I was on a "bucket list" trip, so I chose this hotel due to its location in relative to the Pirates' stadium and that they offered a courtesy bus to or near the stadium. After a long long day
traveling from Milwaukee to Pittsburgh by motorcycle, I arrived and saw a group of people with Pirates jerseys in the lobby. I asked a gentleman (Bill) if they were going to the game and how? My stop in Pittsburgh was only for a Pirates' game. I shortly after met the General Manager. The GM gave me the "red carpet/star" treatment. I became a guest of his and Crowne Plaza's. I was actually made more to feel like a family member by the GM and the Crowne Plaza staff. They fed me at a tailgate gathering. They took me to the game. And I was even given a Pirates' ball cap.
I always dreamed of going to a Pirates' game in Pittsburgh due to my boyhood idol, Roberto Clemente. During my long day of travel, I had doubts that I was going to make it to the game. There is no way I can ever clearly to sufficiently describe the over whelming joy I had when I walked into the Pirates' stadium. I was a kid again and only wished my Dad could have been with me. It took me to the moment when my Dad and I heard that Roberto Clemente had died.
THANK YOU very much to the General Manager, Crowne Plaza and its staff for making and old guy feel like family and a kid again!!! It was clearly beyond anything I thought the moment (Pirates bucket list item) would have turned out to be!!! [Less]
