Make yourself at home in our Holiday Inn Express® hotels in Montgomery, Alabama, where the struggle for civil rights was played out on a national stage. In no time you'll be strolling past historic Civil War landmarks or following the Civil Rights Trail.

Alabama's capital city is filled with sites signifying historic benchmarks in Southern history. From our Montgomery hotels, it's easy to hop on a Lightning Route trolley bus and tour the city's Civil War landmarks. The Confederacy was born in the impressive Alabama State Capitol building; look for the six-sided star marking the spot where Jefferson Davis took the oath of office in 1861 as President of the Confederacy. Admission is free. Across the street in a handsome 1835 Italianate mansion is the first White House of the Confederacy. One hundred years after the Civil War, another struggle was played out on the streets of Montgomery. On the Civil Rights Trail, you can see the pulpit where Dr. Martin Luther King began his ministry and visit the Civil Rights Memorial, designed by architect Maya Lin. Listen as Rosa Parks discusses her refusal to move to the back of the bus at the Rosa Parks Museum.

Our hotels in Montgomery put you conveniently close to unpretentious and affordable restaurants serving genuine Southern cuisine. Try the chicken and dumplings or coconut cream pie at Martin's, family-owned and -operated since the 1930s. Or head downtown to the homestyle meals at the Farmers Market Cafe, or picnic along the waterfront at Riverwalk. It's a short drive from our Montgomery hotels to Old Cloverdale for dining and shopping.

Good spot to take a break
By LyndaS
My family and I stayed here to be somewhat close to downtown Montgomery for a state competition. The hotel was quite and clean. The selection at breakfast was better than a lot of hotels and the [More] eggs were really pretty good. I love that there is a personal Keurig machine in the room. I used points to book my stay and it was much cheaper than staying at a hotel downtown. The elevator seemed to shake a little bit when in motion. In the end, my child won 2nd place. (Could it be because he stayed at a Holiday Inn Express?!) [Less]

Exceptional Customer Care
By 9Mom
Front desk staff exceptional, especially Ms. Jackie. Very polite and gracious. Our first time to the area. They were always checking to see if we needed anything. Hotel very clean. I made our [More] reservation directly with the hotel. Since we were staying 1 week, they suggested the 2 bed suite for more room. The room was big but it only had 1 recliner and a desk chair. There were 2 of us so I had to use the desk chair all week. The room had plenty of space for a small sofa or 2nd recliner. Bathroom could use an update but clean and great thick towels. Free coffee/tea in lobby but no breakfast. Wish they offered a little something with free coffee. Cracker Barrel next to hotel. Hotel just off exit to major highway. Hotel very sound proof. Just down the road- stores, gas stations, restaurants, etc. We were here to attend the Montgomery Biscuits games all week. Location of hotel very convenient to downtown and area attractions. [Less]

By bbbblll
You know that wonderful, warm-fuzzy feeling that comes over you when someone goes out of his or her way to spoil you, feed you, treat you, welcome you, bless you, support you or help you out? Of [More] course you do. The feeling is gratitude, and it feels even better when you express it! [Less]
Expensive Cupboard
By sallb
The Cupboard was way over-priced . I expected more items. [Less]
