Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CP4ME GREAT PRE-CRUISE/POST-CRUISE HOTEL
We stayed at this hotel for two days prior to our cruise and wished we would have booked an extra couple of days. This was the best Holiday Inn Brand stay I have had. We normally find Crowne Plaza to be our preference, and if not available, Holiday Inn Express to be plan B. However, this HI was a great experience and we wanted to tell about it.
First, about the hotel, we received a complimentary upgrade from our standard room booking to an Ocean view with a balcony due to our reward club status and we were very thankful for that. Although our room overlooked a construction site, the hours worked by the crew below did not cause us to be bothered. The room was large for what you would expect in a metropolitan hotel in the US and that made for nice comfort when traveling with lots of cruise luggage. The maintenance and cleanliness of the room were not issues. Noise, sleep quality, and temperature control were also not issues. We found all staff of the hotel to be exceptionally helpful, especially Rod of the Bell Staff. Thank you again, Rod for all your help. We liked the location of the Hotel in Waikiki because there are so many places of interest within walking distance. Additionally, the hotel is close to a Hilo Hattie’s Shuttle Stop which provides free transportation, but more about that later. One night we ate at Jimmy Buffet’s at the Hotel and found the food and service to be very good. The prices there were very acceptable for Honolulu.
Next, we wanted to mention some other factors that would be helpful when traveling to or from a cruise at this hotel. The hotel does not have complimentary transportation to or from the airport and indicated to us that a taxi was about $50-60, while Roberts Hawaii was $18 per person one way. We opted for that and found it to be perfect. We were met in baggage claim at the airport by Roberts staff, were taken to our shuttle, and made only two stops before reaching our hotel. The Roberts people were great and we would suggest them for going to or from the airport. For transportation to the cruise port, which with Celebrity’s Solstice is at Pier 2, we chose a taxi. Rod, with the bell staff arranged a minivan taxi for us at a set time and we found it waiting for us immediately upon checkout. The taxi ride was $30 with tip. We could have used Roberts for this, but their pickup at the hotel was later than our preference.
Earlier, I mentioned the Hilo Hattie’s Shuttle stop. If you want to travel around Honolulu, do not want to rent a car, and do not want to use public transportation, this is a good alternative. By visiting their store, you can then ride their shuttle free. It travels all along Waikiki and makes stops at several places of interest. The hotel staff will gladly show you where to catch the shuttle.
If you are planning on traveling early or staying late, you would be very happy you chose this hotel. It has everything you need and the staff will make your stay a very happy one.

Hotel gave us free upgrade of room since rooms were not ready at time of check in. Great view of Waikki and walking distance to beach. Great Hotel and good cost.

Had a great stay at the Beachcomber, found this hotel very central with plenty of reasonable eating places around. The room was very spacious and very clean. Would come back and stay there.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Rose2500 Great Hotel - lousy breakfast accomodations
One of the reasons that I Iike Holiday Inn is that breakfast is usually included in the price of the hotel. In this case, it was not. Instead you got 15% off your bill at Jimmy Buffets which was next door. The only item that they had for breakfast was the buffet and it was quite expensive. Considering that we normally only have oatmeal or maybe an egg biscuit, the price for the buffet was a non-starter.
We asked the hotel for some other references for breakfast and received none. So, we walked across to the shopping center where the food service was either very limited (coffee shop) or very high end. We kept walking around and finally found a place called the Cheeseburger place where we got a very good breakfast for $5.95 each.

We stayed at this hotel while visiting Waikiki on our honeymoon. It is right in the center of many exciting things in Waikiki and the staff is amazing. Our tub got stopped up and someone was there immediately. I will say if you are looking for resort style accommodations this is not the place. But that did not bother us because we were not there to stay in our rooms. However, if you are looking for the best bang for your buck this is the place. And the fact that Jimmy Buffets is right downstairs in the lobby was another added plus. Happy hour 10-6. Can't beat that!

Room 2417 is in the 24th floor and inspire of the elevation suffered from street noise. Sliding door seals are in need of replacement.
The room category was technically in the "Ocean View" category but in no way would meet a reasonable persons assessment. Staff argued that it technically was according to the system but in reality it was at best a partial ocean view. The manager did however reduce our rate to a standard rate on request after trying for three days to get reception staff to move us.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Travelwaveberlln Mitten in Honolulu

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by privat centrally located, will go there again
Waikiki Beachcomber is a very centrally located big hotel one block away from Waikiki Beach. It was nothing special but overall a good experience. Restaurant was good and prices were reasonable. Like all hotels on Hawaiian Islands it is overpriced and you pay for a lot of extras (30USD per day or parking, Business Center not for free like in other Holiday Inn hotels). Compared to other Hawaiian hotels the prices are still ok. Personally I got a room with a view to the ventilation of the next building which was a bit loud, but not really a problem. Overall it was ok and most probably I will come back in case I will be in Honolulu again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mickjad Our stay at Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber
If you like being part of the hub this hotel was great....it was 2 blocks from the beach(we had partial view of the water). It is right in the middle of all the shopping...great for window shopping... very busy so if you like a quiet spot this hotel is not for you....
They do not offer breakfast but you get 15% off at "Jimmy Buffet's" restaurant attached to the hotel....food was good and the place was hopping.... the 15% discount is only good for breakfast and lunch and not for dinner....
I don't know if we will ever return to Hawaii but if we do we may stay there again....

