Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed We've been to other Holiday Inn Expresses before and this one was way below the expectations. Other than the convenient location, the balcony and free Wi-Fi Internet, it is hard to find any other Pros that would have marked our stay. The price did not match the value of stay received. We got the wrong room (with less one sleeping bed) initially and I am happy I went upstairs to check it (pure intuition) before we went for dinner (while we did not have the intention to go to our room first). We were then switched to the right type of room, of course, but having to run back and forth twice did not make it a happy experience at the beginning of our stay already. The plastic cups and cutlery at the breakfast surprised a lot. Perhaps we haven't gone to an economy hotel for a while, but this was more like a B & B motel or rather cheap discounted charter flight. At least, staying in a motel, you know what to expect and you are surprised when it is better. It was actually the opposite with our stay at Holiday Inn. The next day morning we needed to print something at the Business Centre - non of the two printers was working there. Spent some time to try and get them going. Thanks to the friendly staff at the reception, who offered to print on their printer and log-on from the reception desktop. It worked out, but don't believe this should be the right way to go, especially when we were in a rush to leave the hotel for a scheduled appointment and we were running late. November 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by don't waste your time do yourself a favour and book next door at the Days Inn. This hotel is in dire need of a renovation. Where do I start? no heat, no hot water, broken faucets, chips in the sinks and bathtub, substandard linens, the list goes on & on. When we checked out and complained, the desk clerk was extremely apologetic and offered a discount on the stay, but it still didn't make up for the fact that these rooms are sub standard, escpecially for downtown Montreal. They could improve the breakfeast variety and extend the opening hours on the week end. Fairly quiet (at least where I was). Otherwise good value for the money. November 13, 2013

Parking for hotel is tricky when you are visiting from out of town, something on the underground garage door would have been fantastic where as it is not right at the hotel. Beds were long overdue for replacement No kitchen items in kitchen (no plates, forks, etc.) Fire Alarm took way too long to cancel (30 minutes) - staff on duty gave no direction to guests when false alarm was detected early on. Gym should not be located on a smoking floor. Temperature in the gym should be less than 22 degrees. There should be water available in the gym to drink. October 23, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value Just prior to my trip, I called to confirm my room and to tell them that my husband and I would be a late check-in. The employee at the desk responded that I wanted to cancel my room. No... Thankfully, our room was not canceled and we were able to check in upon arrival. The room was made of cheap materials but was spacious, included a full kitchen, and was in good condition. The hotel building was located in a safe and conveniently located neighborhood. We could walk by foot to our destinations or ride the Metro within minutes. We enjoyed the included breakfast in the mornings, although I was a little disappointed to see sausage always rather than bacon rotated in. Upon check out, we were charged for parking for a car, although we did not have a car with us at all. The front desk refunded the parking charge to my credit card, but the time that it took to get the refund prevented my husband from eating his breakfast before our taxi showed up. If I were to visit Montreal again, I would consider staying in this hotel. The quality was not perfect but was a good value for the price. October 10, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good hotel I spent 9 days at the Holiday Inn for business. I requested a smoking room and was happily surprised. one of the best features is that the sliding doors in the room open so the room does not become too smoky. I had a one bedroom suite with a nice little kitchen. There is a mall just 2 blocks away with a supermarket which was great. It also has a nice food court. I was travelling on my own and felt very safe inside the hotel. I did not go out after 7pm so I cannot comment on the night life near by. The free breakfast is great. There are hot choices, healthy choices and it is all free, what more can you want. I would happily recommend this hotel and if I return to Montreal I will be staying here. October 7, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Squeek My wife and I have stayed here 3 weekends in 6 months. Generally this is an OK hotel for the money. This time we noticed that all the doors Squeeked really badly (could even hear doors 3 rooms away)....there was hot water in the kitchen sink, and the bath sink, but none in the shower. Called the front desk on both issues and tried to speak to housekeeping (but I don't speak a word of french, so my fault), and nothing happened at all. Will continue to stay at this hotel, because of location, but will be much more forceful in having issues addressed. I travel a fair bit and a IHG Platium memeber, and this is not tipicial of