Featured Southampton Hotels

Southampton is a city that dates back to Roman times and has a rich maritime history that lives on in its exciting attractions and cultural venues. Today, visitors to our Holiday Inn® Southampton hotels will find a modern, busting city at the heart of England's South Coast.

Not sure where to start? Check out the aptly named Leisure World, a mega entertainment center that features a multi-screen cinema, Grosvenor Casino, Oceana nightclub and an assortment of bars and restaurants. You'll also find music venues, traditional pubs, trendy bars and techno clubs that come alive as the rest of the city sleeps.

Indulge your cultural palate with a visit to the celebrated City Art Gallery or peruse the contemporary exhibits at John Hansard Gallery.
If you're craving some theatre during your Southampton hotel stay, you're in for a real treat.
The city is home to the Mayflower, one of largest theaters in Southern England, showcasing West End musicals, ballet and opera, as well as the Nuffield Theatre which offers both Shakespeare and student works.

But it's not all about the urban lifestyle. Just minutes from our Southampton hotels, you'll discover areas of natural beauty, such as the New Forest, the ancient cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, and the beaches of Bournemouth. Catch a Southampton FC soccer match at St. Mary's Stadium or wander the picturesque grounds of Southampton Common. If you're fortunate enough to be visiting our Southampton hotels during the warmer months, you'll defiantly want to take a sailing course.

With all these attractions, is it any wonder why this costal city is one of our most popular leisure destinations?

Great room

This holiday inn is well laid out and the decor is fresh. We had a family room which was a generous size and perfect for 2 adults and 2 youngsters - this hotel has a large swimming pool with the [More] usual spa/steam [Less]
Consistently good...every time!

A quick one night stay this time following a day crossing from France. Missed the usual ultra professional Marie on reception but glad to see the lovely lady who checked us on and ensured I had a [More] room orientated the correct way around as I had pulled my back. I think she was called Angelica. In the morning we were pleased to see a regular face back on the desk, Caroline who remembered us and had a quick catch up. Breakfast was great as usual and the staff are very on the ball. We met our dad in the lounge later in the morning and were entertained by the chirpyness of the bar staff who were going about their jobs happily. Martin also had a smile for us and remembered us which was nice. Hope to be back again soon. :-) (The only down side was the overnight roadworks outside so had smells of hot tarmac wafting through vents and noise of drills and press rollers so only got about 4 hours sleep. Not their fault but maybe use all the rooms facing the other side first whilst this is going on?) [Less]

I have stayed here on several occassions over a number of years, it's always been clean and comfortable. It is very convenient for the shops, historic dockyard and the many bars and restaurants in [More] Gunwharf Quays. [Less]
Over and above service

Whilst the entrance to the Hotel is not very welcoming, once inside the staff could not have been more friendly. Going out of their way to provide us with a charger plug that we had forgotten. The [More] twin bedded room was comfortable and of a good size. There was no noise from outside and we slept well. The breakfast was excellent. [Less]
Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quays April
By Markd17
In the mist of Historic Maritime Portsmouth (around the corner), is the reclaimed harbour and it atmosphere numerous restaurants and food outlets as well as a large array of quality shopping stores [More] for the ladies, all within close proximity of the Harbour Train station. Tucked in the edge of this is the conveniently situated Holiday Inn Express Gunwharf. Although my visit was in April it was still a great atmosphere with great walks around the old town and new harbour. The Customs house now open as a great pub it is worth a drink and look around. My Only disappointment is I was on business, however I will be back with my other half in the Summer and visit the Mary Rose [Less]
