Featured Shanghai Hotels

From its soaring modern skyline to its lush gardens and palaces, Shanghai has long been a place of fascinating intersections. Both a historic epicenter of global trade and a city bisected into two distinct cores by the Huangpu River, our wide range of Shanghai hotels will help you experience these pleasing contradictions firsthand.
Get to know Shanghai’s dramatic skyline from the vertiginous observation deck of the Shanghai World Financial Center’s 100th floor. From there, hit the Riverside Promenade in the Bund District to begin to get a feel for the city and its lively mix of old and new. Here, the original trading houses and consulates of European nations line the riverfront. Located within the old walled city, the City God Temple is a large complex of roofs eaved in traditional Chinese style, with serene tea houses and pavilions that help you forget you are in one of the world’s largest cities. From there, stroll to the nearby Yuyuan Garden, a 16th century monument to tranquility that boasts the Exquisite Jade Rock, an impressive boulder that is rumored to have been salvaged from a shipwrecked shipment bound for the Chinese emperor.
Cross the river to Pudong, Shanghai’s center of modernity, and crane your neck to view the Oriental Pearl Tower, a true symbol of the city. Many are drawn by the pull of Nanjing Road’s buzzing neon streets, and you’ll see why once you witness the spectacle of boutiques, scrumptious traditional dining, and people watching for yourself. The Yuyuan Bazaar offers more
traditional Chinese shopping opportunities, and an ideal spot to try some piping hot dumplings. Learn more about the past and current history of the city while indulging in a glitzy night out at the one-of-a-kind Shanghai Circus World. During this spectacular show, scenes of Chinese history are brought to life through a mix of dance, acrobatics, and martial arts synchronized with a music and light show.

good stay while taking our son to school
By jelico8
We stayed here for a week this month to visit Shanghai and drop off our son for school. The hotel itself is very nice. Check in was pretty easy, though there were definitely some front desk employees [More] that knew more English than others. When we got to our room for 3 the pullout bed/couch needed bedding, but the lady I spoke with didn't know the English words pillow or sheets or blanket so had to get someone else to help me, who gladly did. The room was very clean and the heater worked well and was quiet. The bed was comfortable and while the pull out bed was less comfortable it wasn't bad. The view was sort of boring, but this hotel isn't in the downtown city. However it was about .8 km to the subway and we walked there each day. The hotel did offer a shuttle once a day that stopped by the subway and a few other places but the timing never worked for us. Also sometimes, early in the morning, there were taxis available, otherwise you need to ask the front desk for a taxi to come to the hotel. One annoying thing about the room was the wall dividing the bathroom from the sleeping area was made of glass bricks, so if you turned on the bathroom night in the middle of the night it shone into the rest of the room (and woke me up). The free included breakfast was very good with a good variety of Western and Chinese dishes, like noodles, rice, steamed veggies, steamed buns, noodle soup, cereal, toast, salad, fresh fruit, fried eggs, boiled eggs, juices, coffee, and tea. Our biggest issue was the lack of restaurants nearby. There was a small restaurant in the hotel where we did eat once and it wasn't bad, but we didn't want to eat there daily. The closest restaurant was almost 1 mile away which is far when it's cold outside. There was a business center, free parking, a few vending machines with snacks. However there was no ATM which would have been convenient. Check out was smooth except we think we left our credit card there and the hotel is hard to get a hold out of outside of a long distance phone call so we just reported it as lost to get a new one. The wifi was free and solid, we never had any issues. The shower was always hot and the water pressure was good. For the price and the proximity to our son's school we would definitely stay here again. [Less]
