Comfortable Stay
By TheBoilerdoctorMan
I had booked into this hotel for a week while I was attending a training course in nearby Livingston and thought it would be much better option than travelling through from Glasgow each day, and this [More] turned out well for me as the travel in the morning was much more relaxed and only a 20 minute drive each day. I decided to eat in the hotel two of the three nights that I stayed there and the food was ok but nothing to shout home about. I had fish and chips the first night and it was tasty enoug. On the second night I opted for a beef curry and unfortunately it was not to my taste,. The meat was nice and tender and plenty of it but the bowl it was served in had a lot of oil in the bottom of the sauce and this put me off a bit. It also did not taste very curry like either. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was very nice however. I thought the staff the first night were not very helpful in the bar but I was quite late in going in for food. On my last night the waitress in the bar and with the food was excellent as was the girl (Claire I think) in the morning where she brought my breakfast to the table for me as I struggle to carry anything as I use two walking sticks. An enjoyable stay spoiled by noisy family in adjoining room
By Chartered Banker
My wife and I are regular visitors to this excellent hotel as it provides a comfortable base to explore Edinburgh from during our regular two day breaks. We have also stayed here for my wife's [More] various essential medical appointments at nearby Western General Hospital during Winter to avoid the risk of traffic delays. This was one such stay. Whilst Reception, room comfort and cleanliness, as well as breakfast, were of the usual high standard, our sleep was disturbed by a family with children who arrived at 9.30 pm and were placed in the adjoining room who then continually shouted and screamed at each other for two hours as well as banging things off the walls. Additionally, there was another party who arrived late and intermittently talked loudly in the corridor until after midnight. (I am unsure if the two were connected) As we were totally focused on three crucial medical appointments the following day, we did not inform Reception when checking out as we are treating this bad experience as a one-off from what would have been an otherwise good stay. A pleasant stay
By Rastakann
It was a very nice stay, we didn't encountered any major issues, the staff very friendly and helpful, food also great, the room too. The only two minor issues were that the pillows weren't great and [More] the furniture in the dining area need some proper cleaning, especially chairs. But all in all thank you very much. [Less]

Leisure trip

Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Good range of breakfast choice. Free WiFi was very useful when planning our next day's visits and checking weather, etc. We also used the storage room on our [More] checkout day and didn't have to carry our bags around with us. We have stayed here before and the experience was just as good the second time around. [Less]
Great stay in Edinburgh
By CLN4083
Hotel on the Royal Mile right in the heart of Edinburgh was perfect for an overnight stay with my family. Excellent location for sightseeing or shopping. Hotel was clean, warm and a lovely sized [More] room, even with he sofa bed extended and 4 of us in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet location and we all had a great nights sleep with no disturbances. Breakfast was ok and enough to start the day, however could be improved with more hot choice options. [Less]
