Many thanks to Christina for recommending the stonechat restaurant. Some of the best food in Ireland. Great location and helpful staff. Well done!

I have to admit, I was sceptical of staying here again after my previous visit.
However, after chatting to the General Manager, Misja, I said I would give the Holiday Inn Killarney another try as the area alone warrants it.
I cannot express how much of a different experience my wife and I had this time around compared to previously.
Our arrival was met with a warm welcome, a personal welcome from Misja and even though we were late arriving (after driving from Wicklow) this was a not an issue. We rang ahead to let the hotel know we were going to be late and they informed the restaurant for us that we would be dining around 8.15pm.
We dropped our bags to our room, a family room on the 3rd floor.
Very spacious, comfy and close to the rear entrance of the hotel.
Really great room, with fridge and sink facilities aswell as couch and ample wardrobe space.
The bad things I would say about the room were the noise from the guttering which runs across the middle of the windows on that floor was rather loud (the weather being poor exacerbated this issue), not sure what if anything the hotel could do to fix that, and the curtains in the room are rather small and getting them to cover all the light was a bit of a balancing act and didnt really work come morning... I did take one star from Sleep Quality for these two reasons but I believe the curtains could be rectified easily, this would not stop us returning or recommending the hotel.
We went for our meal and we had the soup and terrine for starter - both lovely and accompanied with very fresh and tasty bread. For mains we had the turkey steak and the salmon, again well prepared and presented and the vegetables on the side were nice and crunchy also. I had the cheesecake for dessert and I cannot remember right now what my wife had, but we both commented on the service and food being great for the entire meal.
We had a bottle of wine with the meal also and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The following night we ate in Saddler's Bar and again the food was of a high quality and plentiful.
Breakfast on both mornings of our stay was plentiful and really well prepared. On the Saturday of our stay the restaurant was packed for breakfast and the staff were excellent in organisation, they all got on with the tasks and kept it under control. Both my wife and I commented on how hard they had to work to serve so many people and we found no fault in their level of service.
The pool was not as potent with chlorine this time around, there is still a bit of maintenance work to be done to the jacuzzi controls, and the steam rooms but they are things that can be fixed easily.
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times during our stay and we really enjoyed and felt relaxed while there.
A big thank you to Misja and his team on making sure that our experience this time was very different and it is great to see a GM that cares about his hotel's image and genuinely wants to help and make improvements.
I have no problem returning to the hotel again, and I can only put our previous experience down to an off-day and a very very busy weekend for the hotel with the cycling. I would have no problem recommending the hotel to others.
Thank you Misja and team!

The hotel is within walking distance of Killarney and a good place to tour from. The staff and food were good. Some parts are looking a little tired. The package we had for our 2 night stay was very good value.
