March 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Holiday Inn Express Madrid Airport by Indian who is Vegetarian Nothing much close by other than the Airport. Very standard and limited choice for breakfast, especially if you are a vegetarian. Value for money. Taxis available close by. Wi-Fi should be free to make the deal truely value for money. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poorest Example of a Holiday Inn Rooms were dirty as well as the hotel. Staff made you feel like they were doing you a favor just for asking for change at the front desk. Hotel is misrepresented as an airport hotel when they don't even have a shuttle that takes you to the airport. One of the worst stays ever and will never use or recommend this hotel. They give Holiday Inn a bad name. February 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Everything but internet Everytthing was quite good at this hotel. I apreciate the good service provided, the tidyness of the rooms and people there was very nice and helpful. There are only 2 things i missed there: Free Internet for guests. Airport.shuttle service. Those 2 things would be good strengths for this Hotel in my opinion. February 26, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pavement Pete We used this hotel twice in a period of just over three weeks. On the first occasion our experience was the better of the two. There were two things which were not acceptable. First, the Television in our room would not work, the receptionist did her best but could not get it to work either. Second, The salad I ordered should have included tuna, it did not. When I asked about it, the waitress enquired in the kitchen and was told that they did not have any. How can a hotel run out of tinned tuna? Second stay, we booked in at ten pm and really needed a good nights sleep as we had to drive to Alicante the next day. Unfortunately you also had a large booking for, what we understand was a church sponsored group of Mexican teenaged boys who had no responsible leader. Needless to say our stay was far from heavenly. We called reception Five times to control their door slamming, shouting and riotous laughing. On the fifth call, approximately 03.30 the receptionist came up and managed to get the boys next door to open their door. After a very loud altercation, they eventually quietened down. Needless to say we got very little sleep as they were up again at about 08.00. May I suggest that you change the floor tiles in your bathrooms. Although they are mopped it seems it's impossible to make them look clean. Dirt seems to become ingrained in patches and looks really bad. May I also suggest the use of the traditional paper bands round the toilet seat. It simply gives peace of mind to your customers that it has been cleaned. January 23, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Choose another hotel I made the mistake of booking this hotel as it was "near the airport". The taxi to and from the airport cost more than the room did! With regards to the hotel, while I have to say the reception staff seemed friendly and competent, the cleaners and maintenance staff obviously do little or no work. The room was dirty with visible dirt and dust on the carpet and furniture and the bathroom could only be described as a joke. Water came out of every part of the shower except the shower head, the toilet seat was hanging off and nothing in the bathroom looked as if it had been cleaned since it was last used. All in all, a mistake booking this hotel and I certainly won´t be using it again or recomending it to anyone else! January 10, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by near airport hotel THE Holiday Inn Express is near the airport. The taxi though is quite expensive for they have no shuttle service but they do offer good breakfast. This is the only hotel though that asked for Euro 50.00 for iron among all the HOliday Inn Hotels or Intercontinental Hotels I have stayed with. The tea and coffee in the room was only given to us on the first day and nothing more. The soap and shampoo was also not refilled everyday we do had to ask reception everytime. Internet is only in the lobby. There are no restaurants or anything near the hotel. It is in an area that is far from any commercial area. January 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cheap and good location I stayed here with my family for 3 days and were satisfied with the hotel, we stated in our reservation 2 adults and 1 child and the sofa bed was ready when we checked in and proper amount of towels and toiletries in the room. Here are some plus/minus on this hotel. Plus *Used the super saver rate and paid a fair price. *Central location between airport, downtown, train, bus station and the soccer stadium so i would not stay here if i had a flight to catch the next morning. *Free breakfast (european style, dont expect pancakes or waffles) *Staff was helpful and only 1 lady was rude and mad when asked for any help. Minus *Hotel is fairly new so not very well known by taxi drivers, more people know the hotel across the street. *No complimentary airport shuttle but there is a van available for about twenty euros. *Next to highway so no restaurants in walking distance. Internet at this and any other hotel will cost you and you will only be able to connect to 1 device. Overall i would stay here again because my plan was to stay downtown all day and explore. