Nestled in England’s scenic Thames Valley at the juncture of two rivers, Reading is a lively town with close proximity to Oxford and London. A flourishing hamlet from medieval times on, the town saw increased growth after the advent of the Great Western Railway and the founding of the prestigious University of Reading in 1892.
Reading’s town center is dominated by the picturesque ruins of Reading Abbey, a monastery founded by Henry I that thrived throughout the medieval era. Existing side-by-side with its charming town hall and city center is a more modern reputation for arts festivals. Music fans flock to the Reading Music Festival every year, and the town also plays host to a very popular – and hoppy – beer festival.
The shopping in Reading is nothing to sniff at, either, so come prepared to experience one of the U.K.’s top retail destinations. With quirky little shops to suit all tastes and large, attractive shopping centers such as The Oracle and Broad Street Mall at your disposal, the perfect souvenir is just around the corner.
Blow off some steam at a Reading Football Club match – the local soccer team is sure to bring out enthusiastic crowds.
As a major hub for the British train system, Reading Station has connections
to many other British cities, including London’s Paddington and Waterloo stations.
Find your way to one of our Reading hotels, and you’ll see why we have a reputation for fantastic service and top-notch convenience. Our wide range of budget-friendly options means that you can enjoy all the amenities you expect, at a price you can afford.

Lovely Hotel, Fantastic Room
By Postable72
Upon check-in, I was welcomed as an IHG member and was informed that my room had been upgraded. This included free use of the minibar and access to the Club Lounge, which offered a complimentary [More] continental breakfast, plus alcoholic beverages and canapes between 5:30pm - 7:30pm. The room was spacious and well appointed, and the minibar included wine, orange juice, Diet and regular Coke, water and some snacks. One improvement would be to include a proper coffee maker in the room, but this wasn't a huge issue in the morning due to the provision of one in the Club Lounge. The only fly in the ointment was the room service meal. I ordered the Thai green curry, which was sent to the room in an old cracked ceramic dish. If I hadn't been so hungry I would have sent it back straight away. However, I took photos of it and informed reception the following morning, and they deducted 50% of the room service charge from my bill. Overall, a very nice stay, well priced and in a decent location. I will return soon. [Less]

Staff very attentive and pleasant. Rooms well fitted out but the room we stayed in needed refurbishment but as seen the rooms in the hotel were in the process of being revamped [Less]
Great hotel in idyllic setting.
By Jazzncazz
What a lovely hidden gem! We came to holiday inn shepperton to visit friends who live nearby, and had the most relaxing stay! The staff were all very friendly, the room was clean and more spacious [More] than some other hotels we've stayed at. There was a bit of building noise during the day due to the hotel having a revamp, but it didn't cause is any problems. Will definitely stay there again. [Less]
Good value stay
By Andy N
Short overnighter using some of my ihg points. Great value as the hotel was being refurbished, but this did not impact our stay at all. There was very little disruption to the guest experience. [Less]
Staff who take pleasure in service
By foxhamite
Apart from a couple of blips with faulty room access and room make0ver we had a far better stay than expected. We found all the staff we came in contact with a pleasure to deal with and it felt they [More] enjoyed delivering great service. [Less]
Good night sleep
By JohnT
Stay here regularly. Rooms are spacious and generally quiet. The only issues are the restaurant isn't the best though service has improved lately. The swimming pool is good but lacks better lighting [More] in the water. Easy to find and Marlow isn't far for food. [Less]
Good stay
By Burnt Bear
We had a great stay but they definitely need to clean the outside grounds as they are covered in duck poo and food debris on the tables. The bar and lounge areas with purple and black are very dated [More] and needs updating [Less]
