We chose this Holiday Inn Express because of it's location. We were in Miami for only a couple of days before a cruise and the first night we stayed at the Intercontinental on the Beach. It was
fantastic. If you get the chance then check it out. But I wanted to be able to do laundry before we got onto the ship and we needed to return our rental car. This HIE is super close to the rental car return. It's basically a block and half away. Easy walking distance. So the second night, we stayed here and I was able to get all of our laundry washed for the cruise and we could easily return the rental car. The HEI also offers a shuttle to the port of Miami for $10 a person.
The staff were wonderful and the room was clean. I personally wasn't a fan of the decor, it's a little cold for my taste. But everything was clean. The mattress was comfortable and so were the pillows. The A/C was a little wonky. There's a thermostat on the wall, but that didn't operate our A/C, we had to adjust the actual unit in the wall/window. But it worked well. Everything seems fresh and new in the hotel.
Now, since this location is so convenient to the rental car return, it's also really close to the airport. So guess what? You can hear the planes. And they're loud. Really loud. At night it didn't bother me. I was able to sleep fine. But I can see that it would be difficult if I were trying to sleep late or if I were trying to enjoy the pool. Not many planes fly overnight anyway, so that wasn't an issue. And, that part of town was just well, kinda icky. If you walked the opposite direction of the rental car return there was an adult book store. And to the back of the hotel were a lot of limo services and industrial type stuff. I noticed because I got a little lost.
Overall I found this to be more convenient than not and I would probably stay again if in the same situation with the rental car/cruise. Plus, bonus free breakfast! And IHG has a great rewards program. [Less]
