Latest Shanghai Hotel Reviews

Great place and service
By linzzy
Intercontinental shanghai is a gorgeous massive hotel. With a few different lounges and beautiful garden that you can stroll around. It's location is just about 10 -15 mins away from the metro. [More] However, the price of this hotel is quite expensive. The service provided could be equivalently good and be provided by other hotels too. But i guess the high price is due to the surroundings of the hotel. [Less]

Beautiful hotel with great dinning and service
By Marcel
We spent three days at the Intercontinental because we needed to travel from Hongqiao airport which is only 15mn from the hotel. We had a very agreeable surprise to discover this beautiful hotel, [More] Breakfast and dinner were outstanding and service perfect. Access to the hotel was at the time difficult for taxis but otherwise we really enjoyed our stay. [Less]
Comfortable Room, But Decreasing Ambassador Benefits
By Nims
I was very disappointed upon check-in to be told that no longer would an Ambassador member be eligible for club lounge access with an upgrade to a club room. I was informed that this is a new policy [More] that now extends to only Spire Elite or Royal Ambassador. So it seems that the longer you are loyal to IHG, the more you have to achieve to receive the same benefits that you used to. Benefits are decreasing rather than increasing with competition. I voiced my disappointment to the staff checking me in. I later received a phone call from the front desk "inviting" me to tea-time "only for today." I guess it was meant as a gesture of good will, but it seems they missed the point of why I was upset. That sort of set the tone for the rest of my stay there. My hot water didn't work even though I let it run for ten minutes. They had to send someone to fix it. And then the next morning, even though I had my "do not disturb" sign on, front desk called me to tell me engineers were outside my room to fix something, even though I didn't ask for anything to be fixed - wrong room, it appears. Big pro - it is very very close to Hongqiao airport. Con - it is far from everything else. BIG CON - less benefits. I was also told that if I had stayed at the Crowne, then as a Platinum Ambassador, I would have received club lounge benefits. Apparently being a Platinum Ambassador doesn't matter anymore at Intercontinental. Which makes me begin to wonder why I should be loyal to IHG anymore especially in big cities where there are countless other really nice hotels in the same price range. Bru, their lounge restaurant, was great. Breakfasts were pretty good too. [Less]

Great view overlooking the Bund areas. The room is clean and cozy with Chinese contemporary style. Breakfast is great. The Southern Bund area is great. The only drawback is very far from subway lines [More] either direction. [Less]
Fantastic room, great staff, good buffet, but disappointing"hot" breakfast
By Josh
Very nice hotel and will happily stay there again. First time at an Indigo and a nice fresh design. Room was very nice, but there were too many light switches and it was confusing. My coworker [More] also had this problem - hard to figure out what controls what. The black-out curtains did not overlap and it was a bit hard to get the room dark in the morning. Strangly enough, the privacy curtains overlapped, so why the blackout ones did not is a bit strange. Also a bit strange to have a full height window in the shower. Good for exhibitionists I guess (but there are blinds you can close) Overall buffet breakfast was very nice. First morning ordered Pancakes off the menu (assuming that they would be made fresh, since you had to order them). They were cold and dried out. ended up leaving most of them. After the experience the first morning, on the second morning asked if the "Crispy" waffle was made fresh and was assured that they were and that it took 15 minutes because they had to be made. Out came soggy cold waffle that had clearly been sitting around for quite a while. So the buffet was very nice, but there was no reason to not have the hot items on the buffet if they were going to be made in advance. A do-it-yourself waffle iron (that many hotels have) would have been a better idea. Also left my ID card in the restaurant and and was emailed by the staff that they found it- even before I had noticed that it was lost. Really good service on that side! [Less]
