This is the wrong hotel... in the right way!
As per my typical trips to the US, I managed to book the wrong hotel! I landed 3 hours ahead of check in, where Melanie (I think) tried her best to get me in ahead of schedule. I was very early so
was out of luck at the time, but she took my cell number and promised to text if the rooms became available earlier. Great start! When I was able to finally check in (I arrived around 6pm) I was dealt with promptly and politely, though I didn't get my room number and I don't think I got my IHG welcome. No problem, of course, it was a long day and I was excited to enjoy the executive suite I had somehow ordered! (As you have probably guessed, I make these kinds of mistakes a lot!) Now, I was very pleased with the bed, massive comfy thing it was... but... I did note there was no directory of services in the room, and none of the easy access sockets had USB charging. This did mean trailing a cable across the room so my laptop could charge and be used. Also, no bath, just a shower, which was nice, but not exactly Executive as I expected. I believe there is meant to be a snack room/bar available for Exec guests, but this wasn't explained to me and I didn't get to use it. Luckily, you did have a fully stocked bar and a wonderfully entertaining Lindy working that evening. Lindy may have been having a day of it, but her service and customer skills were second to none! Any misgivings I may have had about the room was washed away with her great anecdotes and helpfulness in assisting the stranded Brit. Much appreciated. I slept well and enjoyed a hot shower before starting on my day. I came down for breakfast and again was a little surprised at the self service bar this Crowne plaza had. The others I had stayed in offered a menu service. No Maître D as I entered so I sat myself down and waited to be served... and waited... and a little longer before Paul realised I was that lost Brit! He explained how things worked and got me started on breakfast, which was tasty and food shaped, which is always a winner! Paul saved the breakfast mix up by offering a take out cup for the remainder of my coffee. It's the little things for me that make that big difference. All in all a positive stay, though the extra for Exec may be less attractive for me next time. Thanks! [Less]
