Featured Edinburgh Hotels

Whether it's business or leisure that brings you to the Scottish capital, you'll find spacious rooms, comfortable beds and modern amenities are waiting for you at all Holiday Inn Express® Edinburgh hotels.

Check in then check out this fascinating city that blends medieval castles with modern architecture and offers world-class museums, excellent shopping and dining, and festivals year-round.

Edinburgh's city center is divided into Old Town and New Town with the Princes Street Gardens directly in the middle.
Both Old Town and New Town have been honored as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and if you choose one of our Edinburgh hotels in the city, you'll be happy to know that these areas are easily accessible by foot.

Old Town dates back to the Middle Ages and offers the big tourist draws:
the storied Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile and Mary King's Close, underground tenements that date back to the 16th century.

The Georgian New Town is the commercial heart of the city and dates back to the late 18th century.

Here you'll find the city's best shopping and arts.
The National Gallery of Scotland features both masterpieces and traveling exhibitions, and if you're craving a little theatre during your Edinburgh hotel stay, you can catch a West End show at the Edinburgh Playhouse, Europe's largest theatre.

Edinburgh is also a great destination for sports enthusiasts.

Murrayfield Stadium hosts the UK's biggest rugby matches, as well as regular games for the official Edinburgh Rugby team. Edinburgh also boasts two professional football clubs (soccer to American audiences) and an American-style football team, the Edinburgh Wolves.
If you're staying at our East Edinburgh hotel, you can enjoy the big game, then head to the waterfront district for dinner and cocktails. Or skip the sports all together and enjoy a leisurely day at the beach.

Of course, this is only a small sampling of what you can expect.
Our Edinburgh hotels also make an excellent base during the summer festival season and popular Hogmanay New Year's celebration.

Perfect location

Indigo princess st has the perfect location. Opposite the main railway station, close to trams and buses with a taxi rank across the road, however you want to arrive its convenient for every form of [More] transport. The main shopping areas of Edinburgh of princes street, George street and St. Andrews square are very short walks away. Views across princes st gardens to the castle are fantastic. The bustle of the royal mile is about 10 minutes walk away. The hotel itself has benefitted from a total refurbishment and is in tip top condition. The bars and restaurant are great places to eat drink and meet people. We stayed 3 nights in February and have already planned to return late march. It will be a favourite place to return to every time we visit edinburgh [Less]
Ideal location!

Stayed here for a 2 night weekend break. Fabulous hotel in a perfect location. Our room overlooked Princes Street but there was little noise due to the double glazing. Room was very clean and [More] bathroom [and shower!] was amazing. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty; it was included in our rate. In the main the staff were helpful and friendly. The staff in the restaurant were very attentive. Our only criticism is don't stay here if you enjoy a quiet drink in a hotel bar. The bar is well known [apparently] by the public for cocktails and was 'heaving' both nights with loud music and no tables. When one did become available I sat down but was told it was reserved [by a non resident]. There is nowhere especially for residents and so we ended up taking the drink back to our room so we could sit down! The bar staff seemed more interested in the tips they got than finding us a seat although the Bar Manager and the receptionist were helpful and apologetic. [Less]
Nice place but....

The outdoor Irish bar opposite is loud, but the hotel itself is very nice with some great views and excellent staff. [Less]
Can't fault this hotel.
By Helen365
Placed in the heart of the city centre directly across the road from the Playhouse Theatre this Holiday Inn Express is near faultless. The standard is very high, staff couldn't be more helpful, the [More] room although on the small side is spotless but perfectly adequate for a couple and the breakfast was superb. This was our second visit and (from now on) it will be our preferred choice when staying in Edinburgh. [Less]

Average hotel moving up

The bed sheets were not cleaned, and had hair from previous sleepers. Other than that the room was fairly clean. The food was the best part, and the common areas were very well cared for. Security is [More] decent as well. [Less]

Great location friendly and helpful staff but work going on meant banging and drilling in the day and just a portable heater in the room [Less]
