Marine Point sits on the Wirral in New Brighton, and it will take about 20 minutes to get there by car. This entertainment and shopping complex has something for everyone. Catch a movie at The Light Cinema or enjoy something to eat at one of the many eateries in the complex. Bubbles World is one of the country's most innovative play areas for kids. Marine Point even has a theater, featuring live music, comedy shows and other types of entertainment.

Crosby is a beachfront town that sits on the Merseyside coastline on the north side of Liverpool, located about 20 minutes away. The beach stretches about 2.5 miles from north to west, where it splits the marina from the sea. In 2007, Antony Gormley set up a sculptural display on the beach called Another Place. It includes 100 cast-iron figures that face toward the sea. The beach is family-friendly and clean, making it a top spot to enjoy a beach day without traveling too far from Liverpool. This area also offers impressive views of the ships as they pass.

Southport is another seaside town located about 40 minutes from the center of Liverpool. It features 22 miles of beautiful coastline and houses the famous Crosby Beach. If you're visiting with kids, they'll enjoy spending some time at Pleasureland, a theme park with exciting rides, shows and other attractions for all ages.  If you're there during the cooler months, you can bring the family to Splash World Southport, an indoor water park that's open all year. The water is always kept at 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

If you're up for an adventure, one of the most popular Liverpool day trips among locals and visitors is to Lake District National Park. It sits about an hour and a half from Liverpool and is the country's largest national park, housing stunning lakes and impressive natural habitats. Within the park, you can see the U.K.'s highest mountain, Wastwater, and several thriving communities.  

You're welcome to take part in any of the activities happening throughout the park. Hiking and walking trails span across the 3,105 kilometers of land. Most of the lakes are open for swimming during the warm seasons.

Although Wales has many castles throughout its area, one of the most famous is Caernarfon Castle. It is about 1.5 hours from Liverpool and dates back to the late 11th century, although portions of it have been replaced since then. The design features polygonal towers and color-coded stones arranged in bands.

Snowdonia is a mountainous region of Wales and houses the area's first national park. It is about 1.5 hours from Liverpool by car. More than half of the park is covered by nine mountain ranges, many of which reach over 3,000 feet in height. You can hike, walk and explore the natural surroundings during a visit to this stunning area.
