Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Experience and Value Hotel is centrally located in La Jolla, you are just a few walking blocks to the beach, but you would have to drive to Downtown La Jolla. Room was clean and well put together, it felt up to date and well cared for. Staff was friendly and pool was nice alternative to the beach. Valet parking was complimentary, but can be incovenient if you come and go a few times during the day, or if you forget something in your car, but overall didn't wait more than a couple minutes for the car. Would definitely stay here again, very good value. March 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice small hotel near great beach We had a hard time finding it - no signage as it is under construction. We were not bothered by noise from construction though. Pool was small but very nice with a spa and nice lawn chairs. It was never crowded and we were there on the weekend! Hard to find parking but they would valet park for you. Super close to a wonderful beach (within walking distance) and a few really fun restaurants. Very nice room though a bit small. Comfortable bed and very nice bathroom with walk in shower. We would definitely stay here again as we loved the area!! March 26, 2015

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wi fi is purposelly done in the worst possible way... and is not functiona This place had pleasant staff. The beds we had were comfortable, and the rooms were properly cleaned daily. I would have not stayed there if I had known the wi fi was not functional... and as far as I can tell never is. They "tried" to fix it... but frankly, that would be like trying to bring to life a dead horse. The wi fi set up is less than archaic, and was never done properly. It appears to have been done only in order to make it legal to advertise that they have wi fi. No one I spoke to said their wi fi worked properly. We had one bar, and it did not work on any of our cells phones or computers. We had 4 computer savy people in our group, with a combined total of 9 college degrees and years of technical backgrounds in computers. Essentially, I consider the advertising of having wi fi at this hotel/motel to be purposely deceptive, and for all practical purposes, fraudulent. I do think all the staff were pleasant and agreeable... but this is a higher level management issue which had nothing to do with the staff. There was no way they could have changed this, but they did try. Essentially, who ever is taking care of the IT here is not doing it well, and as far as I can tell, it was never set up properly, and is worse than outdated. I would not have stayed there is I had known this, at any price. Even day to day email did not work well, but our attempt at a long distance computer conference was a disaster, and we had to result to using 3g cell phones. Holiday inn should be ashamed of advertising that this place has wi fi. March 14, 2015

I had 3 different valet and each of the 3 were very kind and helpful, I was pleased with the ease of the parking situation. March 9, 2015

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by More miss then hit Beautiful hotel with a great location; however, I experienced several issues. When I checked in, the front desk clerk took a couple of minutes to finish her conversation with another employee before giving me so much as a smile or hello. At one point, she asked me if it was my wife that I was with. It felt like she was insinuating something. I cant possibly see why it would matter unless she said something afterwards like I love her shirt. Then it wouldnt have been weird at all. After I got checked in and tried to get into my room, the keys didnt work. I went back to the desk and asked for new keys. She told me "your just doing it wrong" and took them from me and started to walk toward my room. The keys did work if they were held in the door for a few seconds and then removed very slowly. I felt foolish until I helped another guest get into their room because they were experiencing the same problem. She didn't have a name tag on so I dont know her name. Once in the room, I wanted to find something to do. I thought I would start by looking in the hotel directory, but there wasnt one. The blow dryer only works for about three minutes at a time before automatically turning off. Had to wait 3 minutes before it would turn back on again. My girlfriend had to do her hair in numerous intervals because she has hair down to the small of her back, so you could imagine her frustration. I bought some food to eat for our stay that I put it in the fridge. When I went to pull it out to have some late that night when I got back to my room, I noticed it wasnt cold. The knob was turned to the least cool setting so I had to throw away everything because it was perishable. We wanted to soak in the hot tub, but when we got in, the water was cold enough to make us shiver (which is saying alot considering the temp is currently in the negative range where we are from) Both members of the valet crew that were on staff were awesome! Please let them know that they are doing a great job. February 26, 2015
