I had a great stay and even though I had a small issue with the shower the staff dealt with it efficiently and quickly ! Breakfast service was great also.

I generally use IHG group hotels for business, and this stay was no different. They are always of a decent standard, if a little tatty round the edges at some sites. This one is very well presented.
All was fine until I got back to my room after a walk round the town and meal where the temperature outside was still above 10 degrees. I found that my room was really warm, so as per usual I went over to the air con system only to find that I couldn't change it from heat only. I then called the front desk who informed me it is now in 'winter mode' and couldn't cool and suggested I opened my window.
This is ridiculous. These rooms aren't cheap, and the least I expect is to be able to regulate the room temperature to one that I require, not one that they force upon me. There's a main road outside, how could anyone sleep with a window open? Hence, a bad nights sleep.

What makes it is breakfast where the lady in charge is bouncy and friendly and remembers guests no matter how long its been since the last stay. A pleasure. Would stay more but prices go up when the cruise ships are in which is disappointing.

Never stayed here before, visiting son at uni in Southampton. Hotel very good value for money.
Ruth in breakfast area is a treasure, would employ her myself. Shes a real people person. Will be back if only to see Ruth.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by who cares 100 bed in my room needed to be replaced a long time ago, very bad not good if you need quiet to sleep every time you move it made noise.
thermostat in room had temp limits was not a very warm room, carpet stained when you walked into room, was not impressed with this hotel at all.And no recognition as a IHG club member.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn for one night only as we were going on a cruise the following day. We checked in without any bother at all and given our room which was up to the standard expected. I found the bathroom getting a little tired in places but overall it was very well presented. The evening meal was excellent with plenty of choice and also the morning breakfast. Leaving the car in the car park for the two weeks we would be cruising was an added bonus and the car stayed where we parked it and wasn't moved at all as sometimes happens therefore we took the keys with us. This was an extra bonus as we knew exactly where to find it on our return. The transfer cars were excellent Mercedes on both occasions with plenty of room for us and the baggage. Will certainly use this format on our next cruise.

Throughout the weekend, cannot even connect to internet. The ice machine broke the entire stay. Staff does not even try to buy some ice for guest. I was offered a complimentary drink as in other Holiday Inn. But the bar attendant only allow the least expensive draft, unlike other Holiday Inn. The room is very hot; yet cannot be controlled. There are better hotels in Southampton. This Holiday Inn is not up to the standard of common Holiday Inn.
