Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by room not serviced First day of check in great, got same room had had before been there a few times, checked out to go to different area in Va., came back got a different room. To begin with no liners for ice bucket. Second day not serviced at all trash still in floor in tied up plastic bag that I did. Had to go to front desk when returning at night to get shampoo, conditioner, Kleenex, toilet tissue, trash liners, ice liners, towels and bath mat also no coffee or cups didn't get those. I made the bed up. Next day left came back in afternoon still nothing done. The bed sheets were changed in 3 days I was in the room. I had to take the 2 day towels to the housekeeper and ask what to do with them, the comment I got was or I thought they were clean, rolled up all together on the back of commode means clean. The floor was never vacuumed the 3 days I was in room, how I know I dropped a piece of tissue in 2 different places and one was still there and the other was picked up and left on the nightstand, so that wasn't cleaned. Seems like corners were been cut. I only got I'm sorry. There should be some recourse for that, that's uncalled for. When I was working in the hotel business you got your room at no charge and made sure it was better the next time in your room. I think I deserve a credit. The breakfast is great, the workers were very friendly and helpful and the area was kept clean. Good Job. I have family there so I may think about the one next door, we'll see. December 31, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst stay ever, should have taken my tent! First room was at the opposite end of the building on the top floor. After dragging my suitcase all the way there the room hadn't been made up from the prior occupant. Bath room dirty, bed unmade, trash on the floor, room at 50 degrees and the TV blaring. How could housekeeping miss this? Trucked my suitcase back to the front desk. They seemed astounded that the room wasn't ready. Second room was adjacent to the middle stairwell. So other hotel guests stomped up and down the stairs and kept me awake until midnight and then woke me up permanently at 5:00am. FIrst night, not restful at all and certainly not pleased. Second night tried to get to bed early (knew I would be awakened periodically) however the hotel was being painted so the compressor noise across the hallway kept me awake. I told the desk clerk about the painters and the noise but she just shrugged her shoulders and ignored me. Bottom line, if you have a choice between this hotel and a tent (regardless of weather) choose the tent! December 17, 2013

The best so far was this Mexican place not even a 1/2 mile away. I will continue choosing this hotel when I am traveling in this area. December 8, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Business travel I've come to enjoy HI Express properties. This continued to deliver on my expectations and overall experience. Nice bed and bedding with a renovated bathroom. Breakfast was solid and staff helped me get to my appointment on time Which was great add I'm not as familiar with the area. Overall a very good experience. OK the paint job in the bathroom is a little edgy...good excuse to get your business done quicker....Other than that, everything else is wonderful. Expect, professional desk, house keeping and breakfast personnel , great hot/cold breakfast selection, very quiet, safe and secure. I stay here 7-10 nights a year and will continue to do so... Staff are always there for you , breakfast is excellent start for your day with plenty of healthy items , I hope that they had an indoor pool , water pressure in the tub is better that mine home . I would recommend this hotel to everyone going to Boston November 6, 2013

The staff was very professional and courteous. Check in and check out was very fast and efficient. Room was very nice and comfortable and cozy. I had a good night sleep. I was greeted very warmly by the front desk staff. My check in was a breeze. The room was very cozy and comfortable and quiet. The bed was well made and very comfortable. I slept thru the night without any problems. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of healthy choices. Manager Dianna was very cordial and pleasant. I could feel the southern hospitality. Although South Boston being a small town, there were plenty of restaurants nearby to get a decent meal. I was very pleased with the service and the value this hotel offered. I will certainly stay at this hotel once again and recommend to others. November 1, 2013

My only concern was that the room doors were difficult to shut tight and locking mechanisms seemed loose. Unfortunately, this property required interior renovation....lets say maybe 15 yrs ago. It is dark and has an unclean appearance.and the paint must have been applied by drunken sailor...my apologies to the Navy. There was no apparent effort ot clean up the paint/tile work that was done in the bathroom many years ago. Not a good experience October 17, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best hotel stay I've stayed in many a Holiday Inn hotel over the years and this is not one of the better ones. The rooms drastically need updating and the tub surface was peeling to the point that I had to put a towel in the tub to take a shower. We kept smelling smoke during our stay (non smoking room) and when we left I noticed a used cigar lying next to the microwave. Would not recommend this hotel. September 22, 2013

I did feel sorry for the staff as it was stifling hot in the lobby with no AC. I went to my room ,relaxed, opened my suitcase, took a swim and went out to find a restaurant and do a little shopping. When I returned with three bags I could not get into my room even though I tried numerous times with both cards. I put down purchases and walked to front desk where I informed the attendant I could not get into room 135. The lady looked up and me and said I checked someone else in that room and they said there was someone else's clothes in it. Yes, I said, my clothes. Who are you the lady said. So I told her and she said well you are not in the computer. I said this is impossible I made reservations directly to this facility and was checked into the room with no problem. The 'lady' kept tapping on the computer and finally said here are new keys. This 'lady' acted like it was my fault that she or someone else goofed. Frankly I will think twice before I return. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Will not stay there again I am traveling around for work and stayed in many Holiday Inn Express this by far was the worst experience. I have to say the ladies at the front desk were friendly and helpful but I did feel bad for them because the a/c was broke. Luckily the rooms a/c was fine and did work. The rooms where clean for the most part except for the dirty suck on the floor that was not mine. The bathroom door would not shut and if you got it shut you would have to pry the door open to get out of the bathroom. I also found it weird that maybe the owner of the hotel walked around the whole day in like some creepy non trusting way. I came down to the front desk and there was no help for about 10 mins. finely I saw the owner of the hotel (at least i think he was) so i asked him if I could get some help to get towels that the cleaning lady did not leave and he hardly spoke english and said I can wait until the lady came back. Real nice MR. owner good way to run your hotel. Also that night my wife came to visit with the kids which was a great surprise! Another great surprise was the towel rack falling off the bathroom wall when I went to get a towel. The next day I left for work and about 2 pm wife called and said that when she and the kids went the pool they were followed by the hotel owner and as they were in the pool for 2 hours he passed by several times. They finally went back inside to there room and as another surprise the owner was right near them again as the go into the room. I guess he did not see them the night before and thought they were swimming for free. Finally the last night I stayed I came back to the hotel after dinning and it took me a few mins. to get into the door because I guess at this hotel it is okay for construction men to stand around and drink and block the door. I have nothing against drinking but hey at least go in your room or the lobby!! But then again I can not blame them it was cooler outside then inside the hotel. I told the front desk lady all the problems and they did not seem to care one bit.... If i am ever in the area again I will pass through and go somewhere else!!! August 24, 2013

This time I booked a suite room which had alot more space and a sofa bed. It was perfect for me so I could use my laptop while on a sofa rather then the bed or desk. Clean as always and very comfortable. I had a small issue with the toilet handle not working but I called the desk and they took care of it... Will be visiting many times in the future! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not what a Holiday Inn Express should be I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions over the last nine years, and I cannot believe how much it has gone downhill. The staff were terrific, however, the rooms are not up to par. When I walked into the first room the first thing I noticed was a mildewy smell. Then on one wall there was discoloration and bulging as if there were water damage. The bathroom was no better. It looks as if they attempted to update it, but they only did it halfway and the paint job looked like a five year old did it. I did call the front desk and said the room was not acceptable and they did move us to another room that was better, but not by much. I am not sure if they switched the ac's out for evaporative coolers, but the rooms felt wet. We were supposed to be there for three nights, but I checked us out after the first. I am sorry to say we will not stay at this HI Express again. In my opinion, corporate should take a look at this one. August 3, 2013
