I booked the room under a group rate for Thursday - Sunday (as in checking out Sunday morning). For travel purposes, I also needed to stay Wednesday night and leave Monday morning, so that meant I
had to add on two 1-night reservations to the beginning and end of the main reservation. That was not a problem, just a simple phone call to customer service took care of getting those extra reservations taken care of.
It took an interesting twist, though, when only a king bed was available for the group rate, which my buddy and I would have had to share. Being the type of person that wants to save as much money as possible, I decided to book the cheaper 2 twin beds for the Wednesday night stay, and keep the king for the rest of the stay. This meant I would potentially have to change rooms once or twice over the course of my 5-night stay.
When I checked into the hotel the first night, I inquired about the process of checking out and back in again, since I had valuable equipment with me that I did not want to have to leave in the car during the transition of checking periods. I was pleasantly surprised to be informed that the room I was staying in the first night was booked for my entire 5-night stay! It was very comforting knowing I would not have to switch rooms. And even better, it was a room with 2 full or queen size beds, which meant my buddy and I did not have to awkwardly share!
And finally, on my final check-out/in, I was graciously accommodated with an extension of the group rate, which saved my buddy and I an extra couple bucks on our stay. Overall, largely due to the unique parameters of this stay, this has been my best hotel experience. I have been singing its praises to everybody who asks about my trip, and will definitely be staying here again. I am also so impressed that I will be looking first at Holiday Inn hotels whenever I need to stay at other locations, as well. [Less]