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad experience There was no A/Cin the corridors. The A/C in the room did not work well. In truninng it on, the heating system worked instead the A/C, warming up the room with no control, waking me up int he night time and I had to open the widndow to cool down the room. The bed was really hard and I had to lay down in the bed-sofa. November 21, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not near airport, or anything for that matter The hotel is no way near the Airport. There is no shuttle service from the airport so you can either get a taxi or get a public bus. If you can't speak Spanish (which unfortunately I couldn't# then getting the bus is near impossible. It drops you off in the middle of nowhere with roughly a mile walk to the hotel. You can get a taxi, however beware as they will be annoyed. For me the taxi driver was annoyed because he had waited 4 hours for a fare and he was taking me somewhere where a public bus runs; he took me all round the houses in order to make enough money. The area which the hotel is situated is awful. There is nothing in the near vicinity. The staff are really friendly, this was the only plus point of my stay. I would recommend that if anyone is staying in Madrid to stay somewhere on the Metro line #for example Sol) and then get the Metro which takes you to all the terminals and is compared to getting to this Hotel extremely easy! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Location has nothing to do with airport There is no shuttle service and no taxi want to go there in the evening. November 19, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Airport Hotel with hidden costs We chose this hotel because it specified Airport hotel, and we were having a stopover to change flights on a journey. We also wanted to visit central Madrid. Previous experience was that metro travel in the city was very cheap, so transport from the airport should be quick, cheap and easy. The one night stop cost us 80€ in taxi fares! 26€ each way from the airport and 18 and 10euros to and from the nearest metro station. The situation was in a run-down industrial estate at the side of an urban motorway, and although physically near the airport, was nowhere near the terminals. There was very little choice of restaurants in the area., Although the room was fine, and the staff friendly and helpful, the extra costs involved qualified this as the most disappointing hotel we have ever stayed in. May we suggest that these extra costs be clearly specified in your publicity material, as we feel we have been seriously misled. November 17, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dirty & No Airconditioning This is the first Holiday Inn that I checked into in my life which by no means look or feel like Holiday Inn. You simply have to believe it by looking at the signs. Room was hot when I checked in and I turn on the switch on the thermostate which made it hotter since hotel had a heater only NO AIRCONDITIONING. When I called the front desk they asked me to open the window which is right next to busy highway to the airport resulting in lack of sleep and fatigue before the flight. Staff was unhelpful for any thing I asked. Breakfast was OK but hotel is close the airport which was the only thing I liked. Holiday Inn should inspect this kind of hotels more often which give them a bad name for their reputaion. October 29, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected Hotel room walls where dirty, also the Television didn´t work and i missed the fact of having a free shuttle from Hotel to Airport. October 28, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for a late night arrival at airport. Ideal for a late night arrival at airport without planning for a longer stay. I had a hire car so was able with a bit of map planning to go straight to the hotel. Room was just as expected for Holiday Inn - no real frills, but none expected. Straightforward booking. Good breakfast in morning and easy check-out. September 20, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A night before and after our holiday We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express before and after our holiday. There are only two issues....1) no complimentary transport to and from the airport. When booking we realised that there was no shuttle service but as the hotel was only a short distance from the airport, we decided that the this wasn't an issue, however taxi's didn't want to take us as it was a short journey and they had waited a long time in the queues, my daughter travelled by bus and ended up walking a very long way dragging the suitcase behind her. She is bilingual but evenso she still had terrible trouble getting to the hotel and was very upset by the time she arrived having walked alongside a very fast motorway, a young lady on her own! 2) the hotel is really a long way from anything else so unless you eat in the hotel it is another taxi ride to the centre of Madrid or a bus journey that took us over 45 minutes by the time we arrived in the centre having caught 2 buses! When we travelled by taxi it was 25€. On the internet there are other hotels that offer shuttle services with equally good rates and next time we wouldn't book there unless they decide to either share the shuttle that the hotel opposite offers or have their own service. