Very clean and comfortable.
My husband and I make frequent trips to the Corpus / Port Aransas area and are always looking for someplace to stay that is clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. If you travel to this area a
lot, you are probably already aware that these terms aren't synonymous. The Holiday Inn at North Padre is an exception. We chose a king room with a balcony facing the Gulf. I loved the way our room smelled - clean and fresh! No mold, no bathroom odors, no perfume-based room sprays - just clean! The bed was very comfortable and we loved the little balcony overlooking the Gulf.
When we first sat on the balcony, there was a great deal of water dripping from the balcony above. At first we thought it was condensation, but there was too much of it. My husband mentioned this to the front desk. They explained that the persons above us had probably knocked loose their air conditioner drain pipe and that they would address it immediately - which they did.
Any issues I had with the room are minor, mostly dealing with the bathroom. I really liked the lighted mirror in the bathroom, however, the design of it made it difficult to reach the stopper for the sink. To accommodate the wonderful lighting, the mirror was deep and stuck out over the sink. I couldn't reach my hand under the lighted mirror to grip the sink stopper. As a contact lens wearer, I have to close the sink, so I had to cover the drain with a washcloth. There was a small crack in the sink - it didn't affect the performance of the sink, but I found that aesthetically unappealing. No problems with hot water - there was plenty - but the water pressure fluctuated with overall hotel water usage. It was difficult to fully flush the toilet during the morning hours when the water pressure was low. Again, the bathroom was very clean and these issues are minor ones.
The room was nice and quiet. They only time I could hear other guests was from the bathroom.
We ate breakfast in the restaurant and while the staff was friendly, the service was slow. My husband ordered eggs [Less]