Staff was excellent, very efficient and helpful. From valet to front desk it could have been better. The breakfast buffet has a little to be desired but OK. The noise from the deck is a bit load if you have a room on the front side. Location to shopping and beaches is good, just a short walk and you are on the beach, shopping right out the front door. I have stayed here before and will stay here again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bootsey R. Excellent location and friendly staff
My second stay at the hotel and I just enjoyed it even more. Its centrally located, near the beach, near an apple store, near Victoria Secret, H&M and Forever 21. Got comfortable rooms and pillows. Just great to relax tired feet after a day of walking, and hiking.
This hotel also has a self laundry that is most helpful.
Staff from the Concierge to the Front Desk, the Tour Desk and even the cleaning people are friendly and so accommodating.
Internet is ok and room with a ref is a MUST. Coffee is also excellent, except for the creamer and the substitute sugar, looks like its been stocked for ages.
Otherwise perfect place to enjoy Waikiki.

This hotel was tucked in amidst all the hustle and bustle of the area , yet was very comfortable. There are plenty of shopping and places to eat nearby, and the beach access is across the street as well.
Overall, it was a nice place to stay, and the breakfast was very good....especially the coffee !!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lillytree Friendly service and comfortable room
The hotel is conveniently located in Waikiki. Check-in was quick and easy; the people at the Front Desk were friendly and courteous. I was upgraded to a room with a partial ocean view, but the accomodations were the same as my reserved room. The room was clean and comfortable, but looked slightly dated. There was occasional noise from the street during the evenings, but nothing that was prolonged or excessive. If you want complete quiet, don't stay downtown. The only negative was the hot water. The water at the sink never got past luke-warm. This could have been due to being on the 15th floor. If so, it is not a valid excuse. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

You can't beat the price for the location. Cross the street to the beach, duke's for breakfast, shopping right outside your door and bus lines nearby. A local marketplace is just across the parking lot. They have a pool and hot tub. There's also a gym on the 2nd floor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TravelproB That's why I continue to stay here.
If you travel a lot on business, you want to stay at a place where you are remembered and everyone 'welcomes you'. I feel this at this property. Yes it was noisy prior to tearing down of the international market place, but it is simply 'delightful' now!
The team that services the rooms are very friendly and always greet me with a smile.
The valet team is quick and the guys always assist with my bags #yes I do tip!#
Too bad about 'standardization' with the brand. I really liked the 2 bottled waters when I checked in.

I stay here a lot. Some may think that’s nice but as a business traveler not so much.
That is why I like this hotel. The staff is great and always there for you for whatever you need. Even the room attendants go out of their way to make you feel as comfortable as possible and at home.
The location could not be better. Across from the beach and surrounded by restaurants and places to buy snack and necessities if you forgot something.
If you’re going to stay in Waikiki you’re not going to get away from the hustle and bustle of noise but its work it to me. At this hotel I think there is a view of the beach from every room although I have not stayed in every room

Just enjoyed a 5 day break here. The hotel is in a great location no need for a rental car. Very close to beach and shops.
The staff are helpful and friendly. Also on site tour booking office with helpful staff.
The only problem is that there is construction work nearby and the noise from this during the day can be a problem
Would definitely stay there again

My husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Beachcomber for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite nice and on a high floor with a view of the ocean. There was a good bit of noise due to construction next door but it was not unbearable. The hotel is in a good location to walk to shops and restaurants. I highly recommend the Beachcomber.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bernard P A good choice in Waikiki.
This hotel is an excellent choice for individuals [business] and families alike. It is centrally situated along the main road at Waikiki Beach and literally 2 - 3 minutes walk to the sand.
The room was large and comfortable with a good sizes balcony.
The air con was very controllable & efficient but was not noisy as so many can be.
On the first level, there is a nice pool which was never crowded, two bars with nice long "Happy Hours" and a good restaurant that was reasoably priced.
James, in the Tours Desk was extremely helpful & knowledgable.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by hawhaha Staff was great but room was too old
Stayed here for 2 days. The staffs were one of the most friendly and genuine people. However, I must say the building and facilities were very very old. It is so out-dated and must be renovated asap. Bottom of restroom door was rotten and carpet was too dirty. I got free chocolate and warm greeting card from staff as a welcome gift. The staffs were very friendly and treated me very well. Staff cannot do anything better and it is IHG corporate's duty to renovate the hotel. Until then, I would not stay here again just because rooms are too old.

My wife and I were on our first visit to Hawaii and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful and although we only had a partial view of the ocean, we preferred to spend time on the beach rather than looking at it from our balcony.
The room was comfortable, well equipped, and clean.
We enjoyed being located right on the main street with all the shops and restaurants. There is so much to see and do!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Intl787DiG Great Location but Poor Value
For the amount we paid an night I would be extremely disappointed at this Holiday Inn Resort because the rooms were dated. There were AC issues and noise from creaky floors and elevators even though we had the Ocean View Balconies we could hear the Elevators across the Hall.
I could not sleep at all so it was not worth booking here.
I would not recommend this property at the cost they charge in either peak or off season!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Gatafish Worst Holiday Inn Ever
I travel on Business, and this is by far the worst Holiday Inn that I have stayed in. If I had been paying for this out of my own pocket I would have been asking for a refund and looking for another place to stay.
- The shower curtain was hanging by its threads.
- The doors are splitting on the bottom.
- The A/C struggled to cool the room.
- The TV had very few channels to offer in English, which was a big disappointment since I work out of the room while traveling.
- The electrical outlets are worn out and will hardly hold the plugs into it. They are also placed in hard to access areas. (behind the Bed)
Parts of the room needed to be updated and/or replaced. Hard to believe no upkeep is being done with the amount charged per day for a room.
If I ever go back to Hawaii, I will not stay at this location for sure.