a Holiday staff or property. October 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by “Very Poor Experience - Dirty Room, Broken Internet, Rude Staff” Came to Montreal for the night with my wife after a 5hr drive: 1. Arrived at 3.25pm (checkin starts at 3), told my room was not yet ready. Had to speak to a manager in order get a room. 2. Had to kill 3 spiders in the room 3. The phone in the bedroom did not work 4. The Wifi stopped working overnight, and in the morning despite 3 calls to reception, and being told it was working, it still did not work. 5. Don't get tricked by the free breakfast - not impressed at all I would like to know why the receptionist asked me 'How was my stay?', as after I complained he said 'ok' and gave me my receipt. Location is fine if you enjoy walking. I would look elsewhere for my next trip to Montreal Room Tip: Not Room 319 - spiders! October 2, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Yucky building and room! Nothing like first impressions and right out of the gate it's obvious there is very little TLC being put into this place. The floors, walls, hallways and rooms are dated, run down and grubby looking. I didn't take my shoes off in the room and didn't shower so I didn't have to touch anything. There's only air in the bedroom and the kitchen's so dated and nasty looking it's doubtful anyone ever uses it. The staff were lovely and the breakfast not bad, but the dining area is so small we had to wait in line for a table. The parking garage is also a nightmare! September 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Everything was Amazing!! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The hotel was is an ideal location. So close to everything and the 747 bus stops just outside! The beds were so comfy! The breakfast was better than we anticipated! Great way to start the day! There was a problem with our water heater. Staff came quickly to fix it. The maintenance staff was great. When the problem was larger than anticipated, we were quickly changed to another room and Upgraded to our delight!! All interactions with the staff was a pleasure. We got the sense they worked well together. We have both worked in hotels for years and appreciated receiving Great Service. We had such a wonderful experience. We know were to stay on our next GetAway to Montreal! September 20, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Fear for my Safety / Terrible Service We were given room keys to a suite that was already occupied by another guest! When we walked into their room all of their belongings were in full view (suitcase, travel documents, laptop, and chargers). It was a very uncomfortable and scary situation as the same incident could have happened to us! When we advised the front desk the representative made no effort to apologize or seem bothered by what had just happened. She simply took back the keys and said that someone had 'forgotten' to check the guest on the system after the keys were given to them. There is a clear lack of Management at this location and Hotel staff are not serious about their responsibilities at all. I will never be visiting this location again! September 5, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Yuk Smelly carpets in the room, clogged bath tub, paid for parking but lot was full and had to circle around several times before parking car in the loading zone spot. Reception just shrugged it off when I mentioned that I had a problem finding a spot. Upon checkout, HIE waived parking fee for one out of the two nights, but I'd never return to this hotel. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for F1 I know this is a bit late, but we stayed here for the Formula 1 race, and it's in an ideal location for access to the circuit. Rooms were pretty good. The hotel is easily accessible from the airport if you take the airport bus, as the bus stop is just outside the hotel. During our arrival and departure, the staff were helpful and friendly, making the process easy and straightforward. During our stay, the housekeeping staff engaged in industrial action, and although this meant our room was not cleaned on that particular day, we did get an apologetic note from the hotel management, which was good. One comment I will make is that breakfast was at times chaotic and messy, but that may have been due to the number of guests with the F1 in town. September 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So happy with our stay I threw a small-moderate size bachelorette party for my sister who is getting married in the fall. There was enough room for us to play a few games in the living room and for her to open up presents etc. I booked a two bedroom suite and the rooms were spacious and there was also a great size kitchen where I was able to set out appetizers. By 11:30pm we cleared out and headed to a club. With only a few of us returning back to the hotel for our nights stay we couldn't ask for comfier beds. Front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival other than the couch and carpets being a little dingy and a couple cigarette burn marks in the carpet its was quite clean for a downtown Montreal location which probably sees a lot of traffic. We before check out we cleaned up everything, wiped down the counters and even asked for garbage bags to throw out some plates and cups etc. Overall, I would stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.
