Staff wise - terrible Let me begin by saying that the location, the price and room quality and cleanliness are top notch which was visible in both the rooms that I rented. The hotel was close to all the action on the beach, the night life and other attractions in the city. My only issue was the security staff. I traveled to Mexico from the US and met up with some family down there for my vacation in August. I invited my cousin, his wife and 2 kids to join me as to not be alone and get around with some who is more familiar with Mexican customs. When I checked in I asked "P" if we all needed to get the wrist bands for the kids and she said no it was not necessary. Fast forward an hour and we are going to the beach front of the hotel with a cooler with water and sodas (no beer though). The security guard told us we could not have our cooler down there per hotel policy, HOWEVER, if we slipped him some cash he would look the other way. I said no since I'm not used to bribing in the US. We decided to move out of the hotel's beach area and paid the guys out there who were renting chairs & umbrellas instead to have our cooler and snacks. I guess the security guard then had it out for us since then because he then told my nephews they couldn't be in the pool since they were not hotel guests because they did not have their wristbands. I told him that the receptionist did not require the kids to have them but he was not listening to it. We went in and ended up getting the wrist bands just to avoid any more issues. Every time we would go between the beach and pool area this guy would want to see everyone's wristbands in my party. I told him to stop hassling us as it was getting annoying and why he wasn't pulling the same stunt on anyone else (anglos or light complected people). I started to ask everyone for his name but none of the hotel staff or security staff could tell me. They kept saying oh I don't know or I don't know who was at that post yesterday. I honestly felt some class discrimination toward my cousin's family as they were a little darker than the rest of the hotel clientele. I would hesitate to recommend this hotel to any Hispanics with darker skin as it seems the security staff will hassle you as if you don't belong there. September 14, 2014
