well-oiled machine when dealing with travelers in transit. The check in was fast, they gave us information about food options, shuttle times, and breakfast, and then sent us on our way. The room was clean and comfortable. The shuttle is free and takes you right to your terminal in just a few minutes. A great experience overall. July 19, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont Stay here The quality of service was very poor. The hotel had a power outage upon my arrival. The front desk staff was in total disarray. I arrived at the hotel roughly 10:30 pm after driving 7 hours. The hotel cancelled my reservation without noticed because they could not get an authorization from my card the day of my arrival So instead of calling to confirm if I was arriving late; they cancelled it. Mind you I am a priority club member. I was informed by the staff that this is their policy. I questioned, why would you try to get an authorization from my card in my file, what if I planned to use another card. He just kept saying it ways thier policy. I told Bryan that in my confirmation there was nothing stated about them doing it. Tiffany, another front desk staff member did not want really help with checking in that night do to it being very hectic so she walked away from the customers waiting to get helped to continue chatting with someone from her country and returned to only stand at the counter and not offer her help to anyone. Byran, was able to find me a room but it was one bed vs. two beds and I was traveling with my daughter. The room I was in was a very small corner room. Bryan tried make a REALLY bad situation better by discounting $50.00. I was ok with it. I requested something in writing from him; his computer was now having issues and Tiffany reluctantly helped. Bryan explained to her what needed to be done. Needless to say, she charged my card incorrectly. I was never informed that I needed a password to access the internet; once I was aware, I called from my room numerous times only to have the call be disconnected. I send my daughter downstairs to get the code while she is downstairs I decided to call again from the room and call from my cell, Bryan answers the line that my cell is coming in on. I am furious. The night manager was never on the property even though there was a sign that stated she was there. The crew that worked June 28, felt like it was the keystone cops. They were tripping all over each other. I understand things happen but this team did not have a plan in place to keep the customers calm and happy. July 17, 2014

The hotel facilities are pretty much what you might expect - adequate, clean accommodations - but the staff was incredible. The front desk staff went above and beyond to welcome us, recommend a local favorite haunt for dinner, and help us find our way around the area. I noticed them giving the same exceptional service to the customers ahead of and behind me as well. It was hands down the best experience I have ever had checking into a hotel. July 13, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place, great staff, I needed a place to stay in NY and this hotel at JFK was close enough and the price was right. I was not prepared to be so wowed by the front desk staff attitude, helpfulness and friendliness. They were a 10 on each of those. The room was a little small, but I didn't expect bigger in the NYC area. The bed was great, the shower was clean, you could proverbially 'eat off the floor'. Quiet, relaxing, and an unexpected 'happy hour' welcome in the breakfast room and they served cold beer with salsa and corn chips. Just really nice and everyone went out of their way to be nice. It was nice being recognized as an IHG rewards member with a little care package of 2 bottles of water. July 7, 2014

The two front disk staff I dealt with were not professional, mainly the guy who did the check inn for me. He did not explain almost anything for me while I saw him explaining for other guests when they had checked inn! Anyway, the hotel is good for a stopover at JFK as it is very close to the airport and they have the free shuttle bus service. By the way, the staff did not even ask me if I am a member of IHG Rewards Club. July 7, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by One night appraisal Staff at the check in counter were friendly, but the supervisor was stern, authoritarian, and not so friendly and did not project any kindness or understanding. Apparently, he was bothered more by the electricity modification underway when we arrived. Other guests that arrived or departed throughout the night were extremely noisy slamming doors and bumping luggages going and coming causing us to not be able to sleep as soundly as we paid to do. Location to airport is good, and though the shuttle arrived late, the driver did well with helping load the many pieces of luggage passengers had. July 6, 2014

I appreciated being close to the JFK airport so I can catch a free shuttle for an early morning flight. The room was large with a reading chair, comfortable bed, and clean large bathroom. And there was a blackout on the night that I was in the room. Breakfast timing was too short for too many people. If the hotel is on full occupancy, perhaps the breakfast time could be longer to accommodate to the demands. July 4, 2014
