Located west of Detroit, Ann Arbor is the sixth most populous city in Michigan. Many people visit Ann Arbor while attending events associated with the University of Michigan, which has a huge campus and is known for its research programs. Additionally, the city has a thriving technology culture enhanced by numerous well-established companies and brands.
If there are kids with you on your Ann Arbor trip, make sure to stop by the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. With a focus on science-based exhibits, it lives up to its name by allowing visitors to touch and interact with most of the things within the facility. The Museum of Natural History is operated by the University of Michigan and is another worthy option to check out. Featuring four floors, it has the state's largest collection of dinosaurs.
Not up for going to a museum? Try the Nichols Arboretum instead, especially on a nice day. It offers wooded trails you can wander down, plus a garden of peonies.
As you might imagine, many of the hotels in the area are located near the University of Michigan. Staying close to the institution is a good idea, especially if you plan to spend a large percentage of time there. Consider accommodations near the airport, too and enjoy perks like free breakfast and well-equipped rooms.
