Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Hotel Experience I have been traveling to China, Singapore, South Africa, India, Philippines, several places in Europe and North America for the past 25 years and, this stay was my best hotel experience so far. Here is a little story for those of you who wish to read through. Several months ago I booked a cruise to celebrate a 20th anniversary with my wife and, to avoid last minute issues with weather and flights I decided to extend our stay in Hawaii three days prior the cruise and one day at the end of it. At the time of the booking I did not have enough IHG Rewards Points to book 4 nights so I made a reservation to the Holiday Inn Waikiki Beachcomber only for last night of our trip and I booked the first three nights through a major Travel website together with my flight. When we arrived in Waikiki we did not like the hotel I booked for the three nights. The second day, we accidentally walked in front of the Waikiki Beachcomber and I decided to check with one of the receptionists at the lobby if I had enough points to switch hotel for the remaining two nights. At that time I did not have my phone with me and could not remember my IHG Rewards number. The lady at the reception said she couldn't look up my account and helped me connect to an IHG operator via the courtesy telephone right there in the lobby. Speaking with the operator I was happy to find out that, at that time, I did earn enough points to book two full nights and a room was available. I made the reservation on the phone, then, I walked across the lobby to check in. During the check in process, either my wife or I must have mentioned about our 20th anniversary and then forgot about it. The following day we were pleasantly surprised when we found a box of chocolates and an anniversary card waiting for us in our room. Coming back from the cruise we stayed the last day at the same Holiday Inn. The checkout time was at noon and our flight wasn't leaving until 10:50PM. We left the hotel at 11:30AM attempting to get an earlier flight but that did not go well. Also, we couldn't check in until 4 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Can you imagine waiting over 10 hours at the Honolulu airport? Tension was rising and a possible "divorce" was on the horizon ;) so I called the Holiday Inn back asking if they could hold our luggage while we were going to lunch and they said that it was not a problem. We went back to the hotel, left our bags and went to lunch. Few hours later we returned to the lobby and asked if the offer for a courtesy room was still available. We did get a courtesy room for an hour to shower and freshen up for the trip. That shower was a blessing! There are more to remember but I can think of only a couple of names right now: Ashley and Reiko who helped us at the front desk. I'm assuming that the courtesy room for a shower is a management initiative and I would like to say Thank You Very Much! June 25, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good place to stay in Honolulu Having to go up and down the escalator to go between the street entrance and the lobby was sometimes inconvenient. However, the hotel is in good condition, in a great location and is a good value. June 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location!!! It is a typical Holiday inn! On the positive side: the location and the friendly attitude and service off the staff. On the negative side: The restaurant - quality and choice. June 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service The staff was very nice and welcomed us greatly. The room that I had received had a nice view of the downtown area. Staying in the room that we did was pretty quiet. The curtains in the room made it very dark so no matter what time you slept, you can sleep in peace. June 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great value and location enjoyed our visit. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. James at the concierge desk was very helpful. Location was great just a walk across the street to the beach. June 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid rooms next to elevators Avoid staying in a room close to the elevators. The elevators are busy and loud and you will not get any sleep. June 20, 2015

Answer:
Depends on what you consider beach access from the hotel. If it is where you walk out the door and you are on the beach, then no! But in this hotel you walk out the front door, cross the street, turn left for 50ft, turn right at the surfboards and walk another 2/300 ft and you will be standing on the Waikiki Beach!

No, at least for our room. But it looks like every room has a balcony so I wonder if there are any adjoining rooms.

Answer:
I do not think ALL rooms have a view but we were on the 12th floor Southside, and we did have a good view. There is construction going on until 2016 on the Southside of the building, starts at 7am, ends at 5 to 7pm

Answer:
No there is no breakfast from the hotel, we had to go somewhere everyday for breakfast. try "Eggs and Things", and we did do IHOP a couple times, but it is expensive the closer you are to the strip. We actually hit McDonalds for Yogurts and fruits, then did a bigger lunch away from the strip, or did a cool place for lunch.
