We were attending an event on Saturday night at the hotel, which was a great evening, decent food and catered for my dietry requirements (Coeliac), good music and great atmosphere. Even though we
live only 3 miles away we decided to treat ourselves to an overnight stay so we could have a leisurely breakfast and a swim before heading home. Unfortunately there were a lot of children loitering around the hotel corridors, knocking on doors. We did inform the staff and they did speak to the children. However when we returned to our rooms around 1am there were still children in the corridors and even laying across the corridors! I did speak to the children and asked them to be quiet, fortunately I had had quite a bit to drink so I soon fell asleep. The next morning as I said we saw a large group of unattended children heading towards the pool so we didn't bother.
This has no reflection on the staff of the hotel who were very helpful, friendly and apologetic. Slightly disappointed with the breakfast as I'm coeliac, no gluten free sausage's, fried eggs were placed on top of crumpets (?) I asked for 2 slices of gf toast and was only brought one slice, I asked for a second which never materialised.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern, surprised there were no tea making facilities as I've seen them at other Holiday Inns.
I would stay in a Holiday Inn again but probably not worth the money to stay this close to home as I didn't feel like it was a special treat compared to when I have stayed at others close to home. However I would still recommend the hotel to visitors. [Less]
