Have stayed here on a number of occasions the hotel is actually located at Leith next to the Ocean terminal and the Royal boat Britannia which is about 20-25 minutes drive from city centre . There
are a number of buses that stop right outside the hotel that take you into the centre of Edinburgh and to the Gyle centre at the other end of the city. I love this area of the city as despite its close proximity to the Ocean terminal shopping centre the area is very quiet and calm.
We found our room to be comfortable with all the amenities we needed for our stay. Comfortable beds an extra heater much needed as the temperature outside was bitter cold. Kettles, tv, toiletries and fresh towels supplied as needed.
However and not a major issue for me but some people might have problem with this the hotel is under going a major refurbishment which means the bar, reception and breakfast area are currently closed. This is mentioned on the website but when we booked only showed up if you went right into the hotel description page and looked for it which I didn't having stayed here before I just went straight to the booking there was no mention of any refurbishment either here or on the booking confirmation. This really needs to be made much clearer.
However after booking i was contacted directly by the hotel informing me of the refurbishment asked if I still wished stay.
This refurbishment means that there is no hot food being served at the hotel and breakfast is either delivered to your room via an order form or you can collect from a room downstairs.
There was still cereals, pastries, croissants, fruit, yogurt orange juice, tea and coffees available which was more than adequate for us.
We had no major issues with the fact the hotel was being refurbished and never heard any noise from this except when passing by on way out and it will be even better than before when finished. [Less]
