Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Training & courteousness of staff On the first night here, we were startled awake by the fire alarm just after 5 a.m.. I was on the 5th floor and the entire hotel was awakened & had to evacuate. The alarm continued going off for quite some time. After evacuating, I noticed people in the lobby so I went in to inquire if there was truly a fire. The sweet front desk attendant said that it was a smoke alarm in the kitchen that had set it off & she wasn't able to turn the alarm off - or didn't know how. The fire dept. had to come to turn it off - what a wasteful stress of all of the guests, stress for her, & huge waste of tax payer dollars for the fire dept. to have to come for a false alarm. I would have expected some sort of apology or free drink tokens, 10% off our bill or something - but nothing was offered. While I was in the breakfast area, the attendant was clearly not in a good mood & was very irritable. I cut her some slack for having a rough start to her day, too. However, on Sat. a.m., I overslept & stopped by the breakfast area to see if there was still any food available at 10:05 a.m. The same kitchen attendant was there (that had caused the fire 2 days before# & was cleaning up the pancake area. As I took a bagel #from an adjacent area not being cleaned yet), she rudely snapped at me that breakfast was over. So, my complaint is that the management has not trained the front desk staff to be prepared for fire/false alarms and they have certainly not trained the kitchen attendant to be friendly or serve customers with basic courtesy, not to mention how to prevent fires.
