like royalty. This is a very expensive hotel and does not not have a club lounge. The hotel does offer RA’s their Club Life Experience. It does not make up for the lack of a club lounge. This club life experience needs to be improved. The food choices for the cocktail hour truly needs to be upgraded to more choices and some additional snacks. Our main issue with the hotel and the lack of a club lounge is this hotel is booked by a certain river cruise line and was overflowing with people preparing to go on a river cruise. Every place was overflowing with people and one could not find a place to sit, drink or eat. As a RA our club life experience was supposed to be in the A Bar for the cocktail time, however it was booked for the river cruise group or another convention group and there was no place for us to go. We were instructed to go to other rooms, but they were also full. This was not a one time occurrence. While I understand the reasoning behind booking large groups and conventions, plans should be made to accomadate other guests. We did discuss this with the management and hopefully things will change. This is to the management of the hotel, the staff was fabulous! I especially want to thank several staff members that were so helpfully to us during our stay. Jesper was wonderful in the ABar, always trying to help us have a great experience. Nina in the ABar was so nice to us and we hope to meet Jesper and Nina again someday. I cannot say enough good things about Jason, a duty manager. He went way above what was required to assist us. He even helped us order tulip vases like the ones in the hotel. Thank you Jason. Moritz was amazing during the breakfast rush. He never lost his smile! Kelly, Isabeau and Assunta took great care of us during tea and when we could not find a place in the A Bar. From the time I started making reservations to our arrival, the Concierge was so responsive to every question as well as finding solutions to our issues. We even learned that he had been featured on a television series! In fact I must say that the entire staff should be commended for their professionalism. I would hope that the management of this hotel realizes what a contribution these individuals make to the Amstel Hotel! If I ever return return it would be because of those individuals. [Less]
