Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Eddy75 Good location but old interior
Not very smart to rent 3/4 of the floor to a group of teenager and to us! Was very load...
The suite needs work, the interior is old, and need to be remodeled or as a minimum repainted
The staff was very friendly and very efficient

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by cvm1 Nice staff old rooms
This is a good location close to what you need.
Very good staff always friendly
My room was tired to say the least
Furniture worn out
baseboards beat up
lights and fixtures covered in dust
Bathroom fixtures worn out, sink looked like a three year old caulked it in.
Thought as a Platinum member I could get an upgrade and was told I did?

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Carmindy Great Staff, Good Location, Walls paper thin
This very affordable hotel is located perfectly near Metro, Downtown and Old Montreal. All within walking distance or easy cab/metro ride. Breakfast had more choices than I expected. Staff was totally AWESOME! Very professional, friendly, and ALWAYS accomodating!!!
However, the walls are paper thin and we unfortunately encountered some very, very noisy 'neighbors' at all hours of the night. They literally screamed, ran up and down halls, slammed doors and carried on 2 nights of our stay. Security could not do much after the first appearance/warning to these folks.
I would have also loved a restaurant but continental breakfast for free and all you can eat was wonderful!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by fantik No single plate in the kitchen
No single plate was found in the big kitchen. Huge refrigerator, decent dishwasher, a lot of space in the kitchen and no single utensil. Nothing! Empty! You can take some paper plates from the breakfast area however.
Overall this is a place to spend a night with no complains. Friendly staff. No noise. Clean. The room looks like an abandoned house. I would not return.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by warbuc47 Great location and very helpful staff
My wife and I stayed for 5 nights surrounding a three day concert event. It was easy to get around the city and with the central location most cab rides were under $10. The staff at the front desk were EXTREMELY helpful with directions and helping us make daily plans.

This property has underground parking that is invaluable during a Montreal winter. It is convenient to the restaurants on St. Denis and St. Laurent streets and close to China town. The rooms are spacious and clean.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GiGi40 Always friendly staff and clean rooms
the hotel may be a on the older side but it is always clean and the staff is fantastic. The most friendly and helpful group of hotel staff I have come in contact with in Montreal. I've stayed here on average of twice a year for 3 years. The mini-kitchen serves me well as I don't always dine out after work but instead grocery shop at the IGA grocery store 5-6 blocks from the hotel.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Voyageur disappointing
Other than the price, this hotel was disappointing. I chose it because it had a kitchen. Yet there is no oven or stove, no toaster, and above all... no dishes and no silverware. Not even a spoon or a mug... Yet. there is a dishwasher.. WHY? It would cost no more than $15 to go to the dollar store and get a few plates, a bowl, some coffee cups, a few forks and spoons... yet there is nothing. The toilet was broken and had to be shut off: the water flowed constantly/ I asked that it be fixed, and it was just turned back on, with the water constantly flowing (very noisily) wasting gallons and gallons of water. So I had to shut it off at each use, and take the tank cover off to adjust wasn't working.
The TV remote did not work.
I am a platinum priority member... yet there was no mention of my status, no upgrade, no thank you for being a member...
I shall stay elsewhere next time I'm in Montreal.

Paint is peeling off of walls and cabinets in washroom! Same conditions exist in room!
You don't feel clean!
Breakfast was not eatable, scrambled eggs reminded me of powdered eggs. Room was not conducive to eating in a relaxed atmosphere. Had to skip breakfast and leave to eat at a restaurant.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by macattack One problem during checkout
I have stayed at Holiday Inn's for quite some time now, but I have never experienced the rudeness of the front desk person we dealt with at checkout time, We wanted to pay in cash when we checked out and we were informed that the conversion rate would be 90% of US funds to convert to Canadien funds. Our bill came to around $640 in Canadien money so we were informed that we needed around $730 in US cash.
Since the exchange rate was about .9978 at most banks, I told the front desk person that I would run to a bank and exchange our US cash there and be right back. He seemed a little upset about this and said, "Fine, do what you feel you should do". Whne I went to the first bank, I found that they were closed, due to it being Saturday at around 9:00 am, I walked for a mile up to St. Catherine St, in Montreal and found an exchange place. I ended up paying $646 in US to get $640 in Canadien funds, so the fromt desk person at the Holiday Inn was going to receive $100!

Hard, flat beds with no comforter just sheets and a thin blanket, old ugly not comfortable couch, whole hotel is in SERIOUS need of an update.
The worst was that we chose this hotel for the kitchen as it was Thanksgiving during my stay. As the kitchen has a fridge, microwave, sink and dishwasher that ALL it has. No plates, silverware, cups, bowls, coffee cups NOTHING. All the cabinets were COMPLETELY empty. We had to eat out for Thanksgiving dinner. When we asked if anything was available the staff had me go into the breakfast room and root around in the cabinets for paper bowls and plastic silverware. All very disappointing.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cambium Low quality standard....
In one single night, I change tree times of rooms. Even if it was claiming that there was Internet signal, In the first room, I couldn't link my self to the network.....there is no repeater in the hall way.... First room furniture was under a Candles Suites standard...And way far from Holiday Express standard. Sofas that has torn down, bath that had stains of unknown red matter...like blood....and paint touch up.....scratch on the wall. Second room, I removed my shoes and I did soaked my t foots on a soaked rug.....water was leaking from somewhere in the walls.... Third room, was a little bit better except that booth remote controls were not functioning and when I did sower my self I was able to looked public hair un the roof of the shower....! Sofas had also scratch and torn down....and it look like the owner bought his furniture from an auction....nothing fits or is same alike..,, Please could you remove this establishment from the Holiday Inn Express List.....owner is playing on booth liscences.....Hiliday Inn and Candle Suites.....and as a Platinum member I am expecting a better standard from this establishments.....

Barbara, front desk service, was an essential part of our enjoying Montreal. We would tell her where we wanted to go and she would direct us as to our best passage thru the City. She was invaluable to us and our Trip away. We felt comfortable and safe traversing the City. We left no stone unturned. Barbara is a wonderful Ambassador for the Holiday Inn Corporation.
Respectfully, P.Scannell and D. Parisi

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Sportster60 Nice place in Downtown, Close to all
This place rocked as far as where it was located. We found all the great places to visit a short comfortable walk from the Hotel.
We visited many destinations from here walking. There are bicycles in the area for daily rent, just be prepared to have CAD change with you to pay. Chinatown was freat, Found Grand Madne close by, and three brothers for pizza, probaly the best in the area.
Staff was very helpful in finding places to see, eat park and wineries in the area to visit( our big key point to visit here besides Grand Madne, for which we were not able to get into.
But there was MANY other fine places to eat.
Shopping there was great in the area, finding locale beverage establishments was also close to walk to.
Cabs were plentiful if needed.
Hourse carraiges are a must if you want to enjoy a slow great narrated tour with a loved one.
Parking for the hotel wwas great, not what I expected, but the shared parking with sister hotel was plentiful.
large mall area just a short drive away meant you didn't have to do all shopping in the city center.
Cons: Traffic if you wanted to get from airport to city center or anywhere else quickly.
