I've stayed at various Disney hotels over the years, and this Holiday Inn, particularly RJ at the front desk, did a splendid job of matching the service of those pricier properties. With Disney
Springs just a short walk away, the location was better than most of the Disney hotels I have stayed at (except maybe the Boardwalk where you can walk to Epcot).
The shuttles to the parks ran every thirty minutes (starting 1 hour before park open at 55 and 25 after the hour for the Magic Kingdom ) and each bus ran a route for two parks (Bus 1 ran Epcot then Animal Kingdom, Bus 2 ran Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios). We were there in January and there was never any issue getting on the bus. If you are willing to walk a short distance, you actually have 3 options for buses to take you back to your hotel from the parks (and we used all 3). There is the official bus, Route A (if i remember correctly), which takes you to the door of the Holiday Inn. However, there is a Route B for the other half of the Disney Springs Hotels which drops off at the hotels across the street from the Holiday Inn [when leaving Epcot we had just missed the Route A bus, so we grabbed the Route B bus, got off at the hotel across the street from the Holiday Inn and then crossed the street to the Holiday Inn). The third option, which we used from Magic Kingdom, is to grab a Disney Property bus to Disney Springs and then walk from Disney Springs to the Holiday Inn. This is what we did returning from Magic Kingdom to avoid the travel center there.
Aside from the cost benefit, I really appreciated this hotel's proximity to Disney Springs. When I stayed on property a bus was required to get to Disney Springs in the evenings. At the Holiday Inn we were able to walk, and if tired at the end of the night take the shuttle back. I really liked the flexibility of getting to and back from Disney Springs.
We had our three younger children with us, so we did not have time in the morning for breakfast as we made rope drop at each park, but the staff as we came and went were great. RJ checked us in, and everyone should have the pleasure of interacting with RJ, he is tremendous in his professionalism and kindness. He interacted very well with our children (their first time to Disney). Short of the 'character' uniforms worn in some of the on property hotels, you'd have guessed you were staying on property based on RJ's service level, We had a car and all of the valets were great as well.
We had the benefit of a view room and it was great. Grandpa also joined us for the trip and from his view room you could see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, while from our room you could see Disney Springs and the fireworks from Epcot and Hollywood Studios (and overlooked the pool). After arriving we walked to Disney Springs, had dinner then took the shuttle back to the hotel, watched the 8:00 pm Magic Kingdom fireworks from Grandpa's room then watched the 9:00 pm Epcot fireworks from our room. Highly recommend that as a good precursor to get the kids excited for Disney.
The hotel was such a good experience that we have already booked our next stay here at the Holiday Inn Disney Springs. [Less]
