Derby Travel Tips
With one located within the city centre and another within a 10 minute walk of the city centre, our Derby hotels offer value for money and a great place to relax whatever your reasons for coming to the city.
Located in the East Midlands, Derby is well served by trains to most mainline stations in England thanks to its central location. It is also located just off the M1 for easy access by road from the North and the South of England. The Peak District National Park is located around 30 minutes from the city by car.
Derby's All Saints Cathedral is one of the city's main landmarks and is certainly worth a visit, not only for the stunning architecture but also, if you're really lucky, to see some of the resident peregrine falcons flying around during the breeding season. The Grade I listed St Helen's house, which dominates the city's King Street, and the Victorian Market Hall on Market Street are certainly worth a visit too.
Derby Museum and Art Gallery is the place to be for fans of Derby's own Joseph Wright with a whole host of his works. The stunning Pickford House shows off the Georgian era with its fine furniture and decor.
Shoppers will find traditional shops and boutiques in the cathedral quarter of the city with a great range of stores. This combined with Derby's superb Westfield shopping centre - with more than 190 stores set in a stunning building - really sets the city out as probably the East Midland's prime shopping location.
Whether you're coming here to watch Derby County at Pride Park, to shop in the popular shopping areas or for an important business meeting, be sure to get the most from your stay with a night or two at one of our Derby hotels.
On pulling the cover back the bed look as though it had been slept in , the undersheet look as though it had been thrown on the bed and was all wrinkled and certainly not tucked in..
The hotel had[More] the smell on Johnsons baby powder[Less]
Another Great Stay
Cheap and Cheerful it may be but this place doesn't feel cheap. Spacious rooms, decent bathroom, breakfast included (albeit with a somewhat limited choice at the moment). What's not to like?[Less]
We use this hotel when attending a meeting at Donnington.
Unfortunately we feel this Holiday inn express needs refreshing and is looking tired compared with other Holiday inn express beds especially[More] need replacing .
If your staying for one night then ideal for the area.
Menu is still limited but, during these surreal and difficult times that’s not surprising.
Grab+Go breakfast is ideal as, you can have as much as you need and not waste any time .[Less]
It was a great hotel but as we don’t drive it was a bit further from the town centre than we anticipated. Also the drinks at the bar were very expensive. But it was comfortable, clean, spacious and[More] the staff were friendly and approachable.[Less]
The location of the hotel is perfect! The majority of the hotel was also fine. However the rooms were ridiculously hot, even with the air con on. I stayed for two nights and both nights hardly slept[More] due to the heat. My room also wasn’t cleaned/reset at all whilst there, nor was there an iron. Instead there was a communal ironing room.[Less]
Will definitely recommend
Our stay was very relaxing and staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel was very clean and near to city centre. All above we enjoyed our stay.[Less]
We originally only booked for one night but ended up booking and staying for another night. We was spending a few days at Alton towers it was really nice after a hectic day busy fun filled day to be[More] able to go back to the hotel not far from Alton towers and relax for the evening, there was a pub a stone throw away so we could go out for tea.
The hotel was clean, friendly and welcoming
Will definitely return.
Thank you :)[Less]
Good location, stayed over after Alton Towers visit and toured the Staffordshire area the following day. Nice hotel, with easy access, limited breakfast items during COVID-19 but what was available[More] to good.[Less]
Very good value for money
Short 1 night stay. Friendly staff happy to help with everything. Small but very clean room, comfortable beds. Noise level coming from outside was the only issue.
Good variety of breackfast[More] items.Safety measures in place.
Very good value for money.[Less]
