No hot water to shower with in the morning and the staff could not care less. Gave us a $20 credit which I would have forgone for hot water.

I tried their internet and my wireless card and both were extremely slow in this location. Staff or the friend of staff at night spent at least 1.5 hours on the lobby computer and different staff were on in the morning preventing guests from using it.
They ran out of breakfast items and guests had to wait for them. The juice bar appeared broken as there were bottles of juice sitting around to pour from.
Don't expect a professional appearance. Jeans, sweatshirts and t shirts were worn by staff in all positions and they abandon the front desk to clean rooms.

When we arrived to check in (about 6pm) there was a sign at the front desk stating they were on break. It did not say when they would return so we assumed it would be a short break. We waited a half hour for someone to show up and check us in. If they had put a return time at the front desk we could have gone to dinner and come back later to check in. Two men left the motel right before the front desk receptionist came back. Later that evening, when we came back from dinner, she was visiting with the same two men in the breakfast area. This has happened on more than one visit to this motel
We found several bottles of beer in the refrigerator of our room, which indicates they do not take the time the clean the entire room.
The pancake maker was not working and we were told this happens a lot. Why not replace it? There were no cinnamon rolls that are advertised by Holiday Inn. I had a bagel which was not cut (not even partially) and there was no bagel cutter. I had to use a plastic knife to cut it.
We stay at this motel several times a year when we drive from NM to Denver. This past year I have seen a decline in service.
I plan to stay at another motel our next trip through Salida.

Our room door looked like someone had broken in - there was a large gap between door and frame where you could see into the room. The 'hot tub ' was lukewarm. We could not get a comfortable room temp. Found a spider in the bathroom and unclean towels. Breakfast cinnamon rolls appeared to be day old.

The hotel is an older facility. The room was clean. The bath room was very small. I think it is over priced as compared to other Holiday Inns I have stayedThe in room coffee pot was not near a 120 volt outlet. I moved it to a lamp table in order to plug into a electrical outlet

This needs to be closed and torn down. It was obviously a convert from another brand of hotel and not up to the HI Express standard. Check in was the first sign I should have gone somewhere else. Could not be found by my name and the check in personnel were using paper lists and not the computer to check. She gave me someone else's room - because I matched that person's profile for being a tax exempt stay - saying perhaps they recorded the name wrong -- the reservation was made on the internet and my admin assistant knows how to correctly spell my name. Creaky old elevator - prayed it would not break down and leave me trapped. Room doors in the hallways constantly slammed. Poor security lighting in the parking lot. Room smelled of smoke even in a "non smoking" room. HVAC system was really old and cranky to start. Bath sink is in the room. Tiny sized tub and toilet room. Regular bulb in shower was out - only the heat lamp worked - making it an extremely hot experience to be in the room longer than a few minutes. Nightstand lamp had one broken socket. Minimal accessible AC outlets in room - bring a power strip! Friends of the workers hanging out in the lobby and using the "business center" consisting of 1 computer in the lobby while the staff was blasting music from the office. Breakfast area too small. Just overall disappointing and probably the worst HIE I have ever stayed in on my business travels.

Made our reservation in advance due to late arrival. Greeted by a friendly staff member who attended our needs quickly and efficiently. Property was clean and tidy. Breakfast was up to HIE expectations. Would stay here again.
