A fantastic hotel, it was a pleasure to stay here. Great views both sides of the hotel create a nice atmosphere.
This would be a great place to stay in the summer/in good weather as very[More] picturesque!
Travel into Amsterdam was an hour on the bus, was also about 45 minutes by car so not the closest if you want to explore Amsterdam. however the bus stop is directly outside the hotel so gives you the option.
The food for breakfast was very good, the only downside was the price of soft drinks in the bar being significantly more expensive than the alcoholic. €12 for a lemonade whilst only €9 for a JD & Coke?[Less]
Great place at the sea!
We have stayed in this hotel for a relaxing weekend. Great staff, very helpful and polite. The rooms were very comfortable with sea view! Restaurant was good for an very nice breakfast buffet with a[More] large choice of hot and cold items, variety of bread, ceareals and juices! One night we had dinner in the restaurant and was also very good and tasteful. Nice staff as well!![Less]
Comfortable Stay, Far from Amsterdam
Although this hotel doesn't look too far from Amsterdam city center on a map, the traffic alone will take you 45 minutes driving and over an hour by bus. Parking in city center was 55 Euro for the[More] evening. I would recommend a taxi ride (about 70 Euro each way). My room was very clean and large, with nice views. The front desk staff seemed a little less than the level of friendliness that IHG hotels have, but they were not rude. The breakfast buffet was lacking in options, but the coffee was good. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. Had a hard time finding outlets in the room when I needed to get ready.[Less]
Another Fantastic Stay
No need to write much, exceptional in every aspect. If you are in Amsterdam visit the Amstel.[Less]
Take advantage of superior concierge for a perfect stay
By Traveling MarLa
Contacting the concierge desk ahead of our stay made such a difference. The guys were able to get us tickets to some previously sold-out places, collectible coins for our nephews and nieces, and[More] already had our postcard stamps waiting. Our tours were already arranged as well as our canal boat ride, and everything was done by email to our specifications so it was basically a tailor-made stay without having to deal with a 3rd party travel agent.
Duncan, Kaj and Peter are just brilliant and have all the best tips to match our personality and preferences with our dinners and tours.
They and the rest of the incredible staff (extra props to Joseph with Room Service) are the main reason we will choose Amstel Intercontinental Amsterdam again.[Less]
Wonderful staff, wonderful location, great facility
By Jim DS
The staff at the Amstel Hotel were the most enjoyable I've ever experienced at a hotel. Friendly, helpful and unassuming. It really makes this stay stand out in my mind after 50 years of travel.
The[More] hotel location is, of course, among the best, as is the facility. If you stay, though, do spring for one of the rooms with a view of the river! Gourmet coffee machine in the room, and the staff is happy to run up a cup of steamed milk if requested. I felt spoiled.[Less]
Excellent front desk services and helpful staff
The front desk staff who handled my check-in was one of the most helpful and attentive. She took the effort to explain the amenities in the hotel, and even helped to explain the delivery-food[More] menu.
Knowing that I don't speak dutch, she even helped to place the order for me.
For breakfast, the staff ensured that all the food and drinks are replenished on time.[Less]
very friendly and helpful staff...........but no washcloths[Less]