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Dishonestly named....Too far from the airport!! I wish I'd read the reviews on this site before booking. This hotel is called Madrid Airport - but in our case, arriving really late at night and leaving early the next day involved 2 taxi journeys costing 29 euro each. While the room itself was cheap, it wasn't when you factor in the 58 euro return trip in the taxi. Also, the hotel has no ATM on site. I was told that the nearest was back at the airport. This begs the question, what is a customer supposed to do if they arrive at the hotel with insufficient funds for the taxi fares. We literally had just enough cash to pay for our taxis having just over 60 euro between us. What makes the whole thing worse is that the crowne plaza next door is part of the same chain but does provide a shuttle service. Why do they not share the same bus? I feel that this hotel is a complete rip off and dishonestly named. I would not stay there and wouldn't advise anybody to either unless they have their own transport In additon to this, our room suffered from road noise all night, had an air con system that obviously could not cope with the temperature and we could hear a small child crying periodically - not great when you are only expecting 5 hours sleep! Many of the cups at the coffee machine in the foyer were dirty. Staff at the desk didn't seem interested. August 30, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable room, bad service We arrived in Madrid took a taxi from the airport to the hotel, this cost 22 euros, only to find that the Crown Plaza Hotel was next door, which has a shuttle service, as these hotels below to the same group, then why isn't is a shared shuttle service. The room was ok on first sight, however the childrens bed was very uncomfortable, the room was to small for a family of four. Went to use the shower and the shower head wouldn't stay in place. It was over a ten minute walk to the train station, wasn't to bad expect when the temperature in up in the 40's. Breakfast was a joke, a free for all, luckly to get a table, or food which was enjoyable to eat. We will not be staying at this hotel again, its lets to Holiday Inn Express chain down. The main reason for booking Holiday Inns is because they are usually all the same standard, this is not. August 23, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NOT WORKING TV UNCONFORTABLE BED MADE MY REMIND MY ARMY TIMES IN A VERY UNCONFORTABLE BED ....POOR ATTITUDE OF RECEPTION STAFF TO SOLVE PROBLEM WITH TV ....ONLY GOOD REMARK GOOD SERVICE AT THE BAR ! July 24, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable, but not very convenient! This Holiday Inn is VERY nice. The room was huge and very nice. Comfy bed, big bathroom, nice TV, etc. However, the hotel is NOT very convenient to the airport. A taxi is about 20-25 euro. The Bus takes you to and from, but you have to switch buses and go over a huge highway overpass which is difficult with suitcases. It would probably be a better idea to just get a hotel in the city center or somewhere reachable by metro, as the metro goes to the Madrid airport from Nuevos Ministeros. (only about a 15-20 minute ride). Also, there is no free internet here, you have to pay a pretty expensive fee. About 4 euro an hour. So, if you dont mind spending the transportation money/internet fees, stay here. It is a very comfortable hotel. However, you could probably stay in the city center for the same price and it may even be more convenient. However, it probably will not be as nice! July 17, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Awful location and dirty room The hotel is completely inaccessible from the airport. There is no shuttle, and cabs won't drive you there. The shower was broken and the shower head wouldn't stay up. The walls were dirty. The beds were uncomfortable. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear people in the next room and then screaming children in the hallways starting at 8 AM in the morning. In order to get downtown we had to walk 10 minutes in a bad part of town to a bus. Once the bus dropped us off we had to take two different metros to get to Puerto Del Sol. There is a reason this is the cheapest IHG option in Madrid. July 16, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by mala estadia Muy mala el servicio, las habitaciones no parecian de Holiday inn y todas las paredes sucias. July 13, 2012
July 13, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Comfortable bed and bad service Poor service: Hotel does not provide a shuttle and it is too far from the airport although it calls itself "Holiday Inn Express Airport". WiFi access is too expensive and poor quality Broken iron and no alternatives. July 11, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by food good The food we had in the restaurant was both good value and also good quality. The room was comfortable and the charge for a dog was reasonable. The only unfortunate thing was that the surrounding environment is still not built on and gave an untidy appearance spoiling the atmosphere clearly there is little the Hotel can do about this.
