Shanghai Travel Guide
Shanghai Travel Guide
From its soaring modern skyline to its lush gardens and palaces, Shanghai
has long been a place of fascinating intersections. Both a historic
epicenter of global trade and a city bisected into two distinct cores by
the Huangpu River, our wide range of Shanghai hotels will help you
experience these pleasing contradictions firsthand. Get to know Shanghai’s dramatic skyline from the vertiginous observation
deck of the Shanghai World Financial Center’s 100th floor. From there, hit
the Riverside Promenade in the Bund District to begin to get a feel for the
city and its lively mix of old and new. Here, the original trading houses
and consulates of European nations line the riverfront. Located within the
old walled city, the City God Temple is a large complex of roofs eaved in
traditional Chinese style, with serene tea houses and pavilions that help
you forget you are in one of the world’s largest cities. From there, stroll
to the nearby Yuyuan Garden, a 16th century monument to tranquility that
boasts the Exquisite Jade Rock, an impressive boulder that is rumored to
have been salvaged from a shipwrecked shipment bound for the Chinese
emperor. Cross the river to Pudong, Shanghai’s center of modernity, and crane your
neck to view the Oriental Pearl Tower, a true symbol of the city. Many are
drawn by the pull of Nanjing Road’s buzzing neon streets, and you’ll see
why once you witness the spectacle of boutiques, scrumptious traditional
dining, and people watching for yourself. The Yuyuan Bazaar offers more traditional Chinese shopping opportunities, and an ideal spot to try some
piping hot dumplings. Learn more about the past and current history of the
city while indulging in a glitzy night out at the one-of-a-kind Shanghai
Circus World. During this spectacular show, scenes of Chinese history are
brought to life through a mix of dance, acrobatics, and martial arts
synchronized with a music and light show. Our hotels in Shanghai mimic the spirit of the city with their sparkling
modern conveniences and old-world emphasis on polite, friendly service.

Had a wonderful time. Very nice personnel and friendly staff! My recommendations! Will definitely come back again.[Less]
great service and hospitality
The only item that I found and issue with was the menu for the bar/lounge listed Jack Daniel's but was not available or served. Service was excellent though.[Less]
convenient for business travel
Great internet, best I have experienced so far, so this is main reason for my review. Breakfast is good, the room service menu is lousy, but there is a mall with food court across the street, so I[More] recommend venturing out.[Less]
Good Value for money!
Pros: clean and comfortable room, relatively new building, executive lounge is well designed and has quite a good selection of dishes during evening cocktail, good variety for breakfast.
Cons:[More] language barrier with some id the staff (For non Chinese speakers), location is a bit far from the nearest metro (about 1.5km away)[Less]
Hotel is near several good places to visit. Staff is helpful and professional. Breakfast service needs to be improved in that most of the items were empty for more than an hour even after I[More] requested several times for items. Room is good for rest.[Less]
No smoking in the restaurant please
I was quite annoyed to see guests smoking freely in the restaurant on 17August 2017 about 9pm. I was walking to the Charlie's Bar on 1st floor, passing through the restaurant. 4 customers freely[More] enjoyed their cigarette there. There were a few staff around in the restaurant and the bar but they seemed not to find it a issue at all.
I think China has forbidden indoor smoking, especially in restaurant. I understand it is a difficult regulation to enforce. But Holiday Inn should be able to do better on this. Let's wok harder for the benefit of non-smokers and the brand image of Holiday Inn.[Less]
Good Hotel and attentive service
Overall this is a good hotel to stay at. Hotel staff are attentive and helpful. Restaurant is well stocked with an enormous array of food. I only ate breakfast at this hotel. The selection is[More] amazing. You can find food from American style to Asian.
Rooms are reasonable but could do with some attention in the bathrooms. The shower worked great but could do with some resealing around the tile. Mine had mold in some areas. It doesn't take much to address this and overall brings the cleanliness rating down a few notches. Carpet in the room could do with more attention. A shampoo would definitely improve it. Apart from the room quirks which are not major, but could affect my decision in future to choose an alternative hotel in this area if available.
I would recommend to stay here as this hotel offers good value for money.[Less]
Warm reception from the check in counter n willing patiently to answer my questions about how to get around to the city about meeting place direct me to a restaurants of my otter favours ![Less]
Everyone on staff was very friendly and helpful without being overbearing.[Less]
