Duluth is a historic city in the northern part of Georgia, located in Gwinnett County. This Atlanta suburb has a population of nearly 30,000. In 2010, BusinessWeek named it the “Best Affordable Suburb in Georgia.” In its early days, Duluth was Cherokee territory, and it has grown rapidly over the years. The area gets quite a bit of precipitation and has four distinct seasons.

Duluth's top attraction is the Southeastern Railway Museum, with exhibits designed to help visitors learn about the history of locomotive transport. You can climb aboard an actual locomotive and explore the train, making this a great spot to visit with younger kids, as well. Enjoy the natural surroundings at Jones Bridge Park, which includes a beautiful river, overlook areas for photos and fishing areas. McDaniel Farm Park is another outdoor attraction, where you can walk through the paved trails and imagine what life used to be like on this former farm.

Duluth has several IHG properties within its city limits, making it easy to find a hotel that offers the amenities you want. Stay close to the mall and spend some time shopping, or opt for a property closer to a local park for a quiet and serene atmosphere. Visitors can also reserve rooms at all-suite IHG hotel properties, which feature amenities such as fully equipped kitchens and separate living areas.

Duluth is accessible through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located about 40 miles away. It is the busiest airport in the world, so plan plenty of time to get through security lines.

Comfortable and kid friendly
By amanda
The room was spacious and comfortable. To start with the good... the bed is very comfortable and the pillows were great. The room stayed quiet despite people having parties on the hall we were on. [More] The Keurig in the room was a plus for me. The view was nice from our room. Conveniently located downtown and close to Canal Park. We liked the parking structure as it was raining all weekend and that kept us dry. The water pressure in the shower was good and it was always hot. The staff was courteous. Having 2 pools was convenient and the one was very close to our room. For the bad... Because of Covid19, we went through the room with Lysol before touching things. We immediately noticed the TV remotes were gross. They were extremely sticky and felt dirty. We scrubbed them (carefully so not to break them) and the washcloth was black afterwards. The window was covered in sticky handprints. The shower has a strange downward slope and the bathroom is very cramped because the door swings inward. The pool area had limits posted to comply with social distancing, but one evening it was completely packed with adults that were drinking and partying loudly. We were also bummed that the hotel restaurant was still closed. It closed in March and there was still no word on when it would reopen. Overall it was a nice stay and we would stay again when we come back to Duluth. I would recommend this hotel to others. My only recommendation for visitors is to bring some wipes and cleaning spray to help you feel safe if you're staying during the pandemic because some areas of cleaning were overlooked. [Less]

Caring staff and clean room

We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. The staff were very accommodating and attended to our needs. The room was very clean and we felt safe. We appreciated the precautions [More] taken at Breakfast to have wrapped food, cups etc. in order to be safe from this virus. The view of Lake Superior from our hotel room window was spectacular. Thank-you for putting the six foot distance signs on the floor and the hand sanitizer through out the downstairs area. [Less]
Quiet location yet still easy access to many things
By MomInMinnesota
Very clean location and staff was friendly and helpful. A walk across the street leads to Lake Superior (no beach access but pretty views). Rooms could use some updating but were very clean and [More] comfortable. [Less]
