I stayed for 3 days at the end of September 2016.
The check-in staff and other staff at the counter were all very helpful and polite each time I consulted them.
I had an IHG Member room, which
was larger than normal and faced the back of the building, so was very quiet - almost no noise of any kind during my stay. Contrary to other reviews, there did seem to be aircon but I didn't use it, so I can't say for sure.
Bathroom was of the HIX "black tile" design, which I find nicer than the older design with the pivoting bathroom door and the corner sink, and was well cleaned in general. Minor point: there were long hairs left on several surfaces (not mine).
Minor annoyance - housekeeping did not replenish the decaf coffee and creamer pots by the kettle one day so I had to go to reception to get some.
The hotel corridors have lights that come on when sensors detect you so were well lit when they needed to be.
Breakfast was fine to my taste - pretty standard for a HIX hotel. Only problem was that staff were not particularly swift of foot in topping up things that had run out. Both milks ran out one day, the pastry trays were constantly empty for the three breakfasts I had there, the bread rolls ran out too and no-one seemed to be too bothered about replenishing them.
The hotel is near the main train station which, like most cities, is not in the most salubrious of areas, though there are many chain hotels in the neighbourhood. I never felt unsafe either outside or inside the hotel.
There are plenty of restaurant choices nearby, several of which I tried and enjoyed. The hotel is very handy for all transport options, which is a big plus for me - train, tram, subway, airport shuttle are all nearby. [Less]
