The corridors stink of an overpoweringly strong air freshener that must be trying to cover a terrible smell. The hotel is in need of a refit. The carpets are dirty. The bed is very uncomfortable. The pillows feel like cardboard. There are no plugs next to the bed. The TV came on at 5am for no apparent reason (I certainly did not turn it on or set it to turn on). The shower temperature was inconsistent. The ironing board was so dirty I almost declined to iron on it, and I had to go and collect it myself from reception. Nobody answered the phone at reception when I called. The checkout was very slow and there was a large queue for one person for 10 minutes, before another person appeared from nowhere to help.

On arrival the young lady at reception was involved with another couple and it appeared there were challenges, creating an extended wait for me, as no one else came to assist her. When she was free to check me in, she was friendly and efficient.
The room was very disappointing, it was cooler than it should be at this time of year and when I moved the wall thermostat it came away from the base section. The heating never made the room hot, despite me turning the thermostat to "high". On "auto" it would have been too noisey to sleep.
The carpet was extensively liquid stained in more than one place, making the room feel uncleen.
In the toilet the wash basin was cracked.
Overall the room was shabby.
I would hope this is not the norm in this hotel, but did wonder if this is what you get as a frequent user of Holiday Inn Expresses, what does the infrequent guest get ?
Due to working and eating dinner late, I did not sample breakfast.
Checkout was friendly and efficient.
Overall the opposite from a good experience in Crawley HIE the night before

Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk. My only observation was that the guest room was in need of decorating.
Comfy bed and clean bathroom

Hotel was OK but the wifi was not good - the router needed to be reset a couple of times and the speed was slow. There was a liquid splatter on the wall near the window. If you're staying here, be sure to work out how you're going to get to the nearby NCP car park before you arrive since I missed the turn and had to go a long way around a one way system before I could get back to the hotel.

Everything was great as always except that the internet was very slow and poor connectivity. if its offered whether free or not then the internet must live up to expectations. as a business traveller the internet, connectivity and speed have a massive bearing on the hotel that I choose. for this reason alone (as everything else was great) I would look at another IHG hotel to stay at in Nottingham.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by spencer55 OK room but TERRIBLE bed
I stayed in room 208 and the room was fine but the bed was awful. I am not a fussy sleeper at all but this mattress should have been replaced long ago and after trying for a couple of hours to get comfortable I ended up sleeping on the floor!
I have reported this to reception (who were excellent) and they have assured me that they will look into this asap...
