    Neighborhoods

    Explore our neighborhood.

Riding along the scenic St. Charles Streetcar Line into New Orleans’ Garden District reveals distinctly different worlds sharing shade under the same oak trees. Victorian homes with manicured English-style landscaping sit next to rustic, working-class cottages in a stunning collision of lush gardens and diverse cultures. The streetcars, which are officially designated as National Historic Landmarks, connect many of our neighborhoods in exactly the same way they have for more than 150 years, helping our community celebrate all the forms of contrast that seemingly flow freely around this iconic bend in the Mississippi.

    Garden District Tours

Explore one of the world’s most dazzling residential neighborhoods to experience the architectural splendor of the live-oak-tree-lined “American” sector of town, and examine the antebellum-era “Creole vs. American” conflict.

    National WWII Museum

The Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world — why it was fought, how it was won, and what it means today. Designated by Congress in 2003 as the America’s National WWII Museum, the campus showcases a large war artifacts collection, D-Day exhibits and a 4D theater showing the Tom Hanks production Beyond All Boundaries.

    New Orleans Museum of Art

NOMA, the city’s oldest fine arts institution, hosts an impressive permanent collection of almost 40,000 objects – which ranks among the top 25 percent of the nation’s largest and most significant museums. NOMA also includes the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden, a 5-acre gated garden featuring fifty modern sculptures set among live oaks, pines, magnolias, camellias, lagoons, several bridges, and a walking trail. NOMA is situated within City Park, one of the most visited public parks in the U.S., in which you can find multiple activities to do in the surrounding area as well. Jacque Imo's Café

Best to reach by public transit from the hotel, this five-star food restaurant located on Oak Street is one of the hottest restaurants for “real Nawlins food.” Among the many Creole and soul dishes, Jacques-Imo’s specials include shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake. You may also request to eat in the truck-turned table for two parked out front. You may expect to wait for a table (can be up to two hours) but you can anticipate not only traditional New Orleans fare, but also the welcoming southern hospitality.

    Jacque Imo's Café
    Magazine Street

Parallel to the Mississippi and travels from Audubon Park/Zoo to Canal Street, Magazine Street is six miles of shopping, dining, art & attractions! Most of the street is a mix of residential and commercial buildings, generally older houses from the later nineteenth century and similarly aged commercial stretches consisting of antique shops, clothing boutiques, restaurants, and bars.  It is only 5 blocks down from the hotel and about a 10-minute walk. You may also ask the front desk for a booklet of what Magazine Street offers.

    • I love staying in the Garden District. This hotel is right on the St. Charles streetcar line and is near lovely walking areas. The hotel is modern and the rooms are spacious. I would definitely return.

    • We stayed here for 3 nights with a family of 4. The suite was very comfortable and the rate was acceptable. The hotel is in the Garden district just a few blocks away from the Lafayette cemetery, the neighborhood lends itself for nice walks. It is also just a short streetcar ride away from the French Quarter. The staff was very nice, plus the restaurant on the ground floor was extremely convenient the night we arrived with good food.

    • This was one of the nicest hotel rooms my husband and I have ever had. We are now retired and were in New Orleans for the last 4 days of our annual 'spring road trip'; we had not been in the city for 39 years. EVERYTHING in this hotel, and I mean everything, was clean, fresh, modern. It was in a great location - the Garden district, with a trolley stop and ATM right in front of the hotel. We parked the car with the courteous valet and never moved it for four days. The room was immaculate, the linens crisp, the towels soft. The bathroom was spacious, had a large glassed-in shower with soft water. The bed was super comfy. The price was a little high on weekends ( as we know many hotels do this), but reasonable on weekdays. We did not eat at the restaurant, or have a drink at the bar, but they appeared to be classy. Overall , I can't say enough good things about this hotel. We hope to return to New Orleans and will definitely stay here again; maybe even bring some friends along. This was our first time in an IHG hotel, and we were impressed.
