My grandson (8) travels with me all over the Northeast section of the USA, especially during the summers. Hotels we select have to meet five basic requirements: 1) they have to be aesthetically pleasing, 2) the staff has to be knowledgeable , friendly, helpful and courteous., 3)they must provide comfortable beds and the rooms must be nicely appointed, 4) they must have a pool and 5)) they must be reasonably near down town areas. As a matter of fact , my aim now is to book early and always get into a room at a Holiday Inn Express. We happened to book two rooms in VA Beach last Summer and decided after one night that we would always go Holiday Inn Express. ....because, as far as we are concerned " you've got it all over the rest of them".,

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Poorly trained night clerk
Upon arrival on a Thursday the night clerk asked if we had a car. Yes, I said, but he did not ask for any license info during our registration. The next night, a Friday, we returned around 10:15pm only to find both entrances to the parking lot blocked by cones. We circled around the area looking for a place to park. Finding none, we went to the convenience store below the hotel and walked up the hill to the hotel to ask where we were supposed to park. That night clerk told us all we had to do was go to the guard at one entrance and they would let us in. (it was so dark we had not seen anything but the orange cones) We had not been told that upon registering nor were we aware that we were at risk that first night for being towed away since the hotel had no record of our car. WE WERE FURIOUS. We have never been displeased with any Holiday Inn we have ever stayed at previously.

Very accommodating and helpful staff. They helped correct our reservations and they fixed the pancake machine for my son. The shuttle was nice.

Our stay was excellent. The rooms where clean, front desk was very helpful, shuttle service was good. And Thomas and his crew was excellent at breakfast. Fresh fruit, sausage, and pastries was very good. Thanks Joe & Family,

Spent 5 nights here and can't fault the experience. From initial check-in to the quality and cleanliness of our room to the choice and freshness of our breakfast, everything was superb. The shuttle service was right on time every time, the drivers were always very pleasant and helpful.
In fact we had a great experience with every hotel employee we encountered.
This was my first Holiday Inn Express experience and you guys at Northeast DC have set the bar pretty high.

We experienced absolutely the best service ever during our stay at Holiday Inn Express Northeast Washington DC. The manager, Carl was the most friendly, helpful and service minded manager that we have ever experienced in IHG hotels or any brand. Carl shouldn't just be a hotel manager, he should be TRAINING managers. He seemed to be everywhere making sure that all the customers were getting what they needed. My wife is disabled, uses a scooter and needed extra help, especially getting to Union Station. Carl personally took responsibility to make sure that we were taken care of. We will only stay at this hotel when we go back to Washington to visit a grandson who is in the Coast Guard Honor Guard in Washington. If every manager showed the concern that Carl showed us, Holiday Inn Express would be preferred over any other hotel.
Again, we appreciate manager Carl's concern for our well being more than words can describe. Please make sure that this compliment moves up your corporate chain so those in charge may find ways to leverage Carl's passion for customer service.
