My first trip to Knoxville was for an event called Fanboy Expo. The hotel was fully booked because the expo was at the convention center across the street. As a first time visitor, this location was
perfect because it was in walking distance of several downtown locations and the Sunsphere. There were plenty of restaurants and sites.
Despite the crowds, the staff was readily available and very friendly. From the garage attendant to the desk staff to the restaurant staff, everyone was very friendly and helpful.
There was plenty of covered parking in a multi-level garage beneath the hotel. Even though I arrived before check-in, staff let me park my car so I could attend the event right away. It was very convenient to take the elevator up to the lobby.
The room and bed were clean and comfortable, and I had a great night's sleep. The only odd thing I encountered was when I went to use the mini-fridge, someone else's old food was still in there. It was pretty smelly and it was kinda gross and surprising to find, but I spoke with a staff member at the front desk. I asked them to take care of it, and by the time I was back that evening, it had been removed and cleaned.
There was a small restaurant in the back of the main lobby. I had dinner there. The food was good but really overpriced. There were a lot of patrons that Saturday, and the staff did a good job of keeping up. Again, very friendly staff! [Less]
